If WMR shows a deposit by 2/5/2020, do you typically see that before (since it says by), on, or after? Or could it be really any depending on the bank?

But I did have a TA waited for two weeks , she happen to call yesterday morning said she sent in everything and she will check on me 45 days from yesterday. Woke up was so scared to check wmr and boom filed 01/27 today 3/14 got a ddd of 03/18 !!!

Its your social security account. You can make one with the ssa my account. It shows your reported wages through the years . And what your SSI income maybe. But they supposedly from all I have read and even talked with ssa they report wages to irs or the main file for the irs to go off of or match return to for verification.

I agree with @justpeachie . Mine is been delayed with wage verification. But SSA didnt have my wages reported till 3/7 . Review starts from what I was told 3/9 . So if everything is good including my return matches SSA . We should get DDD this week . Only thing idk Is I had issue verifying to get transcript. And never ordered either. So never knew codes or what my cycle is assuming I’m Weekley. But I did get return last year on a friday but that can change year to year.

I’m keeping faith that’s the case . After talking with a CPA they said SSA reports to IRS. So since it’s a review on my wages I’m thinking that’s been the hold up . I know he is correct as I am a AR Manager and I’m the one who sent them in . My co worker got hers the 2/26 same credits . So that’s got to be the only thing??? Fingers crossed . Been reading this forum for weeks so been super helpful !

I spoke to a irs representative today around 8am, she advised me they will start releasing refunds starting the 24th of feb deposits either at the end of that week or the first few days of March. Most pathers are weekly. Transcript update will generally happen Thursday night and be available to view friday. If you are able to view your transcripts you will know your ddd from that or wait until weekly wmr update Saturday. I was hopeful for something earlier as well, but it appears our patience will have to extend to the weekend.

I believe that are processes and the messages are genetic how the IRS has it setup. So mostly all waiting should start seeing deposits this week.

Those of you who have the 2-12 deposit and are already seeing updates on SBTPG like the big circle and showing the fees then you are already steps ahead of where we (the group from last week with 2-05 DDD that didnt receive ours until the 7th,8th, 10th, and even 11th, cuz of a glitch) were! So I wouldn’t worry too much, u probably won’t be running into the same issue as we did…Our group didn’t show any updates from SBTPG until days after our DDD and after many calls and emails..on the 7th Sbtpg was still saying they hadn’t received our refunds when the IRS told us they had already sent the refunds on 2-05!…so if ur already seeing updates or it says they received ur refund then ur already doing better than we were at that point! But ya never know, I guess a freak glitch could happen again but hopefully they have fixed it and can prevent it from happening again…but I will tell u that even without an issue, u shouldn’t expect ur refund on the DDD the IRS gave you if ur having fees taken out from turbo tax because even though they say they take fees out and send to your bank right away, they told me that they can take up to 48 hours to process and send your refund AND then it could take even longer for your bank to process and release the funds to you….so be prepared, there is a good chance some of you might not get it on DDD unfortunately, but some of you may have even received it a day early…Good luck and I hope you all don’t run into the same problem we did!

