I currently owe back taxes and my update on 2/21 was a new As Of Date for 3/9. Every tax year has the “info unavailable” with the plus sign on my account. Not sure if it’s an audit at this point. But, I’m sure that my refund will be delayed. If you’re money is delayed this year, share your details here. This way, we all still have a thread after others receive their refunds.

As of 3/23 shows up top next to my new amount and after 826 credit transferred it shows 3/23. Then it’s another 971 3/23 but already got that letter Saturday that they took what was owed
Yes my 2019
846 showing for 3/18🙏🏼
@lilo, praise God! See, it’s not always the worst case. The IRS likes to give itself some wiggle room (on a galactic scale)! -

@Yvonne, you could possibly have a DDD for 3/18 or 3/25. This Friday will be another update for transcripts.
-
March 9, 2020 at 4:36 pm #4391095
Eriica @tryingtopatientlywait. As of date is 3/23. Twice
-
March 9, 2020 at 3:59 pm #4391077
@Yvonne Is the As Of Date 3/16 on your 2019 Transcript? Midway through the page the As Of Date will be listed twice.

I owed Federal. Transcript shows 826 credit but still no DDD date. IRS agent I worked with said should be paid by end of month but he couldn’t give an exact day :(
When i try WMR it now shows wrong amount even with my offset total so waiting for Friday🙏🏼
-
March 9, 2020 at 9:18 am #4390855
Gofigure is right. If it’s an offset code on your transcripts and it’s now paid, your next update should be this Friday. Hopefully, your DDD will be 3/18.
-
March 9, 2020 at 9:15 am #4390850
@Yvonne Was your debt a federal tax debt (back taxes) or for something else (student loans, etc)?
-
March 9, 2020 at 9:14 am #4390848Gofigure
@Yvonnr
Your WMR says you are being reviewed? Your transcript probably won’t get a release code til Friday morning. Did u call offset number? Sometimes it will give u a date (that’s what I have read at one point in time in here). -
March 9, 2020 at 8:55 am #4390840
Now shows offset paid (0) balance but still no ddd yet. When will I see update? Also transcript still same. Wmr says being reviewed. If they paid off offset then my refund should be approved, yes?
-
March 8, 2020 at 9:55 am #4390529
I have the same thing. Info not available but transcript show deducted for 3/9. Waiting…..

@aands3511 CONGRATS!!! 🎊🎉🍾 Now, the last wait of the season…the deposit. But, we all finally made it! Happy spending and see ya in 2021!
-
March 7, 2020 at 6:14 pm #4390357
Update!!! This morning I logged onto wmr. And boom I have a DDD of 3/11 with my offset amount!!!
-
March 6, 2020 at 8:38 am #4389453
@tryingtopatientlywait sorry for falling off once I got my info I stopped checking everything because it is exhausting! Anyways I was told my refund has an offset date assigned which can’t be moved it’s set for 3/19. So sometime after that I should have my refund. Still annoying but glad I have a clear expectation of when I should have it so hopefully the DDD after the debt is set to clear I’ll see funds! Congrats to all who are in the working gears of the irs.

@erica , nope no update for me. Debt is cleared and showing as zero, but they continue to say it’s a “waiting game” like literally used those words regarding the balance of the refund. Honestly I get so frustrated with the lack of information provided from every angle from I just stopped checking. I’ve yet to get a letter and literally nothing has changed on their website except they got their money, go figure!
-
March 5, 2020 at 4:53 pm #4389221
@annoyed @AngryFLMan @aands3511 Any updates for you all? If you’re still waiting and can access your transcripts, tonight is the night!! Another round of updates.
-
February 28, 2020 at 1:05 pm #4385530
@AngryFLMan I read that, as well. But, I was sure to ask about that when I talked to the rep from the Balance Due dept. She assured me that the difference/refund will be direct deposited. BTW, I still haven’t received the letter and I was told that it was mailed on 2/10.
-
February 28, 2020 at 1:01 pm #4385527AngryFLMan
@erica. I originally opted for DD. I read online if you receive that notice you will receive a paper check. I would rather it be DD
-
February 28, 2020 at 11:46 am #4385466
@AngryFLMan I was told that I will be receiving a CP49 letter via mail. I haven’t received just yet. But, my tax debt has been cleared and the difference is being direct deposited into my account. I’m not getting a paper check. IMO, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of weeks to get a check mailed to you.

