Accepted 2/13, WMR updated this morning with a DDD of 3/2.
Any chance I will get the deposit before then?

Hey everyone!
I filed early, got accepted 2/11.
Nothing on irs “wheres my refund” tool but my state (Mass) DD yesterday morning. -
February 23, 2021 at 5:18 am #4458259
My refund deposited Monday mid morning. No pending, checked at 8a, nothing.
Checked at noon, Refund posted and funds available in my account (CU).
My DDD was for 2/25(Thurs), also my State(AZ) finally approved just now and a DDD.
WMR is still at 1 Bar for both my husband and myself.

Filed 2/2 TaxAct. Married filing jointly, EITC and ACTC
Accepted by IRS 2/10
IRSnews said on twitter the WMR is having some issues for some of us. Our WMR bar has been on the first part since the 10th. Hopefully we will all have some answers soon 🤞🏼
Our state refund (South Carolina) was approved and set for today but nothing in the bank yet. It isn’t much but we could really use it. Hopefully at least that comes in tomorrow.
Good Luck everyone 🤞🏼🍀

Any people accepted on 2/14 have any movement yet?!

See everybody keeps talking about codes, but how the heck do I know what my code is if it doesn’t show that I have a return. I just checked 2019 and I was an 05. So maybe that’s what I am? I dunno….gahhh why does taxes have to be so dang complicated,
-
February 18, 2021 at 7:07 pm #4455402
@brittlane08 and @willis I have the same situation. It’s just because your returned hasn’t completed processing. If you are a weekly we will probably see and update in the morning.

My cycle code was 290 Additional tax assessed 20201605 on 05-04-2020 and different cycle code 290 Additional tax assessed 20205302 on 01-18-2021. Any assistance?

A “pather” is someone who falls under the set of laws known as the path (protection against tax hikes) act which, passed in 2015, requires the irs to hold until Feb 15 returns for anyone claiming Earned Income credit or additional child tax credit. While this is irritating for us, the act also secures the future of these credits for those eligible and is really necessary in keeping the credits refundable and of relevant amounts in the future

-
February 18, 2021 at 9:35 am #4455036Elled81
I filed with TT and originally it said it was accepted 2/9. I look today and says it was accepted 2/14. WTH?! I am EIC, and child tax credit. Now I am freaking out. I can not access my transcripts because I have a new cell and it is prepaid and different number.
Anyone else have experience with this?

Well, I finally spoke with someone else at HRB… Here is the main portion of the conversation.. essentially they “sent” my return to the irs on feb 10th and then it came back for review on the 14th ( which they didn’t tell me when i chatted with them on the 15th) … i cant make any changes and so i have to wait for their “Second level” support to reach out in 5days. Probably going to find a new place to file next year….

I actually looked again and one 846 codes was dated last year and the other is Jan 4 of last month. I think my transcript hasn’t updated yet but not sure. Was an early filer and accepted 2/10

I did want to mention that when I looked at the time of filing, the IRS website regarding EITC/ACTC and PATH Act restrictions read differently than it currently reads! They updated on 02/01/21. Previously, the site made no mention of the 02/15/21 earliest-issue date, nor did it say anything regarding an early filer DD date of 02/22. I find these changes very very encouraging.

So what does it mean if you were accepted prior to the actual acceptance date the IRS said. For example I was accepted (still at 1 bar as of this morning) on 2/10/21 and I understand that the IRS wasn’t accepting until 2/12/21. Is that the test batch people often speak of?

There are a few of us that are thinking it has something to do with the form 8915-E it’s for if you took money from your 401K because of the pandemic. From what I have read it’s not an e fileable form and they have to do something special with it. I filed with credit karma and they are saying everything is fine but I’m almost positive that’s why there is a bunch of us not accepted yet. I just don’t know how to get them to fix it.
-
February 16, 2021 at 9:05 am #4453835
@lolar I have checked with H&R Block on the website and it just says pending on their end. I did chat with a rep at HR block yesterday and they couldn’t see any reason why I’m not accepted yet.
the WMR tool tells me that my information is not found. and no activity on my transcripts as of this morning.
Its really weird as I’ve always gotten an acceptance pretty quickly after they open for processing.

It’s so frustrating for me because I’ve been a PATHer for the last 5 years but this year I didn’t qualify for EIC. That means my refund is less than usual but the one good thing was not having to wait so long…Ironic. -

@easytechguy have you logged onto H&R Block to see if you needed to adjust anything? That happened to us and once we fixed it and resubmitted it, they accepted it two days later. Also check WMR to see if they accepted it or not. There have been a few people saying they never got the email or text of acceptance but showed 1 bar on WMR
-
February 15, 2021 at 9:29 pm #4453655Momof3
There are a few of us on here not accepted yet. someone said maybe the form 8915-e. I filed 1/30 I have that form and still not accepted. That seems to be a common factor.

