[I sincerely hope lots of others got good news, too.]
Soooo…I goofed line 30 using TaxAct, leading to week after week of no info, no progress, and even a touch of anxiety (damn taxes).
I filed/accepted February 13th. A Saturday, IIRC. Two days later on Monday, despite the holiday, I was able to see that the WMR tool showed “accepted”, TT152, etc. All good. And then, nothing changed.
After almost 14-days of no progress on WMR (I was/am aware the tool had/has issues) and reading through threads w/ you good people, it came to mind that perhaps MY line 30 was filled out incorrectly by the tac software. Turbo Tax had done that to a LOT of people, w/o their knowledge.
Sure enough. An extra $600 was claimed on my behalf by the TaxAct website. Oh, well, I thought. I didn’t realize TaxAct had actually claimed $1200 too much. Money that I’d already long prior received, and wasn’t entitled to.
At first, I checked 2-3x/day. Then once/day. Then, every couple day…and finally, just on well-known “update” days, like Wednesday and Saturday for we lowly weekly updaters.
I didn’t even bother this morning because honestly, I didn’t really need the letdown. So I went to check after dinner, and I did a triple-take looking at the screen. They actually did SOMETHING!
That ‘something’ was to recalculate my refund, minus $1200 and change. The notice said,
“We made changes to your tax return that changed the amount of your refund.”
…followed by a rough direct deposit date; I believe it was the 31st of March. Whatever. I’m actually so damn glad to just be through w/ this ordeal.
Mostly, I only wanted to post to hopefully give some hope to any people STILL waiting. Things ARE slowly working in the background.
Hang on and pretty soon your turn will come.