I called sbtgp because we are expecting DDD 2/12. They said they received the transmission notification from the IRS but have not received the money. This is my third year on igmr, and I don’t even “belong” in this thread because I’m a PATHer so I’ve got at least another week to wait, probably more (we aren’t even seeing DDD’s or bars yet). But I decided to check out this thread to see if you earliest recipients were having trouble which the rest of us might run into. What I’m gathering is that the IRS is functioning fine, BIG relief, but yall are having the same problem I see every year, with the third party fee collector, and maybe Turbo Tax in some ways, in some cases.
I hope not to offend anyone by saying this, like if the harshness of this year has already “taught you a lesson”, or if you can’t apply any of this advice because of something in your circumstances. This is just my advice for anyone to consider and apply if you want.
So basically everyone here is at the mercy of FOUR entities (TT, then the IRS, then SBTPG, then your bank), all of whom do things on THEIR schedules, like not working weekends, holidays, etc., all of them having the potential for systemic glitches, and all of them having the potential to mis-enter one digit of your information and mess up everything just for you. And with their websites and phone customer service being AWFUL, it’s almost impossible to find out if your delay is just ‘you’ or more widespread. Even if you manage to get a human, they can be clueless, incorrect, or purposely deceitful just to get off the phone with you.
So to maximize your deposit speed:
1. DEFINITELY pay your fees up front if you can. Even with the very best case scenario, SBTPG will delay you having access to your money by at least one day. They are like a bridge troll and they are UN-NEC-ESS-ARY!!!
2. Having your deposit go to a traditional bank account and routing number is (for many people) at least another day delay. Get a Netspend card before next January, even if only for this reason. I have the Paypal debit card, which I love for too many reasons to go into here, but getting my tax refund and my job paychecks a day “early” is a biggie. –I put “early” in quotes because really I’m just getting my money the same day the payor pays it; all my coworkers or anyone having their refund deposited into a traditional bank account are being DELAYED.
3. Just from what I’ve observed over the years,TT is getting too big for its’ britches. Next year try another e-file preparer. I’ve used Taxslayer for several years and never had the slightest problem. If I do need to ask them something their customer service is fast, friendly and accurate. This year I decided not to do my state taxes through them because my state refund is puny, less than the add-on price for e-filing would be, and so I paid only $17 to e-file my IRS return. And it took me like 15 minutes start-to-finish because they import all my information from the prior year, and their format is so user-friendly, idiot proof. LOL I’m not a paid spokesperson for Taxslayer but I should be, I’ve gotten so many friends and family members to switch to them.

I will absolutely be attempting to get that fee back. I have never had fees deducted before so it was weird they charged me for that. There is a way to split a refund into multiple accounts via the irs for free. Preparers have done it for years.

To know these people open accounts for fees then dd to the taxpayer after the fact is just sloppy because things like this happens. I’m definitely going to contact them about this.

I paid TurboTax $40 to include State w Fed. Used JH last year and I don’t believe they did because my State was mailed via check a week or so later. Hopefully avoided that this yr! If they’ve done that successfully, they earned my 40..

Honestly..no one can really answer ur question about when your refund will make it to your account. There are so many factors that affect it. This thread was about people scheduled to get a deposit on the 5th and has now kind of turned into a thread about 2-05 DDD people who had fees taken out from turbotax and had an issue which delayed receiving their refunds. Your refund could be in your account on Monday or it may take longer. All I can say to people waiting for their refund Is don’t make plans expecting your money on the day the IRS has it scheduled to deposit cuz ya never know..

Yeah I’ve learned my lesson this year. In previous years I’ve never experienced this. I’ve always had fees taken out and received my refund on the morning of my ddd. Luckily for me, I didn’t need the money for bills but it’s still very annoying to go through this. Between all the emails to sbtpg and checking their site and my bank’s site for days, they should probably pay that $40 processing fee to ME. lol

I feel very bad for those who depended on their refund for bills. It’s horrible the position sbtpg has put people in.

Same here. Nothing in bank yet but I’m not expecting anything until Monday. Optically, it looks bad how they closed our tickets. My tickets were all closed with this message: “We were unable to process your request with the information provided. If you feel this is in error, please respond back to the original email to reopen the ticket.”

Such BS as I gave them all of my info and they were able to pull up my accounts with that info. They could have used another reason for closing like “Closed due to issue being resolved” or something.

My question: If I continue using Turbo Tax but pay for my own fees, does my refund still have to go through SBTPG? If so, then I may need to find another tax filing company too.

Just dropping in after reading a slew of horror stories about SBTPG. Mainly last year and 2018 of people saying they waited WEEKS for their “identity verification” via SBTPG….or only being sent a portion of their refund

I am in full panic mode, now knowing I’m so close and getting defeated by these horror stories of SBTPG holding money, not responding to calls, asking for photo ID’s, mailing checks weeks later.

They always say never to bank on money that’s not in hand, but the Good Lord knows we ALL need this money.

