Hey all! Just want to give some of you a heads up, I filed 1/28 and accepted 1/29 (PATHER) and still haven’t had an update accept the wmr which says still processing. So I decided to get on my IRS account online and it had a not vibrant Notification that said verification of my tax return.

So I decided to call the IRS this morning and this is what I found out. Our return has been selected randomly for the Tax Payer Protection Act Verification. Simply put they are trying to make sure we aren’t committing fraud or aren’t impersonating someone else. A letter will be sent out and they said that I can’t verify anything without the letter! She said give it another 7 to 10 day to get the letter and if I don’t receive it in 2 weeks to call back to get it resolved.

Moral of the story? Check your IRS account for notifications and make sure to call them if it’s been a while. I know, I know I was impatient but this paid off. Another 7 to 10 days minimum here I come!

Did the notification in your IRS account online look something like this…

            “”
            Notifications
Verify Your Tax Return Information Now
We need more information about your 2022 tax return before it can be processed.

Go Paperless for Certain IRS Notices
Set your profile preferences to receive IRS notices online.””

I received a letter to verify. There is a control number on the letter that has to be typed in. Verification can be done online and it only takes a few minutes.

This was very helpful!!! I logged into my irs account and it said they sent me a letter to verify. I requested a new letter but they did inform that it could take up to 3 weeks to receive it.

@Jess, the notice was not there, but there was a spot smack dab in the middle of the page that tells him to verify his identity, but it asks for a code from the letter. 🙄

@KD so he could see the verification notice in his IRS account? I have checked everyday and i still have no notices and no movement. I moved but i submitted an address change. This has never happened. Like you i filed separate this year.

This was our first year filing separately and he only claims one kid now where I claim the others. Mine was accepted and processed with no issues so I kinda feel bad for him. LOL Someone else said on here that they never got the letter and they called and just did it over the phone and they sent them on for processing and supposed to get their refund like two weeks later so I’m hoping my ex husbands will be the same way.

I helped my ex husband file his before I even filed mine and his was accepted but had no movement. I finally helped him get an IRS account and checked it after like two weeks, he had no notices but it said that he needed to verify as well. We chose the “send another notice” but he hasn’t received it yet. If he doesn’t receive it by the end of the week then we will call the IRS.

I wish i would get a notification. I have gotten nothing. Just still processing. I was accepted 1/18. Waited the PATH out but nothing has changed.

I have the same issue! Told me to call back in two weeks, but I have not received any notification, any update to WMR , or transcripts. Also this is a long process . Once they verify, it can take another 9 weeks to process.
We are in for a long wait.