Now the other people will get a small taste of what young families deal with. Make sure you are putting your correct federal return amount. Don’t use the amount you will be getting back from Turbo Tax after they take their fees.

-
February 11, 2021 at 12:15 pm #4452228nomorepathact
@christy many have been accepted with PATH credits. Some are and some aren’t showing up in WMR. That’s what we’re referring to, not acceptance. Two different things.
-

-
February 11, 2021 at 10:31 am #4452194nomorepathact
@deepinthemailstack do you have any credits that fall under PATH? If so then you won’t show up on WMR until they start processing those on Monday probably. I think the people who have been accepted and are showing up on WMR don’t have any PATH credits.

Happy for all you sons of guns(and daughters) that got confirmation. I’m currently smoking a fatty to numb some pain. Filed 1/23, got rejected today 😩😭. All because I didn’t double check. TT told me to find my AGI on line 7 of my 2019 return. So I did. Turns out its line 8 on my return and obviously, a completely different number which caused the rejection. I was so close to that advance guys. Don’t be like me, double check your shit. Sorry not sorry for the language

Actually in the test batches millions of returns are accepted to truly be able to test the system and updates prior to the launch of the official season.

Well tax season is listed as starting 2-12 but a lot of people are getting notifications that the IRS has accepted their return. I think they may have started early. It seems to be too many people for the test batches
-
February 10, 2021 at 7:46 pm #4452107Jenna
Potentially.
I got accepted as a test batch for the second consecutive year and last year I was accepted on the 21st of January and the official date in 2020 was the 27th of January.
I had my refund by the 29th a mere two days after the official acceptance date and well in advance of the estimated up to 21 days.
That’s not to say that you will get it any sooner than if you were accepted on Feb 12th…. Though you may.
-
February 10, 2021 at 7:18 pm #4452096Jenny
I filled with TurboTax on the 11th and was accepted yesterday 02/09/21. Do we receive our refunds earlier? First time ever being accepted early.

Got a email from HR and checked Where my Refund. Our taxes where accepted yesterday, I thought they weren’t going to start accepting til Friday the 12th. We filed 1/8 with EIC and child tax credit. We are at one bar on Where’s my Refund. What is a test batch?
-
February 9, 2021 at 4:03 pm #4451865
I was too stressed out about the Issues the advance accts caused with the stimulus last spring that I didn’t look into one this year.
I even paid my fees upfront to avoid any “loan product” category that’d involve TT routing my $s to STBTG.
I really needed that $. The next 2 wks are gonna go by really slow.
-
February 9, 2021 at 3:56 pm #4451862
@steven7960 did you claim CTC/EITC?
That makes sense of the 02/25 DDD despite your early filing.. I also had a DDD of 02/26/20 but it posted to my CU acct the morning before.
Its not impossible to be accepted a week before in a test batch but if you’re a Pather you still get a DDD until after 2/14.
-
February 9, 2021 at 1:19 pm #4451851
Last year tax season started on January 27th. I filed my taxes on January 22nd it got accepted on January 23rd which was 4 days before tax season officially started. And i got my refund advance literally moments after it was accepted. I was hoping it would be the same this year too. last year i got my federal tax return on February 25th which was almost a whole month after. I just hope i get the refund advance soon because i really need it.
-
February 8, 2021 at 11:47 pm #4451767
I received an Advance Card through TT in 2020 and remember that you don’t get the Advance deposit until the IRS ACCEPTS the return. First it says RECEIVED, then in a day or so they’ll ACCEPT the form (mine usually changes the same day), then you get the advance.
Right now, instead of late Jan, the IRS will begin accepting returns on 2/12. Later when you get processed and approved you get a DDD for your tax refund.
-
February 8, 2021 at 6:25 pm #4451749
Hi everyone…another year gone by! I don’t dare early file; had 1 bad experience so I hold off until mid Feb. Looking to file on 2/15. I figure that will give the IRS a few days to accept returns starting on 2/12, and work out any huge bugs before I hit “Submit” for mine.
-
February 8, 2021 at 3:01 pm #4451729Noblemama
Hello again!! Wow what a freaking year! Hopefully we’re all back and getting ready to get our refunds…even if u got screwed on your refund this year due to losing your job and receiiving the $600 unemployment federal benefit….ugh it cut mine more than in half! What a bummer. Still got the family vacay booked tho so at least thats a plus. Wish unemployment would’ve let us withhold taxes on that $600 extra amount. Oh well. Heres to a quick and easy refund season!! Fingers crossed!
-
February 8, 2021 at 2:20 pm #4451725Dee
Last tax season we didn’t get our refund until July then we received a small deposit from the IRS for interest, our tax lady asked if we received a 1099-INT from the IRS they were supposed to be sent out by the 31st of January. Did anyone who received their Refund late and got interest from the IRS get this form yet?
-
February 8, 2021 at 11:59 am #4451709Hopeful777
Mcd, no worries. So last year, you received DD on the 31st? you didn’t have to wait the 21 days? this is my first year claiming a kid. Filed early.
-
February 8, 2021 at 11:55 am #4451707Mcd
Sorry I have not received anything this year I was later than usual and just filed on January 31. I just wanted to give my experience from last year. IRS always seems to give later dates for expectations but I’ve always received fairly earlier compared to the dates they give. ((Again I have not received my 2020 return $$$ just wanted to give some hope to those who have already filed))