I will chat and update as the days pass and hope to see a DDD 2/12 or sooner

DDD 2/5/2020 checked SBTPG site all day yesterday and it finally updated at around 7pm. Fees taken out and correct amount was said to have been sent 2/7/2020. I am unable to see the account and routing number on SBTPG site as I can only access it on my phone, logging in from a laptop only brings an error message when you click taxpayer login. Double checked my DD info on my tax form and it’s listed correctly. No pending transaction at my bank at this time.

Mine shows sent today and shows ach deposit with my bank info but I haven’t received it yet. I have Grow Financial which is a local credit union so I’m hoping it will process overnight and hit my account tomorrow. This is a new account and I haven’t had a direct deposit with it yet so I’m not sure how quickly my credit union processes ach direct deposits…here’s hoping for tomorrow. Will update when it hits. If you are using a cell phone then you need to switch it to desktop site and you will see it. Before I did that it wasnt showing the bank info in the Mobil version.

Heres what i found out just by looking at my transcripts from irs..
My cycle date is 2020050(5) which means your on cycke 5 batch. 01- fri 02- mon. 03- tue , 04- wed., 05 – thurs meaning that didn’t start processing it til the 5th… Even though they sent it out. Beside my cycle date is is 02-17-2020
Which means some wont recieve their refunds until the are eailer date feb 10.2020 so i hope this helped.

Another update.l:

I received a call back from, another manager type employee Antonio (234) was responding to my initial request for follow up with a concern I made yesterday:

He echoed the same things Angela did from this morning, with just a bit more detail. This is 100% a software error on their side. Their was a large batch of refunds sent out in 2/5 (basically everyone in this thread and then some) who for whatever reason, their software did not process when it was originally received by the irs. He confirmed with me though that this is not a “ok clock out at 5 and we will keep working on it tomorrow issue” that they won’t be stopping working on it until it’s resolved. They are hoping to have everyone their returns by the 2/10 deadline that the IRS gives on WMR before you are supposed to contact your bank, or atleast sent to your bank by then.

However in the same breath, their IT department who is working on it, isn’t giving them any kind of eta. He said it could be fixed in 10mins or fixed tomorrow afternoon. He did say to keep checking the website as it will update as soon as the issue is resolved as it is all one issue.

Posting this again so people can see how to get through the automated system to a real person…

When you call the main number – press option 4 – it will ask for an EIN just put your social in and just hit 1 to confirm it. It will say it’s an invalid EIN, press option 2 that you have filed through them in 2019 – that immediately gets you a person. When you get that person ask them to transfer you to the Consumer Tax group, they stay on the line until that group answers. I was literally able to get all those people in less then 5 minutes so it’s the path to take on the automated line..

Okay big update time! I just got off the phone with Angela, a supervisor with SBTPG. She was extremely, nice, understanding and helpful. What she told me is, now that they have a Trend Of TONS of people with the same issue, She went to her bosses and they are all, her included, extremely confident that, they do have the money sitting in these accounts, the issue is a technical one on THEIR end that has been escalated to top priority as of a meeting she had just been in.

So what she is saying is, at their level of just seeing returns and processing them, their is a current glitch that is affecting a ton of people to not reflect the balance from the account theIr money was sent to by the irs(green dot bank).

So basically our money is probably sitting there, but their software that the base level employees use to do the grunt work to process the returns are not seeing it for whatever technical reason and that is starting to be worked on ASAP.

Good luck everyone. If you call and end up talking to Angela, as she has spoken to a lot of people with this issue, please be kind as she was the first one

Oh ok. Welk I feel a little better then about turbotax not updating I guess. In the past it has updated for me but if you guys have had that happen to you then I guess it’s nothing to worry about.

So I just got off the phone with turbotax and she says it can take up to 48 hours to process once they received it. She told me to wait until tomorrow and if doesn’t hit my account tomorrow then I should call back and then they can look into it further but that I have to wait the 48 hours. She says she thinks it would be in my account by tomorrow but possibly Monday since saturday technically isn’t a business day. Idk I am doubtful it will be there tomorrow now. I am just worries why turbotax hasn’t updated to reflect what the IRS is telling me.

