So, last year I got the same kind of time frame, Feb 27, my deposit hit my bank on Feb 22. I have a different bank this year and they’re jerks about direct deposits, they won’t release it when they get it, they hold it until the expiration date. My transcripts show an as of date of 2/18, I haven’t been able to get an answer as to whether or not that’s when my deposit will be sent.

Hey, how we doin this afternoon Carl? So get this, PATH was enacted by those lovely people we poor scum refer to as politicians. It was signed into federal law. That federal law states somewhere in there that those federal returns claiming a certain few deductions can’t/won’t be released until February 15.. now sometimes I’ve definitely a comprehension deficiency, this may be such a case, like trying to wrap my head around why some people’s children muck up an otherwise decent info resource ( I’m guilty as well) with the most elementary, basic, form of inquiries.? Key in all the gibberish I wrote above would be as follows… Federal law, February 15, certain deductions. Even with my poor public school K12 education I can pick that from what’s been said, read, distributed to public etc etc etc… sometime the heart jus stop, gosh, read a book.. Jr.

By law, the IRS cannot issue refunds before mid-February for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). While the IRS will process your return when it is received, it cannot issue related refunds before mid-February. The IRS expects the earliest EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards starting on Feb. 27, 2019, if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with the tax return.
It’s true. Just go to WMR and then click on topic number 152

This is from the IRS news site : The IRS also notes that refunds, by law, cannot be issued before Feb. 15 for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund — even the portion not associated with the EITC and ACTC. While the IRS will process the EITC and ACTC returns when received, these refunds cannot be issued before Feb. 15. Similar to last year, the IRS expects the earliest EITC/ACTC related refunds to actually be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards starting on Feb. 27, 2019, if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with the tax return.

When we update. And as soon as the irs approves our refund, that’s when we will go to the next bar, but until then, we will stay at the first 🤗

Do we know where the 2/21 date comes from? I claimed both credits, and filed with H&R Block. I got an email from them saying that it would be between Feb 27th and Mar 3. Hopefully they’re just trying to be over-cautious?

What follows is directly from the IRS website:

I’m not picking sides on this however I did come across an interesting read on irs.hov website and it states that due to path act taxpayers refunds could possibly be held until mid February. but it also states below that, it is possible if it is like previous years they might not be delayed. the way it was worded is confusing however after reading it it made me wonder if possibly not all eitc ect refunds would be held unless something changed.

It seems like every year there are a few people who just like to come to this forum and cause a ruckus by spouting nonsense. How about the two people to the IRS decided the law didn’t apply to offer some sort of proof? I was in the early test batch last year and this year and still did not receive my refund until Feb 22 and I expect it to be the same this year. So either the IRS broke federal law just for you, or you think but did not actually qualify for the credits. I think it might be the latter.

No one claiming EIC is getting an early DDD especially not before 2/15 lol I’m sorry but no you’re not special out of millions of people that the IRS is going to break the law for you. Recheck your tax papers, you probably only claimed CTC which isn’t affected by the PATH act law.

It’s the law…you won’t see anything until after 15th. First refunds or DDD will be for 2/21, but you may receive a couple days earlier depending upon the bank

January 26, 2019 at 5:58 pm #4253167
Everyone’s transcripts (Pathers) DDD 2/21
-
January 26, 2019 at 5:13 pm #4253162Nathan
@Carl
The tax law itself says that filers that claim those things MUST have their entire refunds held until mid February. WMR updated for me today and now has the PATH message and says to check back for a status update mid February. Thinking that you might get lucky and get a DDD before the law says is just going to stress you out. We are all in the same boat waiting.

The first path DDD is 2/21. Certain banks will deposit funds earlier, but officially on WMR it’ll be 2/21.
