This is the first year I paid the fees up front and I am having my refund deposited into a regular checking account (I’ve always had fees taken out and used Netspend). Does anybody know what day it should hit if my DDD is 2/22? I’ve read you get it sooner on a prepaid card and even through credit unions, didn’t know about timing with a regular bank…

Thanks for the replies everyone! Interesting to see how the different banks process them. Like I said, I’ve always used a prepaid card and had my fees taken out so it’s good to see what I might can expect with paying the fees up front and using a regular bank account :)

Regular bank accounts including many CU checking accounts will deposit day of DDD, they don’t advance ACH like Netspend and other certain types of checking accounts like GoBank.

If you get DD for work paychecks on time (Friday morning on a Friday payday), then you’ll probably get your money right on the DDD. If you get paychecks a day or two early, then your return will probably also come in early because the bank advances money before ACH is complete.

@Eugene – So in your experience with Capital One, if my DDD is 2/22 (that’s what WMR is telling me at least) I should definitely have it by the 22nd, possibly a day or so earlier?

Chase posted my state refund on a Saturday when they received it I’m assuming since my ddd for that was Monday 2/11. It showed pending but was marked as available for me to use and posted with a 2/11 date. Wondering if they will follow the same pattern for our federal return if they get it before the 2/22 date. I’ll be sure to post when I do get it so maybe it will help anyone with a regular Chase account

I have Wells Fargo and they don’t deposit early for anything. My DDD is 2/22

I use capital one. They will post it as soon as it hits the bank. So if you have a ddd of 2/22 and they get it Tuesday you then will get it Tuesday. This is from prior year return and I called Friday asking if they see anything at which point I was told it’s considered a cash deposit that will post instantly. Last year mine deposited on the 21st so look for it by then I would think.

I can wait til Friday too, it’s mostly going into my kids’ college fund (have 1 in college now and 1 graduating high school every other year for the next few years!). But we are also trying to plan a college visit for next weekend and would like to have it for a little extra spending money/hotel/etc so I was wondering if I could count on it being there Friday? Mainly wondering if they put a hold on them or anything?

I get mine deposited every year into my bank, pay fees up front if applicable. I never get mine before the DDD, always on it but I understand that is up to the individual banking institution. This is personal experience. I can wait till Friday personally, I know others are in desperate need

I have Capital One. It’s a major bank in my state but evidently not in every state, so I don’t know if anybody on here will be able to tell me how they handle deposits…

So it depends hugely on which bank you use. Some will credit it as soon as they see it so probably the 21st, some will hold it for a day and it’ll be available on the 23rd. Most banks will credit on the 22nd. This is if your ddd is 2/22
