I had a babysitter for 3 of my kids. She is on social security disability. I want to try and claim the child care dependent credit. If I claim it will it affect her social sect disability? If it does I don’t want to claim it because I don’t want her to get in trouble. She was helping us out as much as we helped her out of course. She said I could claim it and I have all her info for it I just don’t want to if it affects her social security.

If she is on full disability she will need to file it possibly, but that is the only affect that may count on her if she is on SSI then it will alter her income if she didn’t report it and then yes she would owe taxes and money back to SSI. SSID RETIREMENT she doesn’t have to file a return unless show owes money .

I have the same situation and I believe my sitter said they had made a small deduction from her monthly payment. With being able to file taxes for income she made babysitting for me she basically got it back in a refund so it doesn’t bother her.

Whatever you claim to have paid your babysitter will have to claim as earnings. If they haven’t paid tax out of it, they will have to now.
