After reading through a lot of posts here, I see a lot of speculation and needless worrying that wont help ANYONE get their refunds any quicker.

      Instead, read the following..

If you have a 570 code on your transcripts, it means one of three things that I’ve seen:

      1. You’re an early filler, and your employer hasnt sent one of your W2s, so they have to wait on them to send it before they can release your hold.

Instead of blaming the IRS, CALL YOUR EMPLOYER and ensure that they send your W2. Just because you filed the first moment you could doesnt mean your employer did. Yes, the IRS will eventually contact your employer, but do you really want to wait on their schedule? (A 60 day period that many of you talk about)

      2. Make sure that you correctly filed your return. If there are any errors, you’ll get put on a hold and will have to wait until the system arbitrarily decides to automatically correct your mistake, unless the error is too big to be self corrected, resulting in a letter being mailed out that explains what they will need from you.

      3. You claimed the EITC or ACTC. The IRS specifically stated on their website since January that people claiming these credits wouldnt see their returns until the first week of March, which a lot of people have started to receive.

I guarantee a lot of you havent ensured the first 2 criteria were met. Hope this helps someone.

I’m under wage review as well…I know my info is right it’s just they are missing a w2 on their end. I spoke to the employer in question and she refused to resubmit my earnings unless the IRS contacts her because it’ll throw her records off. Called my local ssa and they said I could bring my w2 in and they could open an investigation but it would take 4-6 weeks so I’m waiting regardless. Keep updating tho because it helps all of us in the same boat.

By the way, my post isn’t to scare you… I’m sure that your issue is not the same. But 570 can mean more than what Charlie claims in his op.

In my case, I’m under a wage review (according to the agent I spoke with). I know for a fact that my wages are correct & I don’t need the money now (although I do want it) so I will let it work itself out.

In addition, his transcripts are zero’d out & there are no codes after 570.

We can’t always play detective when there is an issue. Transcripts do not always tell us & WMR is not much help. If you need the money & can’t wait for the IRS to resolve it, on their time, I’d call every single day until I got a real answer.

This is why you don’t give up. Keep calling, no matter how annoying it is. My son-in-law received his 2018 tax return yesterday. The IRS never sent a letter, the only way he knew anything was because he’d call. Turns out, someone filed using his info on the other side of the country. He received his full return plus interest, but it took 11 months and 21 days.

I called again and they just told me I have to wait and not do nothing ..Probably ending up waiting until next year tax season to get my tax refund lol
I really give up and I’m not even going to check or do anything at this point.

I’m not sure anyone here could answer that question correctly as it pertains to your situation. I would call the taxpayer hotline to find out what exactly you need to do to clear up the 570 and get your refund. Good luck!😊

I just checked my account wages on ssa.gov and it doesn’t show my wages for my other job just the amount I made at one…. that’s ehy I have the 570 code… what am I suppose to do to report this ..
Sent out my w2 form and it looks like he never reported my wages because IRS doesn’t have it on file

It’s a shame to see this MANY people have tax issues 🥴 when the REAL issues are within the IRS itself. They have lazy unprofessional staff who are NO HELP and find our frustration amusing. What’s the point of calling them when they can’t even help and the fact that there’s even a forum for tax issues like this goes to show that they can’t do their jobs professionally or in a timely manner. Sht…. they can’t even catch Trumps fraud a$$

Actually, the IRS doesn’t *take* your money every pay period, but earners _voluntarily_ have their employers withhold a portion of their pay and *send* it to the IRS in order to prevent owing taxes by April.

And if earners *don’t* voluntarily withhold taxes, the IRS will provide vouchers for them to estimate payments four times over the year.

I wouldn’t say people are whining…they’re frustrated and this site is a good place to vent since so many other people are in the same boat. It’s nice to have that camaraderie and its nice to be able to compare your situation against others.

Sometimes certain codes are added by error. The irs has stated this many times. Just Google irs 570 glitch. Also this is a forum of people with tax issues looking for assistance .

Seriously 😂 I am soooo sick of people who already received their tax refund or got a “DDD” coming on here trying to tell everyone not to panic and to do this and that and make sure we’ve done our taxes correct 🙄 I’ve done all the steps above a couple weeks back. We have the right to come on here and all complain about the IRS taking their sweet a$$ time giving us our money but they ALWAYS make sure to take taxes out of our paycheck EVERY week 🙄 Let us whine in peace. Geeezzzzzz.
