    blahblahblah

      These EIC posts crack me up every year! People file, claim EIC, and then expect to have a DDD before the 15th. There is no exception to the rule. No one is any different, everyone who filed and has that credit will have to wait. Please listen to us when we say that you WONT get a DDD or a DD until the 15th at the earliest! We go through this EVERY YEAR and its always the same, why would it be any different this year. I understand if this is the first time someone is filing with a CH and doesn’t really understand it but a lot of people know this cause they have been filing for years and still just don’t get it!

      I understand the need for the money, I filed and have the EIC credit too! But coming on here and posting constantly about not having a DDD or saying you hope it updates tonight when you know there isn’t going to, or getting mad at the IRS for holding “your money”, or even going as far as to blame the IRS like its their fault (when we know damn well its not) is a waste of everyone times! We have had countless IRS workers on here say the same thing over and over and over and people still don’t believe them!

      Get a grip people!

      Okay I’m done now, rip me to shreds!

            PREACH IT! My own husband works for the IRS, and he has mentioned it NUMEROUS times that IT’S THE LAW! They are to HOLD ALL of the returns that claim one or both credits UNTIL the 15th of February. There is no go around! Just because you have an early refund doesn’t mean that it was released by the IRS! Most of those claiming the early refunds are those who have gotten a refund loan from their tax preparer, and that does not mean that the IRS has released it! There are times where those refund loans are called back by the preparers due to the IRS notifying the preparers that an error was found on the returns, and audits were done preventing the preparers from getting their money; and that’s why some of those who get an early refund loan have issues in the coming months! Then you have the trolls. Those are the ones that come on here and lie to the people in the forums, telling them that they have DD dates after claiming the credits, when either they don’t have one, or they haven’t claimed the credits on their returns! And instead of paying attention to how things went for them in prior years, they fall right into that pathetic panic trap that the trolls placed and become the laughing stock of the forums! I come here to communicate, while I wait, but the things that I read on here because of some people’s lack of common sense; I get a laugh every time! People please read the tax law that was put into place? Ignore the trolls, and unless you have a refund loan into place, if you claimed the EITC and OR the ACTC, you WON’T be seeing your refunds until AFTER February 15th! The 15th is when our returns will begin processing for approval! RECEIVED and APPROVED are two completely different phases! If you submitted your return early, and it has been accepted, then you are still waiting until the February 15th mark before you see ANY approvals!

              Why would you make a topic called (IEC Rants) and then rant about the people ranting lmao. I just joined this whole forum last year and when I don’t want to read about people ranting I DONT go into a topic about RANTING!! You make no sense :)

                I know that they can not release refunds for eic before the 15. But do they approve and give the ddd before then? If not then why

                  No on break at job that work my ass off at. Your insults dont bother me. If you’re not a pather why do you care? I am a pather which is why I posted the rant because I think it’s insane how much people complain about the hold that you dont understand. Sounds like maybe you need to spread your legs to get the stick out of your ass by once again making an assumption about me. My post wasnt an assumption it’s based on facts that I see here every year when I have come to ask tax questions. Yes I did make the post, so what. If people can vent about how annoyed they are about the hold then I can vent about how it gets old every single year.

                  I’m not the only person who feels this way, I’m just one of the only ones who will say it.

                    I actually work for a tax attorney for a living so I know quite a bit about the path act and tax codes and legislation. The path act has its flaws but it does good and it wasn’t made as punishment.

                    Some people get more back than they pay in and some don’t. Actually people There is no point in grossly overpaying your federal or state taxes. You can still get a larger refund AND get more throughout the year. That is what you should be doing. You are willingly overpaying and there is no guarantee that you are going to get it back. Why not adjust your Withholdings and get a large chunk of that money throughout the year instead of being frustrated every year? If people are really struggling as much as they say, having that money throughout the year is better.

                    The tax code were actually written without large refunds in mind. It is pretty rare throughout the world for citizens to overpay the governments.

                    So let’s say your tax liability made you overpay the federal by $3000 (estimate) and your EIC and other deductions raised that $5000. You have $3000 extra throughout the year. You can invest that. You can max out your retirement contribution for a large deduction next year. You have it. It is yours throughout the year. You don’t have to waste money on fees or play the waiting game.

                        @Somuchmore

                        …You do realise those of us stuck waiting because of PATH are getting back more than we pay in, right? There’s legitimately no way for us to get a return of $100 or less, or to owe a ‘small amount’ money.

                        For someone talking about how great the PATH act is, you sure seem a bit ignorant about who it is affecting, and how.

                          @spookyrides

                          The path act is more than just a delay for certain filers though. It is really great legislation. It helps prevent people from claiming fraudulent tax withholding, includes new provisions for ITIN filers, contains the wrongful incarceration exclusion which allows the wrongfully accused to claim restitution and it expanded the work opportunity credit for employers. Prior to it being enacted there were huge problems in all those areas including identity theft. We are better for this.

                          You don’t want to be getting a refund anyway. They are bad. Getting your tax liability to close to zero by changing your W-4 withholdings is much better. You are basically giving the government a loan. That you aren’t sure will be repaid. They are allowed to hold it as they see fit with accordance to the laws and policies outlined in the massive and complicated tax code. Your refund can be held for years. I suggest meeting with a CPA ,some charge as little as $25, and having them help in adjusting your income withholdings. If you do this your get the same amount but throughout the year instead of waiting for a frustrating tax season. You may even still get a small more reasonable refund of $100 or owe some. In fact, owing under a $100 means you did something right all year and got your money in your paychecks. Use the extra to pay bills or put into your IRA or retirement for an even bigger right off next year. Or a savings account.

                            I think most folks, like myself, are mad because the whole “Idea” of this was to prevent tax fraud, but by now the “bad guys” aren’t claiming people with the EIC and simply going after people without it. Why penalize people with Kids when they need the refunds most of all? Last year the IRS has over 500 Million in fraudulence taxes processed. And it’s also not fair for them to collect two more weeks of interest from family’s.