Update all of you owe irs from previous filling year and your refund is not updating and/or frozen. You can call the debt resolution line 1800 829-7650 to have them attach funds to current return and release. Although everything is case by case mine and someone below both had success with this option. There computers went down while I was on the line but I am calling back in two hours and getting this issue resolved. Good luck.
-
February 27, 2020 at 12:34 pm #4384623
@aands3511 Good luck to you! It may be just the help we need to get our refunds back moving.
@Lovelygrl My Transcript has been complete since 1/25, but never received 570 nor 971. I only have the regular codes like 150, 766, etc. Not one code indicating there was a debt, but I already knew about it. Just goes to show there’s been no movement for me since 1/25.
-
February 27, 2020 at 12:34 pm #4384622annoyed
@Erica, that’s awesome!!! I’m super happy for you. When we called, they transferred us also and gave us the balance owed, and the amount of our debt, but said it will be three weeks :( … maybe i will call back today!
-
February 27, 2020 at 12:19 pm #4384612Lovelygrl
@Erica congrats never heard of that department before..so some 570 actually do mean something
-
February 27, 2020 at 12:04 pm #4384592
@tryingtopatientlywait I’m on hold now. I did press option to discuss tax debt which had a longer wait time then the normal call center so we’ll see if not I’ll call back and retry with a regular agent. Thanks so much I felt hopeless when they told me my refund was frozen for two weeks because of the old debt. Fingers crossed.
-
February 27, 2020 at 12:03 pm #4384589Lovelygrl
congrats @Erica so your 570 was a debt you owed?? I have never heard of balance due department either lol
-
February 27, 2020 at 11:57 am #4384583
@aands3511 The rep that I spoke to first transferred me to the Balance Due dept with a transfer PIN. I’m not sure if you can ask to be transferred there, but you can definitely try!
-
February 27, 2020 at 11:51 am #4384575
@tryingtopatientlywait how did you get to the “balance due” department?
-
February 27, 2020 at 11:36 am #4384569
@annoyed (cont’d) She put me on hold then, came back to let me know that the difference (she literally had the exact correct amount) will be released tomorrow and my DDD will be 3/4. She said that I was one of the lucky ones that she could actually help today and not make angry! I’m so freaking happy!!!!!!!!!!
-
February 27, 2020 at 11:35 am #4384566
@annoyed Welp, I have an update!!! Called back today and was transferred to the Balance Due dept and spoke with a great rep. First, she apologized for my return sitting frozen in the system. She discussed my tax debt with me and let me know that she has linked my 2019 return to the debt.
-
February 27, 2020 at 9:09 am #4384381
Had an offset w/ a WMR msg of “by 3/2” My refund hit my citibank account last night. Good luck to you all, I pray you all get your refunds in a timely manner 🙏💰

Same here. I have access to my transcripts, and I look forward to some type of update. I’m rather dissatisfied with how the returns this year have been handled thus far. I’ll post if anything moves on my return as well.
-
February 27, 2020 at 6:46 am #4384215
I’m hoping that those of us that can access our transcripts will have updates in the morning (2/28). I still have the As Of Date 3/9. One would think that something has to change before 3/9 in order for processing to be completed by that date. I’ll be sure to update here whether it be good, bad or more of the same.
-
February 27, 2020 at 6:43 am #4384208
@Missy Lea You might want to call and get more details. If WMR has updated with that info, a Rep can further explain.
-
February 27, 2020 at 1:36 am #4383958Missy Lia
The wmr website says my refund has been applied to past due balance. I know I have an offest but stpg has my info in their system. I don’t know what is going on. Should I be worried??

-
February 26, 2020 at 8:44 am #4381247
WMR says tax topic 203 but transcripts say DDD for full amount today, 2/26, with no codes indicating any type of offset or any other unusual tax codes. 🤷♀️ Who knows…I guess we’ll find out shortly.