TurboTax never updates properly after it’s accepted, I have never seen it saying Approved in the 10+ years I have used them. They don’t get communications from the IRS after “acceptance”.

Just made my 3rd call to SBTPG, I had 2 supervisors and an agent on the line because this is getting ridiculous. They “said” to me that they are aware of the 2/5 DDD issue and it’s escalated to the highest tiers in their company. It was saying they didn’t get the money on website. Supervisor had confirmation that they got the money and is getting higher ups involved – she is aware that there is a lot of us in this mess. Was unable to give me reason but calling it a glitch. I gave her my phone number and took her name and ID number so I have a person to follow up with moving forward. I just got off the phone with SBTPG, the supervisor was “not available” so the run around I got was, since my personal return was on the larger side, there is a chance it is being held and reviewed by green dots processing department for security and identity confirming purposes. Allegedly a supervisor is going to call me back after I mentioned I had the account number. The gentleman did say if it is being held and reviewed by green dot that, it should be released by Monday. Although he was not 100% on any of it.

After emailing SBTPG this morning for the 2nd time, they said they see a pending but have not received it from the IRS? What sense does that make??

Just got off the phone with the irs one last time. Getting locked and ready to go at SBTGP, my irs agent confirmed to me that she has had MULTIPLE people today alone with a DDD of 2/5 who used turbo tax who have not gotten their return and are being stonewalled by SBTGP.

Today the agent gave me not only the routing number but the FULL account number as to where my return was sent.

Calling them now, but I highly suggest everyone get the routing and account number to have all evidence ready to go.

So the latest and greatest with me is that SBTGP told me they need a “refund trace” number from the IRS in order to investigate any further. I called the IRS back and they tell me in order to get such a number I have to initiate a refund trace FIVE days after the DDD, which would make it 2/10 (Monday)…the kicker is that the refund “trace” could take up to 90 DAYS!! So I’m feeling really hopeless here. Have no clue who or what to call anymore.

No most people with DDD of 2/5 got it on time and some even got it a day early on 2/4. We’re the group who are being played with by sbtpg for some reason. I keep asking sbtpg why others got their refunds on time and why we haven’t and they refuse to answer me. I even told them the IRS already deposited our money in their accounts on 2/5 according to the IRS but sbtpg is ignoring me and refuses to communicate with me.

sk: If I recall correctly, you were all DDD of 2/5 and some of you when checking sbtpg saw the date of 2/4 as the date sbtpg received your money. Then you started seeing your routing numbers showing up.

One of the perks for using it is that it states specifically:
“As fast as e-filing
Tax refund is available the same day the IRS issues the automated payment”

So the refund is sent to SBTPG FIRST. Then it’s their responsibility to get it to the taxpayer.
i’m sure that is why thousands of americans used their services… instead of another service.

So because I’m a third shift person and was keeping an eye on the IRS WMR, because I was waiting for the paragraph they give saying $$$$ will be sent on 02/05 to change to “ $$$ was sent to your bank on 02/05” that happened between 4-6am CT this morning. So in all honesty the IRS sent everything 02/06. Well our group was sent then. IRS software breaks us up in very weird and always changing groups hence the reason they give themselves 5days to complete the 02/05 batch. They just use our banks as an excuse. Most banks don’t keep their customers money In limbo.

Edit: lol this is not an ad for Robinhood. Just how they work!

I found out that Robinhood (the free stock buying app) actually is able to be free because it invests people’s money during the 3-5 day “transfer-in/holding period”. Robinhood is transparent about it.

I also know this is how banks work too, research fractional reserve banking. They only need to have 10% of their assets available in cash at any given moment, which is why you have limits to how much you can withdrawal because the bank never has that much money on hand anymore. They use your money to loan out.

I am curious if this “Green dot” or this “SBTPG” company was planning to do the same thing…. overlap some very short term investing with the extra money/extra few days that they think we are stupid enough to overlook.

As I theorize, there is something going on with SBTPG as this delay is affecting too many of us at the same time for it to be something like offsets.

