Debt Collectors CAN garnish 3rd stimulus!

Another post was asking about tax garnishment on stimulus which made me decide to post this. Back taxes, state or federal, child support, student loans can NOT be garnished from 3rd stimulus check. However, debt collectors CAN..unless your specific state says otherwise. A few states will not allow it. So, if you are not in one of those states and owe bill collectors, get to an atm ASAP and get your $$ out!!!

@rocco2776 Yes, that is what I thought, Yet, two of my bank accts were frozen …no notice..no nothing. I did receive a judgment in the mail but it mentioned nothing about my bank accounts and I fought it in court. I showed up and found out at THAT time that Portfolio Recovery/CSC already froze my bank accounts before I even went to cpourt to fight it!!! They are sneaky.

You cant be garnished without a court judgement. So you would have had to be sued

If you can not not get to an atm but believe bill collectors will garnish you, pay bills online using your debit card ASAP…just don’t let the $ sit there!
