My refund was deposited into my account at 12am today.

Here is my story for those who might want to use it as a reference.

Accepted on 2/4
Bars disappeared on 2/12-showed “we have received your refund and it is still processing”
Ordered return transcript on 2/12
ddd of 3/2 showing on WMR on 2/26
Actual deposit into my account on 3/2

Called IRS and they said that because I filed as “married filing separate” this year instead of “married filing jointly” and I had a previous balance from 2012 my refund was frozen for 2-3 weeks. Then it would take 5 weeks to receive a paper check even though I provided direct deposit info.

The next time I called I was told that my refund was on hold because I filed Ch. 7 bankruptcy on 2/2. They referred me to the Insolvency Unit. Called them and they said that the hold had nothing to do with the bankruptcy.

Called again on 2/26 and was given ddd of 3/2.

I filed 2/3/16 got rejected due to spouses tax pin being incorrect. Refiled on 2/4 and was accepted. No movement on wmr until today. I have a dd of 3/2/16. I called on 21st day and the stated that it wasn’t accepted until the 8th and that the 2/4 accept was wrong. She said it would be another week. Called a second time thst afternoon and the guy told me there was a line that incorrectly filled but they corrected it and I will get it this coming week. Not sure which or both were true but that’s my story so keep your heads up and I’m sure you’ll receive it sooner than you expect!!

@Frustraredx100……. My status is almost exactly the same as yours. The only difference is I filed on 2/5 but I wasn’t accepted til 2/6 (confirmed with an IRS agent.) I tried ordering return transcript on 2/25 and was told that it was not available because it was still processing. The agent told me to call back two weeks from when I was expecting my refund. That puts me into the week ending 3/12…….Sucks!!!!! Though I was able to order it the next day 2/26.

Ok so I ordered my returns got them today with a cycle code of 20160705…which if I read correctly is supposed to be Feb 25th, 2016. That kind of makes me a little worried but I checked my last years return and it took 19 business days to get my return. According to the irs rep I spoke to, I was accepted on 2/3 which would put my 19 business days at 3/2….if I don’t get my ddd my 3/4 I will officially be worried but I am just not going to freak myself out about this anymore…what can I do but remain positive and hope I am not the 1% getting audited..hopefully my bars come back this weekend!

Update: I called today and the IRS agent said that my ddd is 3/2. However, WMR and the automated telephone system still says “we have received your refund and it is processing.” Does anyone know when WMR updates? Could she be wrong?

Call and they will let you know what is going on.” We part ways.
-2/24/2016 1100 CST Contacted IRS @ 800-830-5084, waited 10 minutes and spoke to a very nice lady that told me I was either selected at random, or something in my return prompted a trigger in their new software that stopped my return from processing. I was asked a series of questions only I would know. I was then put on a 3minute hold. Once the hold was complete I was then told it could take an addition 9 weeks to finally receive my return, or within that same time frame I would receive a letter in the mail requesting action on my end. Conversation ended.
-2/25/2016 0800 CST – Checked WMR and back to “We have received your tax return and it is being processed.”

– Req’d 2015 Transcript. “We have accepted your request for a 2015 Return Transcript . Please allow 5-10 days to receive it. The transcript will be sent to the address we have on file for you.”
-Address has now been updated also to new one used with 2015 TAX RETURN.

My return was accepted on 2/04/16 , still said processing, called 800-829-0582 ext 652 and after a 7 minute hold, the said my return was sent for processing in a different department and I wouldn’t receive it for 8 weeks from the date of the 16th. No eplanation why.

I spoke with IRS and they did not have to verify my id, so that was not a holdup.

Agent confirmed that my routing and check number were correct.

She typed in the CP053 code and said she could see that a a letter that was sent to me last week regarding my bank rejecting the deposit, and this is why a paper check will be mailed by 3/1. She also confirmed that my DDD from last year went to the same account routing and ck #, so said it must be my bank rejecting the DD this year.

