If you haven’t gotten the number yet, try calling the Treasury Dept:

I can’t find numbers to any other areas in the country. Just ask the operator you are inquiring about your federal tax refund to confirm that it has been mailed out.

So I was in the same boat , I filed and had the return sent to my fiance Walmart money card . It was attempted to be direct deposited on may,22,2015 , I called after finding out that it was rejected and sent back to the irs , called the irs on may 26, they explained that I would be mailed a paper check within 5 weeks , well I checked the site again and it stated that i needed to take action , so I called again the week of June 5th , I was told that I would receive a letter which I did on the 8th stating that my refund had been reduced for 2012 tax return and I should be receiving my refund in 2 to 3 weeks(I was fine with that ) !… so after the 8th I received another latter cp53a thats dated for June 22 ,2015 saying it would take 8-10 weeks … Im wondering will it really take that long I got my letters within a week of each other.. any advice would be good I see a lot about a TA , im wondering should I wait or find me a TA ??!!

WMR has not updated at all, no idea about transcripts since the IRS has now shut down online transcripts due to their inability to protect citizen’s information (they are reaching amazing and astounding levels of incompetence).
This is one institution that needs to be demolished and started over!

That’s great news. It looks like most of us who received the cp53a are finally getting checks. Hoping to see mine by Wednesday. I can’t wait to be done stalking the mailman. Lol. Nah I don’t think so. When I called it was the 10th week and the rep told me that the week before (which was May 5th), it was adjusted to be released and to give 2-4 weeks to process and mail out. If I didn’t get anything by the 5th to call them back.

I called Wednesday and they said the check had been mailed out, and yesterday I called the Treasury office in Philly (services the NYC area) that actually prints and cuts the check and mails it out. They also confirmed it was sent out (not just processed and cut but actually mailed out) on the 27th. Now I’m just waiting either today or tomorrow for it, since first class mail takes anywhere from 1-3 days.

WMR still says your refund has been received and is being processed. WMR is always late on updating itself, usually a few days behind. But I’m glad I got confirmation from the check disbursement center that it was in fact mailed out Wednesday. Keep calling, I read somewhere here (I think it was BartD from Bart’s thoughts) that the referral wasn’t really anything that it’s just something to get you off the phone.

Yeah its stupid. I followed the exact steps that the card issuer said to do to be added to the account.

Yeah that ID verify was just a separate issue with your bank. I’d be pissed at them if they never added me to the account correctly.

The IRS won’t direct deposit a second time. This time they’ll send a paper check to the address on file. If you called a week ago and a week ago is when they gave you the referral, give it 2-3 more weeks. I didn’t see movement until the middle of the 3rd week.

It was funny that you say that because I also received my State return (a whole 24 dollars at that) and my federal was rejected because something didn’t match on the account. Which begs the question, why are you going to accept my state return but reject my federal? But whatever, that’s no longer here nor there.

But I actually was on the account it was direct deposited to, had a card and everything. Essentially, yes. The 30 day referral is basically a notice to the dept. researching your account to expedite the release of your refund. They have 30 days to release your funds and send you a check or send you a notice explaining why they need to further research your account.

More times than not though, on the 3rd to 4th week of the referral people usually receive their refund. I’m coming up on my 4th week and it looks like paper checks are all mailed out this Friday. I would call the treasury this friday and see if a paper check was sent to you. If not, call the IRS back.

That’s great news! It’s about time! Were you able to see your transcripts at all when it updated? I just wanted to see if you had gotten the same cycle date as me and the 290 and 846 code as well so I can get a better idea of where @bjgc stands. For whatever reason we can’t access transcripts online anymore, it can only be mailed. I’m assuming that the release date for all the paper checks is Friday, when they all get mailed out. I think you can call the treasury Friday to make sure that a check was mailed out.

Yeah that should be a good sign – mine changed to that a day after my transcripts updated. Unfortunately you can’t get your transcripts online anymore, so all we have to go on is the WMR.

Hopefully yours will roll out Friday like mine is supposed to – had a cycle date of 20152002 which is this Friday before the transcripts became unavailable. Here’s to the light at the end of the tunnel!

Well well, my transcript just updated with the 290 code and the 846 code. Finally. The 290 code reads with a cycle date of 20152002 which I believe is the 28th of this month. Now just to sit and wait one more week. What an ordeal.

He put me on hold and wrote something up to send to the department that was “researching” my account and told me they have 30 days to respond and if I haven’t heard anything to call back after 30 days have gone by. Has anyone else gone through this scenario and have any info as to what I should expect to happen?

From what I understand you have to call a tax advocate and have either an eviction or a shut off notice. Could be wrong but that’s what I’ve heard. I know some people can get a ta after the ten weeks but not sure how that works.

Did your wmr change? Mine still says a delay blah blah blah but instead of the original amount it’s now saying the adjusted amount. Got a letter months ago about adjustment and it’s now showing. Still can’t see transcripts. Phone downloads it but says it can’t open. Hoping the adjustment showing on wmr is a good sign.

Also remember that the 10 weeks starts from the date of the letter.
Mine was dated 2/23, no movement yet. Been longer than the ten weeks.
The IRS will NOT give you an relevant information if you call before it has been ten weeks.

I’m not sure about codes as I can not view my transcripts but the refund is 8-10 weeks after the notice date. Some people receive their refund early and some are waiting after the ten weeks. I’ll be at 9 weeks on Monday and no indication at all that it’s coming soon. If you have a hardship you could get a ta to help get refund faster.

