the doe took more than half my husband’s return because of my debt. we have only been married for two months so im going to apply for injured spouse. Does anyone know how long it takes to process when you already have ddd? what is the likelihood of him getting his money back? i didnt make anything in 2016.

IN your case cheyanne,I would do what tsargeano suggested.Go talk to a tax advocate before you do ANYTHING.I have a hunch you might not want to file that injured spouse paperwork until after you get your refund in hand. Then I THINK you may be able to go back and file the paperwork on for injured spouse.I may be very wrong.Just dont want you to screw yourself out of sure money.

I filed an injured spouse form last year after I had already did my taxes, it takes a couple months. I’d get a tax advocate to help you out. They sped up the process for me from 4 months down to 2 months. This year I made sure I filed the injured spouse paperwork together with my tax return. Suposively it will go a lot faster but I still Do Not have a DDD as of today 2/18/17.Then I got the ID verification letter in the mail on Thursday. So I have no clue when I’m going to DDD now.

I wish I knew, but my guess is ANYTHING you do now after you already achieved the DDD may end up throwing in a monkey wrench into your refund…or delay it greatly.Don’t give them an excuse to not get you your refund.Another words,I would leave well enough alone.Dont rock the boat til ya have to.Just my opinion.Maybe someone else with tax experience can help you more.God Bless.