Not the case – I called my bank, who we have been with for over 10 years and have never had a DDD issue, and she told me that there is NO US Govt. DD showing as having been attempted in the last week and definitely no rejection by them. They welcome the $$ too!

I’m still waiting for my transcript t arrive in the mail, as well as the letter from IRS.

We can only hope that they truly mail a check by 3/1 – I’ll update again as I have more info!

Ok so I figured what the issue is! Despite our returns saying they were being processed they were not ! They skipped over ours because the system was down and are processing them in the order received ! Mine was received on the 4th and the irs claims ” we did not receive your returns until the 8th!” The efile system malfunction did affect our returns getting reviewed and accepted ! We just picked a bad day to file !

I was advised that my refund that showed as processing since last Friday, had only just been started on yesterday. The Where’s My Refund Tool is very unreliable if this is the case. Sooo I am curious what you learn. I called them this morning and of course no reason for mailing. They verified the routing and account number as accurate. She said she didn’t see any notation that the bank rejected it and really didn’t know why. She said I would get a letter but she couldn’t read what it says. So I called the bank as well and they laughed and said “the IRS never attempted to direct deposit and no rejections show on my account.”

Definitely will be interested in hearing what you learn.

Hello all! Here is my experience-

2/2/16 Filed and Accepted (H&R Block office)

Where’s my refund right away stated processing your return. I never had a bar from day one.

Checked daily with no change.

Yesterday, 2/19/16, I ordered both transcripts and they both said they would be mailed. This was a hint I read about where if you can order the transcripts then your return is complete or maybe it makes someone update your account to reflect what’s really happening while they are in your account preparing your transcripts to mail.

Today, 2/20/16, Finally a BAR, colors and everything!!!! Stating refund will be deposited 2/24/16. This will make 22 days today if deposit goes in accordingly,

Geez, what a pain! Everyone I suggest ordering transcripts to see what happens. I had my sister do it as well and the exact same thing happened with the same deposit date.

I just wanted to update in case anyone gets in the same situation as me. SO I just got a letter today that is dated for the 16th from the IRS it says that I miscalculated my income. I am self emp and Paypal sent me 1 1099k for 66k I assumed that was it for that year, I looked recently in my personal paypal which is also a biz but used for personal much to my surprise that there was another 1099k from 2014 for $5992. Not sure why paypal did not combine them very odd. anyway I missed it. My letter states that I miscalculated my 2014 return and I owe $1214. I am pretty sure that is why I had the long hold up. I just not sure ( I called they are closed) If they will take it from this years refund or I pay it later. If you are getting 1099ks make sure you check and recheck.

fyi if you cant order a return transcript and you have a DDD you will not get your refund. I had a ddd of the 18th and could not order my transcripts. After the 18th came around, i logged in and checked wmr again and my bars disappeared and my DDD went away. I dont know why some return transcripts are taking longer than others this year.

I called and checked for about a week and have been waiting and waiting. So many bills to pay and things planned for this refund so glad to have a date. There’s absolutely no status on that on Where’s My Refund, so when I called on it the other day, I’m told they would send a message to get it sent through or something and to expect it in 45 days!! WMR updates every night. HOWEVER, Those nightly updates are ONLY for acknowleding acceptances. WMR only updates for approvals and DDDs on certain days. Overnights: Wednesday (into Thursday morning) , Thursday (Into Friday Morning) , Friday (into Saturday Morning), and Saturday (Into Sunday morning). These are the ONLY times you should expect to see an update for a DDD. They have been direct depositing 4 days a week – Mon-Thurs. This is they only way it’s being done: 

The Overnight Wednesday Update will give a DDD for the follwing Monday 

The Overnight Thursday Update will give a DDD for the following Tuesday 

The Overnight Friday Update will give a DDD for the following Wednesday 

The Overnight Saturday Update will give a DDD for the following Thursday 

There are NO Friday direct deposits, they issue paper checks on Fridays and do not issue DDD’s for fridays (Though they *may* send a Monday direct deposit on aFriday to ensure bank credits by Monday) You also want to note that the IRS sends you the direct deposit by those DDD’s but your bank may hold them for up to 3 days

Is there any formula or protocol that would give me a general idea when I can expect my refund since I now know it has been processed?

