Had no update this morning can’t retrieve transcripts because it’s saying ”the information you entered doesn’t match our record” With a 9001 reference code. I filed 1/28 and accepted the same day. NEED some encouraging info because I have no idea what’s going on with my return.

“What IRS Code 9001 Really Means
The actual code tells you exactly what it means – you filed a tax return that had multiple Social Security numbers attached to it. Typically, this is a husband and wife, but it could also include children as well (you never know, adult dependents may be checking the status of the refund). When you file your tax return, you have to specify a primary taxpayer, and the spouse or children all are secondary.”

There is no way that this is correct. There was nobody on my tax return except for me. Only ONE social security number. I have checked multiple times to be sure I didn’t make any kind of mistakes.

9001 is a generic code. It doesn’t mean you for sure have to ID Verify, it doesn’t mean you entered the wrong social etc.

The IRS is telling people it’s a system glitch right now.

If you look at a lot of the posts from peeps that have received this 9001 code you will see that the info you provided above does not apply to them. A lot of them are single filers. Quite a few people on here have contacted the IRS directly due to this code and were told that it was just a glitch in the system.

Idk if it helps you feel better, but I had code 9001 since January 17, update last night to code 1541. Delay codes for Path.

If you login to Where’s My Refund or on the IRS App and try to use the secondary Social Security number, you’re going to get this error message.
