Irs wmr site … my return has a take action message with no code and under it , a message saying there is a delay in processing your tax return! What does this actually mean? Did I do something wrong? And how long will it take to resolve this matter?

Is it a take action or just a generic 1541? I also have 1541, but nothing in it says anything about needing to take any action.

Filed 1/2, found out 3 weeks later we had to verify identity we did that on 2/18, yesterday was able to order return transcripts, this morning where’s my refund updated to take action! There is a delay in processing your return. And has code 1541. I have no clue why!! This tax year is just ridiculous!! My husband and I have filed married joint for the last 10 years, same dependents, same job until 2015 then changed jobs, but everything is the exact same!! Never had any problems until this year! I don’t understand.

Yes I received this message last week, spoke to rep, hold up on my refund because I didn’t time file 2013. So i filed them, but i had to mail it in. Irs gave 6 week a TAT once those are filed, then they can release my 2016 refund. I am getting a small refund for 2013.

Claiming ANYONE that is incarcerated is a MAJOR RED FLAG… You can only claim someone that lives in your home for AT LEAST 6 months… They have a record of anyone that is currently incarcerated

It took 10 months for them to verify and send a paper check when that happened to me.
Good luck :)

They are looking at alot of brother/sisters..nieces and nephews peopke are carrying….ive been audited before by using my sister about 7yrs ago. It was legit so I got it, but back then it took forever, I had to provide doctor statements, school meetings I went to , I got documentation, gathered all I could to prove I was primary support…it was a headache…

I called. They are open today. The agent took about 15 mins looking over my info and told me as long as I don’t get another letter other then the ID verify one I got my account is being reviewed. It went into this on 1/25 and within 60days I should get something. So I don’t know if that applies on this thread but give them a call.

Actually it is my brother who I had custody of ever since he was 8. He was incarcerated and did not work and i provided money clothes etc. and @Shawanda what do you mean if it is not someone you can prove. I have claimed my brother for the past two years.

its not an offset. I had the same code and had to wait the full 21 days before I could get an answer. Mine is for a mistake on a prior year return.

You said “I did claim someone”, so we can infer that it is not your child you claimed.
I’m guessing you claimed someone as a qualifying relative.
Who did you claim as a dependent? Can you give us more details on that?

It’s an AUDIT.. if not someone you can prove, you won’t get any money … sorry

1541 is an an internal code that the IRS uses to identify returns that have been “Delayed”. The doesn’t mean there is something wrong with your return, it could simply be that the IRS has an overflow of returns at this time and is behind schedule on issues refunds.

Also got 1541. Internet says it could be a million different things, although I know it is not an offset.
