Hi everyone…I filed yesterday and immediately received notice from HR Block that my taxes would be delayed because of the PATH act. Problem being, I filed neither an EIC or ACTC…I did file a regular CTC but nothing additional. Anyone have this issue, and does it mean irs will hold my tax return or will they see it and process, or does hr Block hold until the right time? TIA

By now you probably got an email from H&R Block. I, too, filed with them and got an email about the EITC or ACTC (neither of which pertain to us). Later, I got an email update saying there had been an error.

I filed on 0/18 and was accepted on 01/19. I filed online w/hr block free e-file and had Single w/1 dependent. WMR site showed 1 bar.

I never got an email regarding holding return or whatever it is.

I received the same email from H&R block regarding the EIC & ACTC, which I had neither of. I just had the general non refundable child tax credit. I noticed on H&R Block forum they had a similar question and the rep from H&R block said that it was a flaw with the tax software and to ignore it. Sure enough this morning I received another email from H&R block saying the first was sent in error and that my return contained neither of the credits, so just to disregard the first one.

Interesting, so is the consensus that if you filed the ctc but not actc or eitc that our refunds won’t be held?
I’m in that boat too. HOH, 2 dependent, no eitc or actc. Accepted on 1/13. Sounds like I’m in the test batch…..awesome.

The additional child tax credit is the refundable portion of the child tax credit.. it does not mean there is any new child to be claimed.

I as well as a friend had no changes from prior year returns and always go through hnr block we both did have a weeks delay for both last year due to us filing early and being stuck in queue. (We file early or on the exact open tax season day for previous years also.) I filed yesterday for both of us before 5pm est in NY and i got the same standard email from hnr block about the delays due to the new law. Me and my friend both claim 2 dependents each and HOH nothing changed from last year. About an hour ago i got a text saying the irs accepted both returns. If i have an update i will update with a new post!

I also have the same message on HR Block and did not claim either credit. My return was accepted by the IRS today.
