I filed and received a DDD of 2/13/2019. My transcripts show the 846 code with the refund amount that matches what it showed in Turbotax. But, my pending deposit from the IRS in my checking account is substantially less. We owe the state of MI for past years taxes. Could it be the amount owed to MI that’s making the difference? Wouldn’t the refund amount on my transcripts reflect any pmnts made to Individuals seeking garnishment from my return?

There is no 898 code on my transcript and I called TOPS and there is no outstanding offsets. I’m confused where the money went. I guess I’ll have to call and sit on hold forever to fi d out. What the heck. This is so weird!!

If your state refund won’t cover what you owe they will deduct from your federal return. They normally will take your state and deduct the remainder from your federal.

Oops, ment to include, yes, your state can and will take from federal, if your state reported it.

Do you have an 898 code on your transcript?
If you do, you will see the amount. But not who it is going to.
