        They DO Matter

          You people saying transcripts don’t matter are just plain wrong, PERIOD.

          No, they aren’t a GUARANTEE of anything. No, they won’t tell you EXACTLY WHEN you will get your money. What they do is they tell you that your return has been processed. Without seeing the full transcripts in person you won’t be able to tell if there has been a DELAY or not, so no it is not a guarantee.

          Let me tell you guys something. On a completed account transcript, which only shows up along with a completed return transcript, there is something called an 846 CODE. That means refund issued. It means your return has been processed, your refund approved, and a DDD is coming VERY SOON.

          In years past, we could download our transcripts, and people were told to hope for the 846 code. THAT is what the transcripts do. We can’t look at them this year, so we don’t know if they have an 846 code or some sort of delay code, but to say they mean nothing is WRONG.

              @kaylee You’re right, my first point doesn’t apply, but my next post after that is still relevant, so I’m still skeptical.

                Q11: Will ordering a transcript help you determine when you’ll get your refund?

                No, a tax transcript will not help you determine when you will get your refund. This is among the common myths and misconceptions that are often repeated in social media. The codes listed on tax transcripts do not provide any early insight into when a refund will be issued. The best way to check on your refund is by visiting “Where’s My Refund?” While transcripts include a lot of detailed information regarding actions taken on your account, the codes do not mean the same thing for everyone and they do not necessarily reflect how any of these actions do or do not impact the amount or timing of your refund. IRS transcripts are best and most often used to validate past income and tax filing status for mortgage, student and small business loan applications and to help with tax preparation.

                  @Meow I don’t think you understand what they’re saying. The IRS is saying your transcript cannot tell you when you will get your refund. Which is completely true. What people here are asking is what being able to order transcripts mean. If you are able to order transcripts, it means that your tax return has been processed or is being processed, depending on if it’s just one or both returns.

                    There are also people claiming they ordered both transcripts successfully and are now under review. It’s just not necessarily so.

                      Yes, it means everything actually. It means your return has been processed. There are many YouTube videos confirming this as well.

                      No return = refund not yet ready

                      Once you can order it, you’ll have your DDD within 2 days.

                        NO.

                        I don’t know why everyone keeps spreading that around, but no, it doesn’t.

                                @lamoglinsgal

                                Being able to order your return transcript means that your return has been processed and approved. If it’s not available, that hasn’t happened yet.

                                It’s an official transcript you can use for purposes of loans, etc.
