I’m hoping it goes in tomorrow. My paychecks use to go in 2 days early. But it also makes a difference which Net spend card you have. I have the black one (money is in their early) I also have a pink one. Never early. Walmart cards are the same way.
Also it will never show you or tell you if anything is pending. Money goes in ALMOST right away. I get paid daily, now and my deposit gets sent to my card around noon and I have my money at 9:36pm..expect for Fridays. Then I gotta wait til Monday. -

@Bill
Man, you kinda remind me of the type of Dad I had.
Hope the aforementioned 17 year old appreciates the uniqueness of such a relationship the two of you must share, if you are indeed anything like my Dad was lol.
And I can tell that you are in at least one aspect. x) Amazingly similar!
PS: My best guess is that either in the first minutes shortly following midnight, or else same time, six hours later, we will start to see deposits dropping like panties on Spring Break.

I’m an accountnow, but its all rly the same thing…
Most opinions say that we’ll get ours tuesday morning, BUT no bank or credit union anywhere is required to release before the 22nd – some do, some don’t, and with metabank (greendot, accountnow, walmart cards, rapidpay, etc) its up in the air until somebody calls customer service tuesday. I agree with sara that the ACH / Federal Reserve holiday notice is solid and we **should** get our deposits tuesday morning [lord willing, and the don’t rise]…
I’ve found that 6:58am -7:02am tends to be the ACH update window on my card.
HOWEVER – the automated clearinghouse system legally cannot and will not allow any money move after 5pm friday on the west coast (PST) and banks cannot resume ACH based transactions until 7am on the east coast (EST) the next business day. Monday is a stupid bank holiday, and therefore not a business day according to the Federal Reserve and NACHA.
Amex/Bluebird/Serve (and anecdotally some other cards / credit unions) allowed the ACH to clear early because of time zone differences between the IRS transmitting the ACH transaction and the banks receiving the money.
In other words: IRS transmits at 4pm Eastern Time, Amex recieves it in realtime at 1pm Pacific time thus leaving them with 3 hours left to ‘cheat’ and commit transactions before the close of the federal reserve on the west coast as a customer courtesy.
Since the ACH was sent at 4pm and is coded for 4pm, and it is still before 5pm friday in local time on the reciever’s end, the ACH transaction was posted to the deposit accounts at 4pm on friday of anyone whose bank works this way.
Metabank is a much smaller company with fewer employees and far less computing power when compared to the behemoth that is AMEX. They are also operating solely out of the central time zone in Sioux Falls, SD cutting an entire 2 hours off the Fed’s 5pm ‘Business Day’ deadline compared to local time at SBTPG in Cali or Amex worldwide.
Basically, metabank simply didn’t have enough time to reconcile the transactions before ‘the rules’ kicked in. In our situation, 7am Tuesday is a best case scenario, but i feel pretty hopeful.
7am Thursday is worst case, but i can’t imagine that a card whose primary advertisement is to get you your Tax Refund three days faster would dare wait.
On a tangent: Not all of their customers are poor, some of us are willing to load a little extra cash-on-hand each month to these types of cards for the security of having an internet-only debit card that’s not tied to the primary bank accounts. It saves on the paranoia of traveling, amazoning, redditing, etc — also, you probably have kids, they’re going to need access to plastic money someday too, loading cash to the card allows you to see how it’s being spent and build good spending habits in the next generation without the $30 per transaction overdraft fees every time a 17 year old ‘forgets’ there’s no money on the card – when its out its out – no need to plan how to punish them for something that’s easily corrected by teaching the core concepts early in life.
That said, if it’s false advertising, i can sue, and very likely will! Certainly if it prevents some money-grubbing asshat up the banking food-chain from lying to people in order to make a cheap buck at the expense of the downtrodden. I know banking is a dirty business, but geez, it already costs an arm to use the atm, why say early if you can’t back it up?
That’s why i have hope.
Well, that and President Donald J. Trump.

Here’s whats weird….I have never used the current netspend card that I have, so there are no transactions…….If I call to check the balance it says 1 pending transaction and that you can get detailed pending transaction information online. Well, I can’t find ANYTHING on there for pending transactions……so I called customer service and she also tells me she didn’t see any pending transaction……I dunno something is weird somewhere lol….I’m figuring it will appear Tuesday.
