Dear IRS,
My refund is my money, you took taxes from my paycheck that I worked to receive. Why is it that unemployment benefits go out every month without delay, but you can’t seem to return my money to me on time once a year? Your employees seem to forget that if it was not for our income they would be out of a job, you work for us.

IRS employees are just office workers doing what they are told. I have 2 family members that are agents. They do not have the ability to process our hold refunds on a whim to screw you over. They are following the law and the rules given to them.

Of course I’m venting……and yes they are making lots of money on interest by holding it for an extra two weeks.
I filed 1/28 and did not even check WMR until yesterday, and refuse to call them this year, haven’t looked at or ordered my transcripts because it’s the same story every year. The one conclusion I’ve come to is…..you’ll get it when you get it and not a day sooner.

Is holding the money really for fraud protection though? Every day they hold millions upon millions of dollars. Is more interest in their accounts. Sure a month of interest doesn’t add up for the normal person. But when you are talking millions or billions. I’m not saying that’s it, but I’m not saying I would doubt it either.

I agree ! I doubt the IRS stops many fraudsters by withholding our returns so damned long. It’s my money and I am sick of Uncle Sam not paying me any interest on it. When I had an over due tax payment due to the IRS the interest on what I owed was compounded DAILY !!!