Is there a basic timeline post return transcript availability or is it still just wait the 21 days out?

Additionally, When does the IRS direct deposit refunds this year? Do they deposit everyday or only on certain days of the week?

Lastly, Please keep us updated because it seems as if all folks that reached accepted status on 2/4 are experiencing the long wait. I so look forward to this years returns… I am currently crippled from a financial perspective.

Need so advice from anyone who has called the IRS to get info before the 21 days or anyone who has any advice!!!!!!!!!

1. No one in my house hold had insurance this year ( single mom 3 little kids) due to my income and child ratio I was able to say ” unable to afford due to – it would be more than 8% of my income to have insurance”

2. Had EIC and Child Credit
3. Filed on 2/3 and was told I was accepted on 2/4 ( not sure due to outage)
4. Have been on Accepted – one bad on WMR since then

I have seen a few people say that they told a little white lie and stated they had received a notice to verify ID….
I have also seen people say that thats a bad idea because then you are getting yourself flagged

What are any thoughts on calling and do any of the things in my filing situation make me more likely to have a issue and take longer

Apparently, the freeze that is on my account is due to the fact that this year I filed “married filing separate” when I filed “married filing joint” last year AND I have joint tax liability from 2012. The freeze cannot be removed and must automatically fall off after three weeks. Then I have to wait another 5 weeks for a paper check even though I gave direct deposit info.

This is crazy…I give up! Hope you all get your refunds soon.

So I called the IRS for a second time to get more info and I was told that there is a freeze on my account because I filed for bankruptcy earlier this month. I was referred to the Insolvency Unit to get the freeze removed. I finally got a hold of a nice Rep at the IRS and she confirmed that my refund was accepted and completed BUT I never filed taxes for 2011 & 2012. So they are holding my refund UGH…

Update!!!

So I got some conflicting information today. I called the IRS and lied and said I got a letter that stating that got a letter stating I needed to verify my identity (Haha). To my surprise I was told that I didn’t need to verify my identity, in fact my refund is on hold due to not filing in 2011…WHAT?!?!

Then I called H&R Block to see what I would have to do to file. The Tax Preparer stated she never heard of them holding a refund for that and if I owed but not filed they would just deduct what I owe.

I’m so confused! The tax preparer suggested I speak to them again or just wait because the IRS is having issues and the rep was probably confused. Has anyone ever heard of this????

I think that it would show up on your account transcript if you can order one. If not I would try to call. When I called used ext. 652 and only waited for about 5 mins before a live person answered.

I keep hearing about the ID verify . From what I gather anyone that has used TT or any other online tax prep is susceptible to the ID verify . Reason being is that you don’t have to submit proof of ID ( photo id , ss card …etc) like you would at an office . From reports that I read almost all fraudulent returns were from online tax preps. Another reason I stopped using TT .

my concern is the lapse of insurance due to CHIP last year for my daughter for 3 months – they accepted my payments but never told me it stopped for non- receipt of my updated paystub.

anyway, because of the new health law. I fear my refund will be dlayed now?

According to Turbo Tax my return was accepted on 2/4. I just checked the transcripts and was able to order an account trans but not a return trans. I am stuck on 1 bar (accepted) at WMR site.

Can anyone provide insight as to why I could order an account trans but not a return one? Additionally, can anyone provide insight as to when I will get my refund?

As of today still cant order acct or rfnd transcripts. Everyone I know has gotten their refund and filed either on same day or after me. Im in Illinois.

Called IRS this morning rep wouldnt tell me anything except wait 21 days and they update daily this year. The WMR is full of crap its slow at updating i noticed this last year when i had already gotten my refund and it was still in processing on WMR. FYI I got through to a rep by pressing 1,2,0,0,0!

