It all depends on your particular tax situation. My husband claims 4 all year, we still get a decent refund because of EIC and Child Tax Credit for 2 children, we also pay for insurance which brings down our taxable income, we have student loan interest to claim, things like that. If this has been a trend for you though, you need to consider if you can wait for that extra refund at the end of the year if you change your withholding to 0. Some people need that extra little bit in their paycheck.

I claim zero all year to get more back in my refund. Claiming 2 will get you less back and the end of the year and more in your paycheck.

If you claim your children on your W-4, you will have less taxes taken from each paycheck and will receive less of a refund for that year. I personally do not claim my son on my W-4, have regular taxes taken out of my pay, and receive a decent refund.
