We filed on the 15 and were accepted later the same day I suppose this means we made it into the “test batch”. There is still no way we will get ours any sooner then Feb 18 anyway, right? Anyone other test batch ppl with EIC ever gotten it early? Our H&R Block Lady was trying to tell me it’s possible but I don’t buy it.

I filed my taxes on 2/7 and was accepted the same day. Recieved my taxes on the 14th in the middle of the day. On the where’s my refund tool it is still showing return approved and will be direct deposited by the 20th does this mean there was an error and will be receiving a duplicate refund?

ANYBODY filing with EIC or ACTC will not receive any refunds before feb 15. You can do a search on the PATH ACT 2020 for it.

According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue refunds before mid-February for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits.

I filed 1-14-20. Was accepted a day or two later. WMR as of 1-24-20 says approved with message for money to be sent to my bank by 1-29-20. I DO have EIC and child tax credit.

I filed my federal 1/22 accepted the same day, filed state 1/23 accepted same day. Where’s my refund shows 1 bar and tax topic 152, Refund Information. I claim both EIC and CTC. I’m assuming 1 bar is a positive meaning I could get an early ddd. At the very latest my ddd will be 2/15.

My return was accepted on 01/13/2020, simple return no path. I just checked WMR and its still on “return received”. I received my refund early last year on 01/30 as I was also in the test batch.
Does WMR update daily? Anyone think I will receive my return by Friday?

Update… Filed 1/17…Holiday weekend, accepted 1/21. Only had CTC credit, nothing requiring the Path Act wait. Updated on WMR Friday night/Sat morning to 2 bars… DDD for 1/29. Never, ever have I gotten a return back so soon!! 👃👃

I filed on Jan 18, 2020 and Return was accepted 1/21/2020 – Where’s My Refund showed accepted (one bar). Today, 1/25/2020 App shows Refund has been accepted (2 bars) and will be direct deposited by 1/29/2020.

KBailey1228 Topic 152 does not mean a person claimed EIC or the ACTC. My understanding is that is a generic message that everyone receives while a refund is being processed. I did not claim either on my return, and I still have that message showing at the bottom of WMR. I was accepted 1/13/20 in a test batch. Still haven’t seen my refund from Fed or State.

Filed 1/17…Holiday weekend, accepted 1/21. No creds to claim, simple return… Got in on the batch testing 1st day of the 2nd round. Let’s see how long this takes….

January 23, 2020 at 9:53 pm #4332639PF
Tax topic 152 simply means you’re getting a refund. Most receive that message on WMR before they get their DDD.
-
January 23, 2020 at 9:37 pm #4332637KBailey1228
@cunanrican to my understanding,
Topic 152 means you tax return has claimed the EIC or the ACTC. If the IRS has accepted your return before the official opening day, it means you were accepted in the “test batch.” However like all PATHers you will not see a direct deposit until at least Feb 15. I see a lot of people posting that if they’re in the test batch and have the EIC or ACTC they think they will get their refund earlier but it’s only the accepting part that is being done early it can’t be processed until the middle of February. -

I have 1 bar already on WMR …does it really mean irs is proccessing it now before jan 27th?
-
January 23, 2020 at 4:27 pm #4332604Tiffany W
Yep, I got Path too, so lets just be prepared to wait until close to the 15th of Feb for second bar to move and get a DDD.
-
January 23, 2020 at 3:21 pm #4332592
It’s against the law for the IRS to release a pather refund before feb 15th

Did my taxes jan 21st accepted jan 23rd today and i have tax code 152 which means proccessing..am i in what they call the test batch?

Also, I filed with TT, and I paid my fee upfront, instead of letting them take out of my refund.
So I’m guessing I won’t have to go through Santa Barbara(SBTPG).
So refund should come quicker.

Hi
Filed 1/21
Accepted 1/22Nothing yet. I only have child tax credit, no earned income credit.
Still may not get refund until mid February, I don’t know.
Hoping I’m in the test batch for early filers. -
January 23, 2020 at 12:58 pm #4332573
I filed with Credit Karma pretty early and completely forgot that I had. Also filed with TurboTax days later lol. Got an email from CK last night that my return had been accepted and WMR has updated to one bar. I suppose I will get an email from TT saying my return has been rejected because I accidently double filed lol. I shelled out $80 for TT. I wonder if I can get a refund after my return gets rejected. I did file with EIC and child credits.

We also haven’t gotten into the test batch since we have been PATHers either I guess I was hoping that could push the refunds out earlier but it appears not
-
January 23, 2020 at 12:07 pm #4332566anxiousinAZ
I just wish the tax preparers wouldn’t say stuff like “it’s possible you could get your refund before the 15th of Feb” the fact that our H&R lady said that is what confused me. We have been doing this PATH thing ever since it started and we have never gotten our refund any earlier then the given date

My return was received by IRS 1/13, simple return no EIC or other. What is the earliest I can expect my direct deposit return?
-
January 22, 2020 at 7:46 pm #4332499
Again, for anyone who has PATH credits. You will NOT receive your refund until AFTER Feb 15.
If you do, then you do not have EIC ACTC. Even If you were accepted into HUB Testing AKA Test batch. -
January 22, 2020 at 6:42 pm #4332493Cheyenne
I filed yesterday 1/21 and was accepted into test batch today, was offered pre qualified for refund loan wonder if I’ll get actually approved. I have eic and child credits so I won’t see anything until mid feb I know. Last two years were review years. Perfect returns. Praying for simple processing this year.

WE ALREADY HAVE 1 BAR ON THE IRS SITE. Just filed on the 21st lol. We are EIC..the works. So from everything I have read, YES we can get our refund sometime around the first week of feb. We most def. seem to be in the test batch.

January 22, 2020 at 4:20 pm #4332467
update..I was just accepted this afternoon. Filed on the 21st. Does this mean I am in the test batch?
-

EIC and CTC are only held up for your federal return
your state return can get accepted and approved at anytime tbh…it all depends on your state..
I’m a PATHer and I got my state taxes back wayyyy before the 15th of February… last year I got my NY refund back first week of February

@regular guy, not looking for early money. I decided to file early b/c I help others file all season. One less for me to do.

January 21, 2020 at 7:12 pm #4332385Regular guy
Same thing every year. No early money for those credits, no exceptions. If only you had a dollar for every time you hit that refresh button, you wouldn’t need your refund.

We filed on 1/4/2020 and was accepted on 1/15/2020. But we have the credits. I wish I could just get a date on when my refund was coming. Then I could chill back and wait.
-
January 18, 2020 at 2:56 pm #4332223
Not since the PATH ACT started. Even if you file early, your return will not be processed until 2/15. My husband works for the IRS, and he said that they set those returns to the side until 2/15. He said that the system scans for the EITC and ACTC and if said credits are being claimed, they are set to the side. They are constantly upgrading the systems.

There’s another test batch scheduled for next week…
The IRS has announced that the 2020 tax filing season will begin on January 27, 2020. Tax preparation companies will be participating in the controlled launch of the e-file system (HUB Testing) with the IRS between the dates of Monday, January 13 – Wednesday, January 15 and Tuesday, January 21 – Thursday, January 23. During this time, tax preparation companies will be sending batches of tax returns to the IRS for processing.
