      Child support offset from the fathers income tax in 2015 was 8 thousand. It took 8 months from the letter approving the offset to the day I received it. The fathers 2016 income tax offset is 6 thousand. Approved letter to the father came on February 16, 2017. Father is single, one son, and no joint account. So what takes the offset so long? It took me calling everyday, going to CSE once a week emailing everyone from IRS to child support to get the 2015 income tax offset. Please tell me it’s not to take that long to get the 2016 and income tax offset.

            Hi, my ex did his taxes in early April. He is backed up on his child support. So he knew there was going to be an offset. He says he got his letter in early may. Well here we are in June and I havent recieved anything yet. He is not married so he didnt file a joint . What is the hold up here? Btw I’m in California.

              My son’s father has the tax offset as of March 1,2019. When and how do I get my back owed child support?

                By law they have to hold it for 6 months in case an injured spouse claim form is filed but i don’t see how that is possible since you said he’s single. They must’ve been holding it cause he filed with someone else.