Alot of people having to ID VERIFY this year hope if thats the case they wont wait the whole 21 days or more to send me a letter.

I understand they may be “under staffed” as am I and my co workers everyday we go into work saving lives but we even manage to get the job done so that is not a legit excuse in my book. They definitely dont hesitate to pull money from my paycheck so to wait on the money they owe me is beyond frustrating. We all know how grimy our government is though.

I have never experienced this long of a wait in past filing years but I guess ill have to pull out the patience card on this one. Good luck to every one!

Hi Sean. I filed with TT on 2/03/16 and was accepted on 2/4/2016. On 2/11/2016 I received a letter from the irs stating I owed from 2013. I called them and they said that they took what I owed and the balance would be deposited on 2/18/2016. I call my bank on 2/15/16 and they confirmed that my refund was there and would be released on 2/18/16. Hope this helps.

I could kiss you….I just checked for my return transcript like you said & I was able to order mine also….I had tried twice already today and was unable to….I am so excited….in the past years once I was able to order return transcripts my DDD updated within the next day or two.

Well..just got hold of IRS and I was told they accepted my return on 2/5/16 not the 2/3/16 as when I was told it was accepted. He stated my return was re-sequenced due to the outage like many others and I would have a extra week added on to wait time…So it seems I will have to wait until March 4th to see anything….all this because the IRS uses equipment that fails…….I am furious,……… I guess I would not be so upset but it seems like every year they have some excuse of why people get delayed….all of you out there around this time..expect a delay…..sorry for the bad news…

If we have learned anything this year it is this…and I always live by this. Do not file early because 9 times out of 10 you will be put at the back of the line. If you are accepted and receive your refund in a timely manner it is pure luck. Do not file while there are IRS system issues! When the system is fixed it will take what is coming in at that time and again you will be put to the back of the line. The IRS sux. I miss when we used to get our refunds in 8 days. Since they have changed to up to 21 days it has always been exactly 14 days from file to refund. That also includes an offset my husband had last yr because his ex wife owed them almost $5000. I filed 2/4 as soon as I read the system was back online at about 11pm. I was accepted the same day. Ordered transcripts 2/12 and the next day I had a DDD 2/18. Whether SBBT will give me my refund at that time I dont know as this is the first yr I have had my fees taken from my return

This makes absolutely no sense!! Just because we have one bar with tt152 doesn’t mean anything. Even though it hasn’t been 21 days yet for most of us who filed two weeks ago and when u try and call just to make sure u dont have to id verify, need to fax the 1095a form, or have been placed under review u get a rude Rep and you have to hold ur tounge because u don’t want them doing anything funny and they won’t let u know any of those things until after the 21 day mark which is stupid just release our damn funds already!!

Something must have happened to the filers with the week of the 2/3 and 2/4. My husband and I filed on 2/5, 1040 with lots of credits and deductions and children. Ours was accepted on 2/5 and I was able to order both transcripts on 2/12. 2/13 we received a DDD of 2/18. Every year it seems like it is a pick and choose and there is no pattern to the madness. This year it seems as though the 2/5 filers may have gotten lucky. Hang in there everyone, things should start to move along.

I would like to suggest to IRS to actually put a date on WMR of acceptance. They state 21 days from when we receive your income tax forms..but they dont list a date they show receiving it…..We can guess when we receive a notice of acceptance we start counting from that date but as you can see that date does not really matter…..again…they expect us to be completely accurate when doing our taxes but they do not have to be….its just not right….

