I was always had the understanding that while PATH Act returns were processed along with other returns, the refund itself was held until Feb 15th. Last year the 15th was on a Friday, this year it is on a Saturday, I don’t know if that will delay anything. I’m still thinking it will be Feb 26/27 before any PATHers see their refund.

Had a nice long talk with my accountant about the Path ACT, we determined its a stalling move but anyways. I am not filing my tax return until after the 14th. I am not dealing with the craziness of waiting and transcript codes…no thank you. Thankfully this year I am comfortable and not depending on my tax return like every other year.

The PATH Act mandates that the IRS not issue any refund on tax returns claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until February 15th.
All current year tax returns that claim EITC and/or ACTC filed before February 15th, will contain a C- freeze on the account, to hold the refund. The C- freezes will be systemically released on February 15th for modules processed daily, and on the first Thursday after February 15th for modules processed weekly. If February 15th falls on a Thursday, both daily and weekly modules will be systemically released on the 15th.Unfortunately Sheila…… You are spot on CORRECT! Soo…….. Walking that PATH again this year anyone? I am! The good ol hurry up and wait period!

Well if its anything like in the previous years since the new PATH act was put into place, I would say for those claiming the ACTC/EITC won’t see refunds until AFTER February 15th. Thats when they start processing those returns.
I’m quite used to the wait. Been waiting like that for a few years now anyway. I just decided to ease my suffering by waiting until February 14th to file just so that the wait doesn’t seem that long in-between filing and receiving the refund.

I would love to know this too. Unlike the last couple of years, the official IRS statement regarding opening day doesn’t say anything about PATH act, certain credits having to wait to be accepted, or even a mention of February 15th but I don’t want to get my hopes up.

I am not certain but it looks to me like the big day will be February 26th. Last year was February 27th. Of course you must file and be accepted prior to February 15th for this to happen.

Same as last year. Feb 15th or so.
Don’t bother filing until around that date. I was finally able to get a login to check my transcripts in real time and checked mine for last year (filed early jan and got fucked and caught in a loop and didn’t get return until 3/27 with help of a TA). All other years I filed mid-Feb and got my return within 10 days.
