i just checked my transcript this morning and it says code 846 refund issued. and a date of 02 21 2019 ..
does this mean that the money was already sent and it should post in the bank by the 21st or is it saying that they are going to send it on that date. i know WMR is unreliable and slow to update because im still on one bar. anybody knows if i will see money before then? my money will be loaded on a prepaid card.

Did you receive your refund on 21st as promised ??

You will get your money on the 21st unless you have one of the cards like Netspend that sends funds early. If you have a traditional bank like Wells Fargo, Bank of America, etc. you will receive your money on that date.

Ugh it’s super frustrating to keep reading that IRS message 🙄

That doesn’t refer to the 846 code/date. That’s a blanket statement that doesn’t blanket very well. The IRS wouldn’t issue dates next to codes if they didn’t matter. Really the only date people should be focused on is the processing date. This is the date so many people thing means refund and it doesn’t. Your 846 dates are a better indicator of when your refund is to be issued.

To the original poster…come back and let us know what your DDD on WMR says and let us know when you actually get your DD. Let us know if it’s a regular account or prepaid because I know prepaid tends to issue them more quickly then a traditional bank.

TC 846 info I just read on irs.gov website

“Will ordering a transcript help me find out when I’ll get my refund?
A tax transcript will not help you find out when you’ll get your refund. The information transcripts have about your account does not necessarily reflect the amount or timing of your refund. They are best used to validate past income and tax filing status for mortgage, student and small business loan applications, and to help with tax preparation.”

IRS Code 846 Refund of Overpayment, which indicates that the IRS owes the taxpayer a refund of an overpayment of taxes
IRS Code 570 Additional Liability Pending or Credit Hold, which indicates that you could owe money to another government agency or something is amiss with your expected refund
IRS Code 826 Overpayment Transferred, which means that your tax refund was diverted to an old debt like a student loan or child support
You also may find one of any number of transaction or error codes at the top of your transcript. These codes may precede the abbreviation of the Master File under while they were processed. Some of the most common transaction and error codes include:

                    000 I/B/E Establish an Account
011 I/B/E Change EIN or SSN
                    013 I/B/E Name Change
                    017 I Spouse SSN
                    091 B Terminate Small Business
177 I/B Abatement of Estimated Tax Penalty

I thought it was 5 days prior. Or am I confusing the cycle code?

It means the IRS cleared the release of the funds. Whether or not your bank releases them before that date up to to them.