Ok so, ordering a return transcript only means you have been processed. Please check your deposit information, make sure that is correct and no errors, and I filed 2/3/16 accepted on 2/4/16 (according to TurboTax) but I am reading due to the glitch, those dates have processing dates of 2/8/16 now? And from all that I can collect from 12-16 DD calendars anywhere from 2/12-2/22 is dd dates. But if the IRS needs so.wthing like a verify ID WHY can’t they contact US instead of us them. I have never seen such a mess this year for refund season. So anyone else been on first bar WMR SINCE 2/4/16? AND ANYONE THAT CYCLE have DDD on WMR?? I’ve read it could be up to 2/22/16 before we get a DDD

@ shirley I did the same for the heck of it called the offset line . Nothing I didn’t think so anyway. I called the IRS to just ask when they received my return. They said the 4th when I filed it and got it accepted. was hoping that is why mine was taking so long. They will tell you if you call when they got your return I dont have any EIC I do have child tax credit ( i have 6 kids) I am self employed but do get 1099s for indep contractor work. I dont know what the problem is did not have any kind of ID issue last year. I think i am a daily update as I think I got my refund on a fri last year.

@ feed up , while I agree with you on the fact in this day and age that irs could be more effecient. Truth is however the system hasn’t been performing up to par. There was a system crash on accepting e-files on the 3rd. The problem wasn’t fixed until late on the 4th. The system is so old it’s using the COBOL programming system ( which hit its peak in the 80’s) .

This is 2016. There is no reason that this should take so long. Under democrats the IRS leadership is too focused on messing with conservatives than doing things like making sure the tax season resources are adequate and that computer systems are functioning as they should. Hello just sharing…. Filed newyork federal on 2/1 got accepted on 2/1 filing status refund amount and 1 bar with tax topic 152 and ur refund is being processed…. On 2/9 no bar no refund amount…. only ur refund is still being processed a refund date will be provided when available and tax topic 152 …. I usually have my refund with 7-10 days…. I called and spoke with a rep a few hours ago and she said I was resequenced 1 week due to them being behind and they did not began to process my return until 2/8 so to give it until the 29th (21) days from when they began processing and if nothing changes to give them a call…..I’m hoping to see a ddd for next week sometime… ***i was able to order account trans on 2/5.im still not able to order return trans as of this afternoon! I am sure most probably know by now that once u can order ur refund trans then u have finished processing and will more than likely receive ur ddd within a day or so….and in some cases a deposit before the site even updates also the IRS will be open on Monday (the holiday)….

What’s the point in the IRS allowing TAX PAYERS to e-File is they’re going to make us wait so long for our returns to be processed. The whole idea of e-Filing is to get our refunds processed quicker! Not sure who said the transcript meant a refund is coming?
The transcript is a record of the processed tax return, so the transcript is created after the tax return is processed. When you are able to order a transcript, that indicates the tax return has been processed. The next step would be the refund, so yeah it is definitely a good indication a refund will be on its way.

I filed electronically on 2/03/16, was accepted on 2/4/16. Today like the rest of you I was waiting to see if I’d get my refund, instead I received a letter from the IRS in the mail. The letter said I owed from 2013. So for the first time in my life I called them, and they said that they took what I owed from this years refund, and that the balance will be deposited on 2/18/16.

IRS never sent refund… call treasure office and they never had offset for my social security number… Finally broke down and called IRS today after 21 days to be informed that I have offset from 2012… Guys if you are over 21 days… call them just because you have 152 doesn’t mean a thing, if you don’t have 4 digit code it still doesn’t mean a thing…. I have order both transcripts almost 2 weeks ago… She told me I should see my money by the 29th…

To answer your question no the wheres my refund site has not updated but i filed with jackson hewitt got the american express serve card and my bank is the bank of republic. They are the ones handling my funds for my serve card and they said they recieved my refund have taken fees out. I also had an offset and it did not delay anything as i filed on 2/4/16 and its still only taken what 10 days. I should have my funds available today or soon after. I hope this helped. Still at one bar on wheres my refund.

I’ve heard that the deposit schedule this year doesn’t necessarily follow past years. So you may in fact have a DD scheduled.

However, I’ve experienced phone agents saying all sorts of clearly made up things just to get me off the phone. So who knows.