Question someone ! I have a offset for a small portion of my refund I have no official direct deposit date.. it just says if not deposited by March 2 give them a call .. is it guarantee that it will be in my account by March 2?
-
February 25, 2020 at 2:02 pm #4377258
I called the advocate and was told there was nothing they could do because my return was basically rejected for not having all the necessary forms. Thanks TurboTax.
-
February 25, 2020 at 1:55 pm #4377226
Ok I have a question . I have a open audit and I am fighting it they say i owe back taxes but i disagree its over a divorce but I went ahead and filed for this year and no delays and already approved for the full amount for the 26th I was wanting to know if its already approved could the irs still take any out?
-
February 25, 2020 at 1:32 pm #4377134Impatiently Waiting
I had an offset according to the offset line and I just received my DD in full. No offset taken. DDD was 02/2.
I am not sure how that happened but it sure did. -
February 25, 2020 at 1:01 pm #4377001
(Cont….) Also she mentioned a lot of turbo tax filer have this same problem they option was never given. Once I fax it will take 6-8 weeks from that date to process. Even thou a lot of people say it gets processed within the next week! Turbo tax says it’s to early to amend and that’s the area I need for 8962 so I have to download they amend system and do it tonight online. Hope this helps.

February 25, 2020 at 1:00 pm #4376997
UPDATE for me : Just got off the phone with IRS. Marketplace sent my insurance form to the wrong address so I wasn’t aware I had insurance form so even thou I filed on 1/14 it’s been considered “incomplete” since then . No updates on WMR and transcripts say NA. No letter was sent yet so I just have to attach my insurance form as well as an 8962 form and fax it to them (cont..)

@casandria I did not file my daughters’ w2 nor 1095 on mine. They filed those on their own returns, but I carried them as dependents because they are college students, and I take care of them and I pay their tuition outside of any grants and scholarships they receive. They both work part time and do Door Dash every now and then.
-
February 25, 2020 at 12:53 pm #4376965
@nanamom47 I would definitely call a tax advocate.
-
February 25, 2020 at 12:51 pm #4376958annoyed
@Erica that’s good news, at least you know what’s going on and you will finally received your money! We called yesterday and were told that it’s taking longer because of the deduction but the refund will be released within 3 weeks less the deduction.
-
February 25, 2020 at 10:49 am #4376546
I’m new to being delayed. Apparently, I was supposed to file my daughter’s 1095a with my taxes as well as hers because she is still a partial dependent. TT didn’t prompt for it at all. I received the letter yesterday and faxed everything over. Would calling the tax advocate help move things along at all? I’m a PATHer and really can’t wait 6 to 8 weeks for them to reprocess everything.
-
February 25, 2020 at 9:56 am #4376360
I’m in review as of 2/3 but the IRS keeps saying no letters have been sent. I’m so darn confused
-
February 25, 2020 at 9:54 am #4376353
Correction: The letter is a CP49.
-
February 25, 2020 at 9:29 am #4376269
Update: I called to check on my return just to be sure. I will be receiving a letter (CP45…I think) that will explain why my refund was reduced. I already know why, so I’m good with that. I was told that Saturday 2/29, WMR will update with a DDD for 3/4. I’m so glad the process is just about over. @annoyed
-

@Molly, that could be possible I think I had both of those credits, although I’m not sure. I know I have EIC and The American Opportunity something or other for college education credit.
-
February 22, 2020 at 9:38 am #4368043
Molly
I read delays are for refunds with both credits. EIC and additional child tax credit. -
February 22, 2020 at 9:31 am #4368023
Topic 203 means reduced refund and that’s probably due to the advance
-
February 22, 2020 at 9:27 am #4368021
If you have an offset before you file your taxes you should call this number OFFSET HOTLINE 800 304 3107 It will tell you if you have an offset and it will give you a number to call happen to me in 2015 I had an offset due to student loan lapsing once I field before I called my refund was reduced by $2600 and was sent a check for the difference which did not take long at all but I call this number every year before I file my taxes
-
February 22, 2020 at 9:20 am #4367996

I have nothing. I tried to call them too late so I will have to wait until Monday to call. I have no letter, no tax topic, no codes other than the regular 150, 766, 768. I have no Direct Deposit information, this is troubling. They changed my “as of” date to 03/09 out of nowhere. Maybe they re-sequenced me to be sure sure about my dependents? It’s my first year filing married jointly, but it’s my same dependents. 2 children in college and 1 school aged child. I’m so confused, lol!
-
February 22, 2020 at 8:17 am #4367803
Got the dreaded tax topic 151. I’m assuming I’m about to have to verify dependents or provide endless amounts of paperwork and wait months to receive something. Does anyone have any experience with a code/some other info updating on the refund tracker prior to receiving the letter? Also, is there an off chance it’ll just change? Not sure what’s going on yet.