I’m writing because the irs had set my direct deposit date 4/23/2015 and the deposit was final on 4/28/2015 into my mother’s account. It was rejected on 4/28/2015, and the bank had sent it back to the irs the same day. The irs had received the check back on 4/29/2015, and on May 1,2015, I had received a reference # or code 1121. Four days later, I had gotten a cp53a letter dated 5/18/2015. I was wanting to know if you could help me with a few questions? I filed my taxes 3/10/2015 and the irs received them on 4/03/2015. What will be cycle code for this and the expected refund date?

Ah, hopefully it is. I’ll probably try calling back today to see if that’s what it is; if not, I’m going to ask to put one in. This is actually my tenth week, the last day of it as a matter of fact – all that information I got earlier in the week were the same from two different reps so hopefully it really was adjusted and I’ll see my refund soon. Both reps did say that it could take 2 weeks to reflect the adjustment so next week would be the second week.

This is ridiculous and another reason why the government should never be put in charge of handling our money (on top of the federal reserve, income tax being illegal, etc.) I’m wondering whether I should wait it out or get a TA because if I don’t receive anything by June 5 and I have to call back, all hell will break loose.

Well, still no change on transcript or WMR…been 10 weeks already and was told the adjustment was made last week for the release of my funds, but there’s no update to my transcripts or WMR to reflect that.

Are the 2-4 weeks the rep told me the time period for the referral? I’m just wondering because all I was told was that it was adjusted for release last week and now I just have to wait 2-4 weeks for the paper check and if i don’t receive anything by June 5 to call them back (which I’m sure would be so helpful).

Here’s to hoping it gets updated tonight and I have a set date for the funds to be released!

No. My WMR has not changed, and neither have transcripts.
Have you been keeping an eye on your transcripts? Those are more reliable than WMR by far.
The last code showing up on mine is 971 for Notice Issued, dated 2/23. Prior to that is the 841 code for the refund cancelled.
Also remember that the 10 weeks starts on the date of the notice, not the day you get it or the day your refund was cancelled.

I just today managed to actually speak to someone at the IRS and get the 30 day referral. But, I have zero confidence in anything those bastards say at this point.
Call as soon as your ten weeks are up if transcripts don’t update before then. Some have been lucky, and their scripts updated, many others seem to be still waiting like us.

If your letter is dated 3/2 like mine, then the 10th week is May 12th; this Tuesday. I have had zero luck getting any updates from IRS agents, only the usual “call back after 10 weeks, please give it the full 10 weeks.” I’m considering getting a tax advocate at this point.
Bank rejected DD on 2/10 (the only mistake I could have made) was because on my tax return my address is XXXX W 23Xst ST (for street, I know, double words) and the bank has my address as XXXX West 23Xst. Unbelievable it would take 10 weeks to research that.

No movement on IRS transcript at all, still has the 841 846 971 code. I was hoping to receive the check this week as I see others have had theirs mailed out already, but of course that’s asking for too much. Anyone else have any other information or advice?

Well ok guys….I thought i would give you an update since I’ve done a lot of research on this matter and there is not a lot out there. So quick recap DDD was Feb 11 bank rejected same day. Was told 4 weeks by irs agent.(yeah right) Received cp53a notice on Feb 27 dated march 2. So here we are….April 18 yesterday my transcripts finally changed to refund issued may 4. So I’m assuming i should be getting it sometime around then but who the he’ll knows at this point. Today my where’s my refund finally changed from your taxes have been delayed to “we have received your taxes and now it’s processing” which is kinda funny since they have had them for 3 months but anyway. I hate to say this i really do…..but it looks like there gonna take almost the whole ten weeks. It’s ridiculous. I did not use a tax advocate so who knows maybe that’s the way to go but just be prepared for the long haul. And don’t do what I did and stalk the mailman cause it only makes you more upset. Prepare for 10 and if your lucky you’ll get it in 7. Hope that helps…..a little

DDD Of Feb 11. Had my refund for a whole 15 min then was rejected. First was told by Irs 4 weeks. Then was told I would receive a letter in the mail. I was informed by the tax payer advocate that my money is just sitting there. So i dont know what they are doing. So i am no longer in contact with the irs. I am dealing solely with tax payer advocate. To get my funds expedited. I told them that its a hardship which is it. Everybody that has bills past due is a hardship. received my CP53A notice on 2/23. I spoke with IRS agent on 2/23 after notice. a helpful rep looked over my account and staged i was “lucky” I didn’t have TC570 – full-blown audit. he said what this means is that IRS is “researching my account” since there was a mismatch in name/SSN on DDD since i attempted to have my monies sent to my fiancé’s bank (dumb mistake, I know). as the letter stated, agent said it could take 8-10 weeks, blah blah blah. from my understanding (and after googling similar situations for hours), the IRS is researching yhe retuen to ensure that we are in fact the taxpayer and we are in fact tied to the name/SSN on return and are in fact owed the refund. my glimmer of hope is that I have not read anywhere in which someone had same situation as us and did NOT eventually receive their refund via paper check. depending on how backed up the IRS is – some received their paper check within 2-3 weeks after the notice was mailed. and some ppl stated that it actually took almost 10 full weeks before their checks were mailed. let’s keep eachc other updated and track our progress with each other. good luck to everyone!

i am still waiting but received my notice 2/26/15 dated for 3/2. My friends mom stated she called her tax guy and he said that you shouldnt have to wait 8 to 10 weeks. The check should be in the mail after receiving the notice. I will keep you posted once i receive mine.
