    Hmm

My boss gave me my printed copies of my w2’s that his accountant had done for him. When he gave me mine he had all of his copies and files and was on his way to the post office to send them to the social security office. I went ahead and filed online with TurboTax the same day anyways. Question is that will I still get my refund or does the IRS have to wait for my employers mail to be received by the SS office and then sent to them for them to approve my refund? Because I filed before he sent in the paperwork…? Please anybody know how that works?

As long as your numbers match you have nothing to worry about. I am basically able to do the same thing but this year I had to wait for my HSA info so I couldn’t file early.

W-2s are due to the SSA by January 31. Usually it is April before the are sent to the IRS

That should not have anything to do with your refund. Most of the time, the IRS does not match the W2’s they receive from the employers to the information submitted by the filer until much later in the year anyway. In that regard, it is very much an honor system. Unless you have been flagged for submitting things wrong before, they would proceed as if it were correct.

Employers have more time to send to he IRS than they do to get them to employees. You will be fine.