I always file early. Last year I filed January 22 and got it January 31. I checked my bank statement from last year to confirm. And I file for EIC for 2 children. Just FYI.
-
February 7, 2021 at 3:03 pm #4451631
@Jim, you’re absolutely correct when directing criticism towards the IRS or any Government agency. Taxation is theft anyway. But the simple fact they can’t get their shit together each year plus the bureaucracy is utter bullshit. The government couldn’t run a lemonade stand efficiently, they’re not going to run your money they confiscate any better.
-
February 7, 2021 at 11:17 am #4451619
My point is, the IRS deserves every bit of criticism and impatience directed towards them. Maybe not the guys at the bottom reviewing returns, but, like most other government entities, pockets are being lined, systems being milked, and it’s sure not the taxpayers who benefit.
-
February 7, 2021 at 11:16 am #4451618
The fact of the matter is that the IRS is a bloated, dysfunctional bureaucracy. There is absolutely no reason why, in 2021, they cannot simply send these returns within hours of processing. There is absolutely no good reason why they only process electronic deposits and paper checks one day per week each. There’s surely not any delay on them accepting money, now is there?
-
February 7, 2021 at 11:15 am #4451617
I mean … No offense @Carol but I disagree. There aren’t a ton of changes, there are a few. The IRS has been doing electronic returns since 1986. Unless there is a problem flagged by the system, human eyes never see your return. The process is fully automated. And to make changes, they don’t have to reprogram anything. Their software has come a long way from dial up modems 25 years ago. It is indeed almost as simple as changing a few parameters and flipping a switch.
-
February 6, 2021 at 6:56 pm #4451569Carol
Tax season starts on 2/12 this year do to several tax changes. From the late stimulus to the changes with using our 401k during the pandemic etc. There are a tons of changes that must be programmed and setup. It’s not like you just change a couple numbers and flip the switch.
People should start getting refunds by the last week February at the earliest. Those who are pulled into the test batch this Monday may see it earlier.
-
February 6, 2021 at 3:24 pm #4451564
Funny isn’t it? The year we need this money the most we are delayed. Of course.
-
February 5, 2021 at 9:07 pm #4451517Cali2511
I filed today with my tax person and he told me that refunds wont start rolling out until the first week of March. I was s bit disappointed as i thought it may be a little quicker. Hoping it is because i can really use the money for bills this year.

You’ll get WAY less money if you do single instead of head of household, after I got divorced I thought I’d file legally separated but nope I called tt help because I was only gunna get a few hundred that year (I have a daughter so I knew it was supposed to be way more) and they told me to file head of household instead. Got like $3000 instead -

I’m thinking it will be this week or the beginning of next for the advances to start flowing through. I think they are pressing pause because they didn’t know when the 3rd stimulus package was going to come out, and not everyone has received their 2nd stimulus or their 2019 taxes. I think even TT is backlogged.

I filed TT on 1/7 and still have not been accepted. This entire pandemic we’ve been waiting for help and now the government is adding another month of waiting for the tax refunds they owe us.

why is it taking so lng for the IRS to recieve the tax returns so that we can get ur refund advance already. Because every other year it would get accepted on the next business day and the refund advance would be available immediately. and that was before the tax season officially started. but now its already been over a week and im worried because i need that money literally yesterday :/

So this is the first year claiming my daughter and a status change (HoH). Should I change it back to single to avoid a random audit? I have a feeling now that my status is changed, it might delay my tax refund..

Hey everyone just E-filed on 1/29 and am going to be reviewing a paper check. Filed for $0 so no funds being taken out. I realized the year before last having funds taken out makes things take a lot longer sometimes…

Last year, the IRS released a schedule for the test batches prior to the opening of the season, and it was two weeks before. That would set estimated target dates of 2/1-2/2 and 2/8/-2/9 for batches to be run with an opening of 2/12/21.

not yet. Here’s hoping! lol..Would be nice to be in the first test batch. Was thinking the same thing.

They won’t start hub testing until 2/1. Might see some acceptances starting Sunday.
It’s always the first test batch two weeks before opening and the second batch one week before.

To the best of my knowledge no one has been accepted quite yet.
I file early every year including this year. Last year I was lucky enough to be accepted in a test batch and got an early return, but I recall it being something like a week to a week and a half early.
Based on that I wouldn’t expect test batches to be accepted until at least mid to late next week.
