      So I have called the irs a zillion times – unique situation sent to TA. Of course TA’s aren’t taking error code 900 cases anymore. After a frustrating day yesterday I finally spoke to a very compassionate, nice person at the IRS. Basically as we all know our returns were kicked out of Efile for an “error”. The majority don’t have an error, we were just caught in a system glitch. However what basically is happening is a person has to manually input your return (like you had filed a paper return) and that is why they are telling us 10 weeks.

      They would have been better to just let everyone this happened to refile after the system was fixed. They don’t have the man power to manual fix all these returns in 3-4 days. I prepared taxes for a long time. And after a certain time frame they are required to send notice (which they aren’t doing) if you need to submit additional paperwork.

      The reason TA isn’t accepting people with 900 errors is basically because they have no one to talk to about your return. It doesn’t show it was ever filed. If you were written up by TA before 3/12 call back. They can assign you an advocate that will help push your file to the front of the pile to be processed. He said they are making movement – but it is still slow due to Covid manpower issues. The people working on our returns can to do it from home. The ones rejected have to be touched by someone in the office.

      The filers after us are being processed as normal – since the glitch was fixed. They just go thru the efile System. Not being moved ahead of us, just processed as normal.

            10 weeks, no refund. I was told it was an error 900. Any help to be had?

              I’m also still waiting. So I called local accountants, (not mine) and they also said they had clients waiting 10, 12 weeks and longer!

              We have all been kicked to the curb while irs play catch up. But they should have just told us all ” hey we are overwhelmed and we can’t do our job, so go wait in that corner for 3 months or longer ” like wtf!

              I just past 10 weeks.

                well today was my 10 weeks. No refund. Return still in errors, Noone can see any errors, Noone to help me figure this out. So I called my congressman and I have an appointment to get help tomorrow. Think they throw that 900 code on purpose so TAC won’t help anyone st this point. It’s sad our own people want to see us miserable & fail.

                    What about error code 100 they stated I’m no longer in error 900 just moved up to error 100 yay!!!!!!

                      INfo on ERS status codes found onInternal Revenue Manual:
                      https://www.irs.gov/irm/part21/irm_21-004-001r
                      “If You cannot determine the cause for the condition (except Status 100) .THEN Advise the taxpayer we must allow 8 weeks from the original received date of the E-filed or paper return to pass.” The 8 weeks has been update to 10 weeks due to the very high volume of returns received. –now 10 weeks

                        I was told error code 900 is just a generic code indicating a return is in ERS. I’m waiting for an advocate to call me back. I was told a lot but I’m certain they have no idea what is up.

                            I was just told today I had an error 900 but I was assigned a TA already will they still help me?
