Sent a letter to ID verify, been sent twice, and now about 8 days out since reissuing. How long did it usually take for you to get your IRS letter…. and is there any way around this whole letter process?

@justagey I just called the irs line who confirmed that yes I do need to verify my information before they process and then she referred me to the Tax Payer Protection line. I spoke with a very nice lady who reissued the letter for me since I haven’t received it yet and asked me to allow 14 calendar days to receive it. Hopefully that moves a lot faster than 14 days and even faster after I verify.

            Thanks!

I wound up finding the number for a Tax Advocate, and she verified for me that I am to receive an 8443C letter (ID verification), and she said it’s typical for the letter to take 2-3 weeks to arrive.

So…I guess I’ll just continue waiting. If I don’t have it by middle of March, I’ll be calling and asking a bit more pointedly about my letter.

@justagey when I called last week 2/20 I dialed 800-829-0582 ext. 652 and waiting on hold about 15 minutes. I was told then my return is on hold because they are waiting for a response to a letter that I should receive by 2/27 (still nothing coming today) so I’m going to call on lunch to check on this letter. The rep wouldn’t tell me what the letter was for and I don’t want to assume but I’m pretty sure it’s ID verify considering my transcripts are still blank.

@Stephanie : What number are you calling, and what options are you choosing to talk to a human?

Just asking because I seem to have lost the number I used, and any of the ones I look up just do the automated status check.

@Tp32 well that’s a relief then honestly. I need my freaking letter. I’d rather be waiting to ID verify than a 45 day review hold. I’ve seen people though who have ID verified just last week and have updated with DDD’s so that good news may not have to wait 2-3 weeks either.

Yes my transcripts are still blank. They won’t change until we verify id. We’ll have our refunds 2-3 weeks after that even though they say nine.

I have the same thing happening right now. Been issued a first letter on 2/5 and then another 2/12 and still haven’t received anything. It’s going to be 2-3 weeks on getting our refund after we finally get that letter and we verify id.

I was supposed to get a letter by today..checked informed delivery and nothing. So I’m calling back on lunch today. Hoping its still just ID verify and not this other review crap. Are you guys transcripts still blank?

I’d love to know, too. My letter was supposedly mailed on 2/20, but I haven’t received anything. They even verified that they sent it to my current valid address.