Thanks for the advice! I have no offsets and I think a fair amount of people have already confirmed they also don’t have offsets. The other issue is that this is affecting a whole lot of us. Tons of FB posts about it and even some people on the Turbo Tax community. If the treasury failed to send SBTPG our money that’s going to affect dozens if not more of us.

This happened to me in 2015, I recommend you contact treasury not the IRS to make sure they actually sent your refund, I had a DDD and showed refund issued on transcript, next day it never came or went to SBTPG. Contacted treasury they stated it was never sent and the IRS cancelled my refund because of a offset I had that they forgot to put on it.

Call treasury first

Then if you can check transcripts, your WMR will update to code 1121

Others were surmising the same thing about sbtpg holding the money for interest which is shady as heck so shame on them if that’s true. That’s why they charge us $40 in fees to process our refunds.

Also, I have a feeling their “escalations” are just to buy some time. That’s a well-known tactic in call centers and I should know, I used to work in them for over a decade.

Just got a call from a representative there. Telling me that it could take up to 48 hours, that if I don’t see the funds in my account tomorrow then I should be alarmed. He was very nice and informative. But did tell me they still do not have the funds. I plan to continue emailing them regardless until I see the money in my account.

Just an idea for those still in the boat: If you don’t see your money by end of business Monday, you may want to look into contact the IRS. We’re all small potatoes but if the IRS gets involved they will be able to actually do something about this bank. I’m hoping we’ll all get our money by Friday night and maybe even into Monday (at this rate) but just in case it gets more serious, remember we have the mighty IRS on our side.

I do recall seeing an article or something on the IRS site talking about what to do for missing refunds so that would be the first step.

I totally agree. Just wanted to put that out there to show they aren’t even adhering to their own policy of starting the disbursement when the IRS gives them the notification of a pending payment. If they had started the process, all of us would have seen something happen on our accounts and we certainly would have gotten our money with the others yesterday since that’s when the IRS is saying they sent the money.

Something is going on and it doesn’t smell right.

They own Green Dot but that’s still concerning since they’re not admitting to even having your money even though you have a routing number where it was deposited. Yeah I am also in the same boat of never doing my taxes this way again. For 10years+ I have ALWAYS every year, had whatever fees taken out of my return and have ALWAYS gotten my money on my DDD no issues. I even went so far as to pull my transcripts out for the pst 8 years, confirm the DDD and the cross referenced it with my bank statements and it ALWAYS posted on my DDD.

I agree. I’m not ever using SBTPG again. I’m kicking myself as I had the money available to pay the fee but I decided to just let them take it from my refund. Now I’ve learned my lesson. TT charged me the $40 to do/file my taxes (which is fine) but then SBTPG charged another $40 to process my refund by taking out the fees. So SBTPG got $40 from me and in return I get the run-around about my money and they haven’t even sent it to my bank yet even though my ddd was yesterday.

They will never get another dime out of me and I’ll tell everyone I know to avoid them at all costs. Just not worth it.

I just got off the phone with SBTPG, clearly they have no clue what is going on. IRS did indeed send my refund out yesterday, SBTPG website shows they have not received it. The guy I spoke with said well maybe the Treasury intercepted it, I personally talked to a nice lady at the Treasury and my account has NO offsets and they have nothing to intercept me for. I told the guy at SBTPG this and he said well there is nothing else I can do, he spoke to a supervisor and she gave him the same speech about the Treasury possibly intercepting it……. At this point I don’t even know who to talk to.. I have talked to all agencies at this point (IRS, Treasury, SBTPG)…

Keep in mind stbg bank in on pacfic time they open at 7am. Also if your using greendot they usally dont post deposits until 12pm until 5 pm. Tubo tax is under greendot bank.

Just got off the phone with SBTPG, sounds like a huge dumpster fire over there currently. The nice women I spoke with said there is a very good chance that if you’re still getting the notice on their website that they haven’t received your return from the IRS, that it may not ever update to reflect otherwise and you may just see it hit to bank with our their site ever updating. Place is a mess it seems.

8 years of TT always had my fee, when I had one, taken out of my deposit and ALWAYS had my DD on my day listed on WMR. This is a first for me and from now on I’ll just pay the fee upfront to avoid this mess.