Update guys, I filed on 2/4/16 it got accepted on 2/4/16 at about 8:30pm I’ve been stuck on one bar since and I can’t order a tax transcript. I called the IRS I told them I had an error code and just wanted to make sure everything was ok (white lie to get them to look) she looked at my return and came back on the line and said I have a direct deposit date of 2/18/16 although my bar is still at one and I can’t order transcripts. My worry is I’ve NEVER HEARD of the IRS doing direct deposits on Thursday. maybe it’s saying Thursday instead of the Wednesday/Friday that I’m use to due to the holiday being that Monday maybe it pushes it back a day (IDK) So moral of my story guys give them a call because those systems aren’t updating like they should. I’m expecting an offset from a 1040X that is supposed to result in an additional refund but they’ve managed to somehow turn into a balance due without actually processing the amended return.

Since we’re now able to order account transcripts I’m crossing my fingers that we’ll see DDD’s over the weekend or early next week.

I filed in the evening of 2/4/16. Received an email from TT at 11:53 PM that night that my return was accepted. For the last three years I have been on a weekly cycle, meaning that my return would be processed on a Thursday. I have seen others who say that the IRS did not accepted their return until the 8th so that may push us weekly people back until next Thursday (2/18/16). If that is the case, we may not get our funds until 2/24/16. I hope this is not the case, but it is possible.

I filled on 2/4 only at one bar. I filled my husbands 2 hours after I filled mine and his has been accepted with a Ddd of 2/12. I’m hoping mine is too and they just forgot to update my info.

I filed with free tax USA on 2/3 got accepted 2/4 and still on 1 bar. No update as of yet. I see if you got accepted on on b4 2/5 it has a DDD of the 12th. Anyone else get that?

I filed on 2/4/16 got accepted later that night still on one bar nothing has updated .the pay chart says it should be deposited by the 12 which I’m hoping for but no changes as of yet anyone else having this issue ?

I filed 2/01 was accepted on 2/04 late that evening and only had one bar for days until yesterday my bars completely disappeared, I’ve talked with several professionals who still believe my dd should be the 12 or 15 has anyone else had this issue? Or has anyone received a DDD yet or even an actual dd? I saw someone filed and was accepted on the 5th and already received their money, wtf?

I filed and was accepted 2/4. Only at 1 bar. No transcripts available online and getting tired of the IRS! They dont wait a second to take your money if you owe but if they gotta pay you they drag it out as long as possible!

@Itsstriss they update WMR everyday usually overnight. They advise to only check once a day… I also filed on 2/4/2016 during the IRS computer system glitch. It was accepted however I am still on one bar and its almost a week now. I am sure we will all be fine and will receive our money sooner than later. Good luck.

I filed 2/4 was accepted same day… As of 1730 on 2/9 I still have only 1 bar and no transcripts. BUT, I did get my state refund from Delaware about an hour ago.. and that is very weird since I us USAA bank and I have never got a post during the day. So maybe this is a good sign. Good luck guys

I filed on the 4th accepted on the 5th I did speak to my tax advisor she said those who filed in this time period irs will be processing a lot of those individuals on for their next cycle which is tomorrow to have a ddd on 2/12 but no later than the 2/15 in your bank account ! Good luck everyone!

I have seen others talking about weekly and daily updates. Can someone please explain this? I do not understand what they are talking about.

I filed and was accepted 2/4, I do have an offset of 57.64 for the last of my student loans. This morning I called the offset line and was advised it has been paid from my tax return dated 2/12/16. Tomorrow there should be a WMR update for all the DDD 2/12/16. Good luck all.

I know I’m supposed to have an offset (from a W2 not filed last year), .. and that they got accepted because I checked the refund status of my state tax… but I don’t know why WMR can’t pull up any of my info. Negative!!!! I am patiently waiting for an irs acceptance or denial, if it gets in before Friday we may get our refund on the 12th. if not it will be at least the 19th!