Question someone help! I never received any letter stating I had an offset. When my WMR updated this morning it got approved but stated it might be less to pay a balance which I had no idea about. That’s fine if I have an offset but am I suppose to receive a letter? And also does anyone know if your transcript will tell you that info because on mine it tells me the DD date but it has my full refund owed to me and no amount of what the balance is after the offset.
-
February 22, 2020 at 2:36 am #4367066
From what I’ve seen everyone say offsets dont delay ur refund at all
-
February 22, 2020 at 2:34 am #4367063
Omg yall! So I got a 4464c letter of review on 2/11. File N accepted 1/27 with TT…both PaTH credits. Cant view my transcripts. I jus called the offset line and they took my lil money owed from 3 yrs ago when I forgot to file my state as of 2/26 😱😱😱 didnt file state yet this year. I’m getting my monies! I thought for sure I’d have to wait the whole 60 day review. My WMR hasn’t updated yet but I dont even care!!! 🤑🤯🤑

@Wondering, Honeybee is right! Get a tax advocate to get the issue cleared up and push the process along. You need definitive answers and dates. The IRS will string you along forever.
-
February 21, 2020 at 6:56 pm #4366144Honeybee
@Wondering
I went through a similar situation last year….if you get a good tax advocate you can fax the w2s or whatever right to them…..
Long story short i got mine back last year on 3/11 with the help of an advocate
-
February 21, 2020 at 6:17 pm #4366022Wondering
@Erica I called the IRS and the lady said that they had verifying wages in the notes. So that was the hold and there is no date for refund or when it would be completed. I have no idea what any of that means. Taxes were pretty straight forward, my husband had the only income. So I don’t know.

-
February 21, 2020 at 4:22 pm #4365720
@Wondering You should another code shortly that will have a short description by it that refers to your injured spouse claim. That should pop up next. But, not sure on how long it’ll be.
-
February 21, 2020 at 4:20 pm #4365716annoyed
@Erica, thank you.
-
February 21, 2020 at 3:44 pm #4365601Wondering
I have student loans in default (they took our refund every year and I still owe), we filed jointly and injured spouse this year for the first time (we didn’t know about it before). The 570 says 3-2-2020 and $0 on my transcript and when I called the offset line it said I had no offset. Does that usually mean they approved the injured spouse and my husband will get full refund as he had the only income? How long do you think I will have to wait to know for sure and to get refund?
-
February 21, 2020 at 3:29 pm #4365555
The reason why we’re delayed is due to joint accounts. The tax debt from 2014 actually belongs to my husband, but we’re no longer together (separated). But, the last time we filed jointly was 2014. I filed first and IRS is taking it from me. Not happy about that, but it is what it is and filing injured/innocent spouse takes too much time.

@annoyed The tax advocate stated that they can’t rush it b/c she can literally see the debt processing in the system. She assured me that all is well and provided callback info for my tax advocate if I don’t get my refund before March 9th. With all that said, it’s definitely worth calling a tax advocate!!!

@annoyed Ok, I spoke with a tax advocate and she dove deep into my account. She stated that my refund is being held right now due to the back taxes from 2014. She also confirmed that the IRS rep that I spoke to was correct. It will be two weeks to process the debt and take it from my refund. They have until March 9th.

@annoyed Where are you seeing an AS OF date? Transcript? WMR? My WMR says they are still processing

