I feel like there is some underlying reason for Path. Isn’t it ironic how they have manipulated the law to force everyone pretty much to wait for their refund. Then a mass release of funds to flood the economy. Will this in turn affect the stock market with everyone spending money at the same time? 🤔

@Jactax, They can, I know it can be made somewhat simpler. Someone loves a power trip. Kidding, haha!

Sooooooooo, they can’t do a simple check that it’s you by providing a “Verification” link within the email that they send you to tell that you’ve been accepted??? Yeah…Ok. 😜👍

I “tweaked” mine to have more withheld. I don’t mind, I’m getting it back. And I do love a nice fat check at once!

@fawn this is true, but less relevant for people claiming credits. For example someone who works a job making less than 40k salary with four children claimed, and a spouse who doesn’t work, even if they had the minimum taken from their paychecks would still receive back virtually all of their paid taxes and receive EIC and ACTC and end up with a refund 10k+. In this instance, exemptions could not lower the refund amount

You can tweak your w4, so that throughout the year you earn more. Which will help eliminate the Path waiting. The IRS did make a calculator to help estimate what would be owed or refunded.

@shane lmao I can relate… I always say, y’all can have my identity, I need a new one. But read the comments on that thread. Lots of people tried to file in the past only to find out someone already filed their ssn.

Idk if the holds are effective, and there’s a lot more going on than a simple hold, so idk. It does have something to do with the tax ID number system as well. I’m no expert

Lol, @Shane.. I appreciate The Act, really loath and loathe The Wait. My son and daughter’s cards were stolen, I am happy the thief will not ever be able to use them, again!

I agree there are good reasons for PATH but making people wait like this is uncalled for. There are other ways to prevent fraud. Its like I said before no one is trying to steal my identity I dont want it myself most of the time.

You should check out the thread I posted https://igotmyrefund.com/forums/topic/do-we-really-need-the-path-act/#post-4351497

There’s a lot of very good reasons for PATH. Number one reason for the delays is to prevent fraudulent returns which was a massive problem prior to 2015.
