I received my CP05 letter yesterday which was dated March 9th. Prior to this I found out I was under a 60 day review. I got a tax advocate in which my initial phone appointment with her was last Tuesday March 3rd. She requested that I send in proof of income which included my wages and tax withheld from all of 2019. I never received a call back from her despite her saying she would call me first thing Wednesday morning, March 4th. I called today and was told that the hold was lifted on my return and I should receive it in 4-6 weeks. WTF? So I STILL have to wait 4-6 weeks to receive my money? What is the point in the tax advocate if I will still wait 60+ days. Has anyone dealt with this? Did it REALLY take 4-6 AFTER the hold was lifted?

@Osrael90 thats definitely not true. I got my tax advocate on February 27th and had my initial phone appointment with her on March 3rd. My 60 days arent even close to being up. Also, I was not required to fax in anything proving hardship. I simply told her about hardships and that was all. Call them and see what they tell you. Dont go by what other people say.

Faxing the 911 form will get you one quicker I’ve heard. I know calling my local TA didn’t do much at all. And you have to have a legit hardship or they won’t entertain you at all.

Go on irs.gov and print out a form 911 and fax it in to your local tax advocate office.

I got my cp05 letter yesterday and I asked the IRS agent if I should get a tax advocate and she said I wouldn’t qualify for a tax advocate until after the 60 days are up. (60 days from March 9th). So I can’t get a tax advocate until May 9th? Is this true or they just saying that so I won’t get one.
