Anyone receive their refund early?
I filed 1/15, was accepted in the test batch on 1/18, got my ddd of 2/22 with the big update that they did and haven’t received it yet. Seen some people saying that there is a 3-5 day waiting period??? I’ve seen that alot of people that have filed with Jackson Hewitt have already got theirs. Last year I got my refund 5 days earlier than my ddd and I had the emerald card so I guess I’m just getting impatient! Let everyone know if you receive early!!! -

My EC also says the funds will be loaded tomorrow – great news!
I don’t think that anyone is “holding” the funds. There are prepaid debit cards that will issue funds to the holder as soon as they receive notice from a bank that they are coming – but not all do that.
Specifically, the IRS WMR says:
Your tax refund is scheduled to be sent to your bank by February 22, 2018.
If your refund is not credited to your account by February 27, 2018, check with your bank to see if it has been received. To me this means that the IRS (not H&R or anyone else) will send your money to the bank that was elected for your refund by that date. It is at their discretion when they release the funds – but typically for a direct deposit, they will send the files to the banks at least 2-3 days in advance, if not more. Once those funds are released from the IRS, it is then the bank’s discretion when to release those funds.
I think everyone just gets nervous and anxious when it gets to be this time, and the money just can’t come fast enough. I know I’m in that boat, but it’s the same thing every year. :) Hopefully next year I remember to try depositing on my other card to see if it does in fact come earlier.

And do you really believe that Bofl Federal Bank won’t lie on their website? It’s a freaking bank, they are in the business to make money, not satisfy customers.

I just called the back of my Emerald card and spoke with them and they said that I should have received my refund by now if you haven’t received it you should check the IRS. I told them I have a due date from the IRS for the 22nd they said oh okay ma’am you should call back then. But they said they don’t show anything pending.

Most of you are completely missing the point. The fact we all get it on the DD date means that H&R Block held the funds. Do you really think the IRS waits until the DDD to send the money? It says specifically BY the 22nd, not on the 22nd. And to think that the IRS purposely waits ONLY for H&R Block customers is even dumber. Netspend and other prepaid cards are not loaning people money, they are releasing the funds immediately, banks don’t do that because they receive millions in interest by holding on to it.

H&R block doesn’t hold onto your refund. Bank of Internet owns the Emerald Card and their websites specifically states they do not hold onto refunds. They release as soon as they receive it. Please stop spreading false info especially if you’re unsure. Its bad enough people are desperate for their monies, it doesn’t help to add on unnecessary stress.

For the people who are concerned about the 3-5 day wait. They only put that in there just in case IRS does not send the refund until the day they said they would. So if IRS does not send your refund until 2/22 then they need a day to process the fee’s and add it to your account. That takes personnel.

Nothing yet ddd2/22 emerald card ugh! With fees thought it was going to be early but no.. not with h r block emerald card.. I guess… on to tomorrow

I think the confusion with the additional days of waiting is H&R Block’s fault. They have staff on their community site telling people that if they are having their fees taken from their refund they can anticipate a 1-4 day additional wait. I believe mine came on the DDD last year, so anticipating the same this year.

Funds are suppose to be deposit immediately with emeradle card, its like sending a email electronically should always be instant. You have to realize they make hundered of thousands of dollars in interest each year just by holding eveyone refund for a day or 2, thus is my first year using hr and as much as it cost to file I probably won’t use them again consider how easy it is these days to do your taxes on your own for free with the current technology. I filed 2/5 accepted same day got 2/22 ddd on 2/17 was hoping to get them a day or 2 early last year I got them back 4 days early in hoping I get them around 4 am tonight if not then it will be tommorow I deffinentlt need them my job burned down 2 weeks ago and I am claiming kids so I had to wait for the 15th like anyone else claiming eic

H&R block does not hold refunds. It even states it on their website. They receive their payments directly from IRS. Your refund amount does not include their fees. Its already deducted. We shouldn’t confidently spread alternative facts. Last year my refund was made available exactly on my DDD. Its better than it being late.

If you are depositing to emerald card, funds are released immediately. If they have to route to another bank or card, it could take up to 3-days extra. Depends on where it’s being deposited. Was told that funds start coming in at 7pm daily. I assume EST, since that’s where I am, but not 100%. Could be anytime from tonight til Thursday morning.

Have been using the emerald card for the past 6 years as well. Every year my deposit has been deposited on the day it says it will be. For example my DDD this year is 2/22. My funds will be in my account no earlier than the 22nd. Never later.

I don’t think that 3-5 day hold is accurate. Im not sure how it came about but Ive done my taxes with an emerald card for 6 years and never once have they held funds. I have never received my funds early either. If it says the 22nd I would expect to receive it by the 22nd maybe the night prior close to midnight but never earlier than that.

I doubt ill be lucky enough for an early rerun however I am praying. Our landlord let us move in because we couldn’t afford the hotel any longer and I doubt she will wait much longer. I am having horrible panic attacks. We went to a VA charity but they don’t have any funding.
Praying so so hard -

I’ve used them for many years and it’s always been the same day as the ddd. Once you get the third bar on WMR, it should be the next day in your acct.

I found this online, i assume it to be helpful info but not assured info. Either way i eill be using netspend from now on. Recognize this comment was made on the HnR block community website back in Nov of 2017. So the dates may not be accurate along with the misunderstanding of CTC and ACTC. Me personally, i really would love to see a deposit before 2/22. I also do not know how the coming holiday will affect deposits.

Tax Season 2018 Refund Processing Times [ Edited ] l

Hi H&R Block community!
FEDERAL REFUNDS
If you are claiming the child tax credit or the earned income credit there’s no rush. Yes you should file early, but you will be waiting a while so you should wait for your W-2 and file accurately instead of trying to file the split second that the tax season starts. Filing accurately is the single best way to shorten the delay in receiving your refund.
The timeline for this year is as follows:
Refunds for those claiming the earned income credit and the child tax credit will not be authorized until February 15th at the earliest.”Where’s My Refund?” will start to update for most taxpayers who claim the EIC or the CTC on February 18th, 2018. Prior to this date you will see a message that says your return is being processed or you may not see anything at all. Those claiming the EIC and CTC will begin to receive their refunds on the last week of February & the first week of March. The first couple of possible deposit dates for these people are February 21st and 28th.The due date for 2017 tax returns is April 17th, 2018. File at least two weeks before this date if you must mail your tax return to the IRS. Your tax return must be received or accepted by the IRS by April 17th, 2018.

I have used emerald card DD since 2011 and i have never had my refund deposited before the scheduled DDD. For instance if it says the 22nd then you can bet your butt it will be the 22nd. Other institutions front the monies to the account where as Emerald Card does not. There will be no 3-5 wait unless you have yours fees taken out of your return.

I agree! I usually use H&R block but if they try to hold my refund for 3-5 days like everyone is saying they are doing this year then this will be my last year filing with them! I mean, we are having to wait long enough give us a break jeeezzzzz!
-

I don’t know, but this is my first year filing with H&R Block so it would be nice to get it a little early.
