I filed on the 17th and it was received by the morning of 18th. Have 1 bar and tax topic 152. Shows info on new law. Paying for fee out of federal. Here’s to hoping since my return has been exactly the same for over 6 years….They might release it early. Not expecting that though…. Learned my lesson not to expect anything from IRS last year lol.

I called and spoke with a representative today and asked for my actually deposit date. The woman put my on hold and returned 5 minutes later to tell me that I did not have an update on my account yet and that it would update again on the 18th. I’m so upset because I filled on Jan 20 and was accepted on the 23rd. So many people already have DDD of 2/22, so I figured mine would be too. My husband lost his job and now everything important is due to go off between the 20 and the 24th (electric, water, car insurance, etc). We have no credit left to pull and no one left to borrow money from, no work that could provide the money in time. I am so desperately in need of this refund. This is really hurting my family and now I am at a total loss and in limbo.

Filed 1/23, accepted 1/24 – still at 1 bar, no Path act message yet and cant order transcripts yet. I’ve never seen an update for mine before 1 week ever, so no biggie
Personally I don’t mind the Path act delay. It’s to make sure that they have time to verify income with W2’s from employers that need to be submitted to the IRS by 1/31. With all the billions of fraudulent claims for EITC and the ACTC, they should make sure that the people who claim it actually are eligible for.
Just have to wait a few days more….

I don’t think its fair that I’ve been filing for 25 years with the EIC, before the CTC was initiated. Same dependents. You would think that they would see that you have a simple 1040EZ form with the same darn dependents and release it. We suffer because of the losers that chose to steal from the IRS. Thank God for employment.

Wow So I was able to order both transcripts yesterday couldn’t Thursday and woke up to Path act. Smh I guess it doesn’t matter when u file I had the EIC and CTC. I filed on 1/22 accept 1/23. I pissed off because I work to hard for my money to have to wait for frauds. Like it could have been other ways to fight against fraud but not make single parent mothers wait for what they need.

Ms. Jones-
Mine says the same thing. It shows the -$xxxxx.xx and the same cycle code. It does says that on Feb 13th it will be processed, so I’m guessing we’ll all get our refunds on that day.

I was able to order both transcripts last night (1/26/17). This morning both bars had disappeared and I now have this message (1/27/17).
Refund Status Results
According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue refunds before February 15 for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits.
Check Where’s My Refund after February 15 for your personalized refund status. It’s updated once a day and remains the best way to check the status of your refund. Please read the following information related to your tax situation:
Tax Topic 152, Refund Information
Please Note:
For refund information, please continue to check here, or use our free mobile app, IRS2Go. Updates to refund status are made no more than once a day.my cycle date says 20170404 and has a negative account balance in the amount of my refund.
Has anyone else who was able to get transcripts seen this?

It is the same for me. I filed in the evening of January 24. Same filing status (Married filing joint) with the same 3 children as in the many years prior to this. I have 1 bar with the 152 code. I was given the warning of delay because of the new law as well. I wonder if this delay is for those who are new to the EITC and ACTC, or is it for everyone who has had the credit(s) in the past.

Joshy:
EIC: Earned Income Credit….you receive this if you made below a certain amount of income
CTC: Child Tax Credit….anyone who has a child, gets this. Up to $1000 per childACTC: Additional Child Tax Credit….If your taxes owed does not equal enough to claim the full tax credit (example: You have two kids, your CTC is $2000. Yet you only owe $1200 in taxes.) You will get a partial CTC and then an ADDITIONAL CTC to equal the $2000).
Its complicated, but not many people have the ACTC. Most get the full CTC.

Stop saying CTC returns will be delayed. That is a lie. If you have CTC your return will NOT be delayed. Only EIC and ACTC.

Regarding Turbo tax who have fees and are going through Sbtg they seem to have a new set up this year, showing the amount of refund you are expecting to recieve and 0 for the amt they have recieved. Mine has said that since I got accepted and I am still only at one bar, though I have eitc so not expecting anything before Feb 15th.

Brad……Thank Well what the difference neither 3 etc, actc, and ctc, and which ones delay refunds
-
January 25, 2017 at 3:07 pm #4152693Brad
Joshy, yes. If you have additional child tax credit and/or earned income credit, it will be delayed to the 15th.
-
January 25, 2017 at 3:05 pm #4152691Joshy
Your total child tax credit is $652. Of that amount $652 is made up of the refundable additional child tax credit.
Does this mean that Its my actc or does that mean my ctc

CTC and ACTC are not the same. Please stop spreading false information. Its like saying USPS when referring to UPS.

In my opinion, it only says “early filers” because if you didn’t file early, Feb. 15th isn’t much later than usual anyway. There’s no point in targeting later filers with that message because it won’t really affect them. They’ll still be issued their refunds within the standard 21 days.
-
January 25, 2017 at 12:11 pm #4152616Brad
There is so much misleading info here. Just because you have a Child Tax Credit, does not mean you will be delayed. It is for ADDITIONAL Child Tax Credit. This is completely different than CTC. Please people, do some research before posting and worrying people

The actual IRS websites states that early filers will be at risk.
Where’s My Refund? on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go phone app will be updated with projected deposit dates for early EITC and ACTC refund filers a few days after Feb. 15. Taxpayers will not see a refund date on Where’s My Refund? or through their software packages until then. The IRS, tax preparers and tax software will not have additional information on refund dates, so Where’s My Refund? remains the best way to check the status of a refund.

The IRS info is misleading. The new law doesn’t affect people who file early…. or their words possibly. =) The new law states …….
1 ‘‘(m) EARLIEST DATE FOR CERTAIN REFUNDS.—No
2 credit or refund of an overpayment for a taxable year shall
3 be made to a taxpayer before the 15th day of the second
4 month following the close of such taxable year if a credit
5 is allowed to such taxpayer under section 24 (by reason
6 of subsection (d) thereof) or 32 for such taxable year.’’.What that means. If get EIC or CTC you will not receive a refund before Feb 15. So I wouldn’t get my hopes up of getting a quick refund.

PATH Act
A new tax law requires the IRS to hold entire refunds of millions of taxpayers until at least Feb. 15. This law, called the PATH Act, contains provisions that help combat tax fraud and may impact approximately 15 million taxpayers who claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. For those who file early, they will have to wait until at least Feb. 15 to get their full refund from the IRS.That is coming from H&R Block page. As Oh can see it says if you file early you could be at risk. So the law will not effect everyone. For those who file early will have to wait until 2/15. If it was for every person who claim child tax credit then they would not specify filing early.

Jessie I’ve been filing my kids for 5 years I don’t let Boone else use my kids either. When I called in today she said she didn’t see any issues and that if I don’t see anything within 21 days to then be worried. I honestly think they gonna take a double look at ppl with EIC if they not your children or you never filed them before. I say that because it’s not right to hold honest ppl money when we need it the most we have kids to take care of. The lady didn’t state to me either that I would have to wait til the 15th she didn’t mention nothing about the new law. I am sure they have until that to review those with EIC but if your is am the same as every year you filed I am sure it will just get approved. We shall see ! I filed with turbo tax did anyone have the option to give ID info to help process them faster? It gave me that option so aim just wondering who else did it

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you claim eitc or the child tax credit your refund WILL be delayed. You have absolutely no chance of getting it early. The PATH act requires the IRS to hold our entire refund until 2/15. So you shouldn’t plan or hope to get it any earlier. It stinks but there is nothing we can do about it.

I filed 1/22 hoping that they clear mines since I didn’t file early. I seen on the IRS twitter page that if you claim EIC and file early it could be delayed. So I am praying that I don’t have any delays. My taxes where accept today.