Lucy, this is a first for me! All of the other years (been banking with the same bank and filing with TT every year) I was able to access my refund the morning of the DDD. This is the first time I’ve seen this happen this way. Others have noticed the same thing.

Not everyone is seeing it. I’m only getting the message that sbtpg still doesn’t have my refund from the IRS. I believe those that are seeing their account numbers are the ones where sbtpg has received their money from the IRS and are in the process of transferring it to their banks. My ddd is today, 2/5 and still nothing in my bank. Sbtpg shows sent today with ACH direct deposit and shows routing number and acct. number. I’ve always in the past got my refund on my ddd. Hopefully by tomorrow it will be in my bank.

Yep many of us are in the same position. WMR won’t update until you’ve already received your money most likely so don’t go by that. I’ve been refreshing my bank and sbtg over and over though. lol

SBTPG was late on transfers yesterday afternoon and missed bank cutoffs for this morning.

I have never had problems with TT or SBTPG for the past 8 years, until now.. My DDD was for today. Yet, the SBTPG says THEY still have not received my refund from the IRS… It’s almost 2pm ET… This is getting a little crazy after reading some of the other posts here. Now I have to wonder when THEY will receive it and then wonder how long it will take them to release it to my bank.

No more having fees taken out of my return going forward, enough of the middle man that’s for sure..

I don’t see anything. All I see is 02/05/2020, ACH Direct Deposit, amount to be paid and the note. That is it on desktop. Or is there a browser optimized for that? I use Chrome.

Same here, Robert. Many of us are in the same boat. It’s frustrating and definitely odd as this has never happened in previous years. I’ve always received my refund the morning of the DDD.

@ Lucy a lot of people are getting same message they are having issues don’t panic its a generic message keep checking for updates today.As far as WMR i usually get refund before it updates this will also update in a few days prob sat. as long as you have a deposit date i wouldn’t worry .

Just checked my sbtpg again (I’ve been checking every 20 mins or so. I now have the RTN and DAN info.

My projection is that they will maybe batch submit around 9 am or 12 pm (California time).

I filed 1/27. DDD of 2/5. TT with fees taken out. Santa Barbara Bank received my refund 2/4. Santa Barbara released my refund today 2/5. It is 7:50 am Central and nothing has hit my bank yet.

I checked sbtpg. I have the 2/5/20 dd, site is showing 2/5/20 paid to me, ACH direct deposit but doesn’t have any other info like SK was saying below. I asked TPG what was going on about the change in deposit dates. Here is their response.

Our records show that as of 02/05/2020 We disbursed your Refund via ACH Direct Deposit to the account information you provided on your tax return.

We apologize for any confusion, if the funds have not posted to your bank account in 1-2 business days, please check your records and make sure that the bank account information you provided is correct.

So I guess I will just chill out and wait until tomorrow or Friday.

This is interesting, I found this in the SBTG FAQ page:

“How does the Refund Transfer work?
Usually 1 to 2 days before a refund is scheduled to arrive, the IRS sends a pre-notification of the refund amount to TPG. The IRS does not deposit the money at this time, but it is only a notification that the refund is on its way. We set up the disbursement upon receiving that pre-notification so that the money reaches the taxpayer on the same day it would have if the money was deposited directly from the the IRS into the taxpayer’s bank account.”

So those of us with 2/5 as our ddd date should technically get it into our actual bank accounts today.

Just logged back into SBBT. Yesterday it was showing as sent to my bank 2/4. Now it’s showing sent to m y bank 2/5. SBBT is not on their game this year.

In past years, SBBT gets the funds the day before my DDD. My bank does not hold deposits, but posts real-time, so I’ve always gotten my DD the day that SBBT receives funds. This year has been different so far in that SBBT did get my refund the day before the DDD (yesterday, DDD today), but I have yet to see funds hit my account.

Even though I’m still waiting (21 days and counting) for approval and DDD, in the past I always got my deposit 2 days early. That is the policy of my credit union. As soon as they get electronic transfer of any direct deposit, they immediately release the funds. Check with your banking institution.