@KatieB, sorry i don’t have answers for you but I’m in the same situation except i have no direct deposit date, lol. Same cycle code and as of date, but instead of mine changing to an 846 with DDD, my as of date got pushed to 3/9. So frustrating, not the fact that I don’t have the money, but the fact that i have no clue what is going on. No tranasparency.
-
February 21, 2020 at 2:57 pm #4365393annoyed
That’s true @erica, because other people are claiming to have offsets but have still received their DDD. So, tax advocate?
-
February 21, 2020 at 1:42 pm #4365352KatieB
I am cycle code of 0200505
processing date : 2/17
Woke up this morning to my transcript giving me a 846 Refund Sent with 2/26 dateMy husband was told he had an offset but our full refund amount is listed…So are they not doing the offset this year?
I’m confused are they not taking the money….I can’t seem to get a straight answer from anyone with DOE, IRS or Treasury all they say is it COULD be taken. -
February 21, 2020 at 1:36 pm #4365331
@annoyed, I spoke to a really nice rep earlier and he told me to allow up until 3/9 for an update. But, I can’t just sit here and hope he’s right. 3/9 could come and go with no update. I’ve been here before and I’m tired of the unnecessary long delay for info/updates every year.
-
February 21, 2020 at 1:36 pm #4365330annoyed
What is the “as of” date mean?
-
February 21, 2020 at 1:28 pm #4365312annoyed
@ Erica , Oh wow, maybe i should do that because the amount has not changed on my transcript at all. It just has the same code, same refund amount, then this morning the date changed to 3/9 but i know that my husband owes because he got the letter from the IRS, and on his 2018 transcript it shows an amount owed. Yes, how frustrating for us both.
-
February 21, 2020 at 1:21 pm #4365305
@annoyed, I’m trying to keep cool, but it’s frustrating! IRS has literally updated the debt amount on my account AND transcripts every single week. They just updated the balance this morning. But, the excuse is that the system is trying to determine how much the debt is and connect it to my account!?!? Smh. I’m holding for a tax advocate now.
-
February 21, 2020 at 1:18 pm #4365300annoyed
The same thing is happening to me @Erica. My husband owes a very small balance, and we filed jointly this year, go figure. He got his notice in October of 2019 that he owed. All i see on my transcript is 150 766 and 768 and the date change.
I just ….. annoyed lol

@Ronnie, no I have no codes indicating a hold or transfer of credit to the tax debt. Not even a 971 for notice sent. Maybe I’m moving early, but my tax return (per 5 reps at IRS) has already completed processing and I’m waiting on them to take the debt from my refund. I just have the regular codes…150, etc.
-
February 21, 2020 at 12:51 pm #4365236Ronnie
Did you see a code on your transcript about the amount owed?
-
February 21, 2020 at 12:38 pm #4365198
@alex7661 You should receive a letter soon explaining the amount and if it will be taken from your refund. The rep told me earlier that I should receive a letter very soon explaining my debt.

Still says processing for me but pretty sure I’m getting offset this year…tried calling the number to find out how much and only got a “could” be used to offset my refund but didn’t give me an amount…does it give the amount when I get my ddd?

UPDATE: After 4 reps, I finally got an extremely nice rep who took over 20 mins to go over my account with me. Long story short, my back taxes have delayed the release of my refund. The reason why my As Of Date was changed to 3/9 is b/c the IRS is giving themselves two more cycles aka weeks to deduct the back taxes from my refund and release the difference to me BEFORE 3/9. That’s what the rep told me. I’m hoping to see a DDD first week of March.

Did they tell you that there was a delay? And what letter are you expecting?
-

I just hung with a rep from IRS and she stated that she can see the tax debt. But, she couldn’t tell if the debt will be deducted from my refund just yet. So, I have to call collections at 8am.

@erica will you let us know what they say once you’ve spoken to a live person? I tried to comment about my situation but the site keeps giving me an error.

@Erica, I hope w you. I know these are tough shoes to fill w dignity, grace and PATIENCE. My sister will be done by next season. And all 8k will finally be hers. She’s already excited about that. I felt worse about the news this yr for her than she did. She’s a trooper that one..
-
February 21, 2020 at 7:09 am #4364271
@Target I wish they would hurry up and take back what I owe! Lol! I don’t owe back my full refund, just a portion. But, the IRS keeps changing my As Of Date and nothing else. No codes, just the regular ones. I’m on the phone with the IRS right now!
-
February 21, 2020 at 7:09 am #4364260Momof2wifeofone
Erica,
The 3/9 date is the date they will owe you interest, or has your as of date changed to 3/9?
-
February 21, 2020 at 7:06 am #4364262Target
If you owe back taxes, they take all of what you owe. Prepared my sister’s, this yr. She owes back, they garnish her wages already. She was expecting Almost 8k this yr, but it has been intercepted. We both were already aware it would. Well, I was. When she asked if I thought they’d hijack it all, I was honest w her – YES! She’s fine w it as she put it, the sooner they’re off my back.
Good luck to everyone in these shoes.

Hey I’m not sure if im delayed I certainly hope not guess ill find out tomorrow but I was told 3 different things today the last thing being that I was resequenced and they added 2 weeks to my 21 days. that sounds bizarre. I have been on still processing for a while with TT152 at first I didn’t show my refund amount but it reappeared during the Wednesday update. so I am hopeful.
