Can returned get pulled for review after a ddd is given?

I have been searching for hours for someone in a similar situation and finally decided that this is unique. I need some help understanding what is going on. Here’ my info:

Filed and Accepted on 2/8 thru TT exile
WMR bars disappeared on 2/17 “We are still processing your return. A refund date will be provided when available.” No codes or topics.
Was able to order transcripts (both) for tax year 2015 on 2/22
Bars reappeared on 2/25, return approved DDD 3/2-3/7.
On 3/2 my refund was not deposited, WMR still says approved and the DDD of 3/2. Instead I get a CP05 notice in the mail saying my return is under review, no reason no action needed and not to contact the IRS until April 23rd with refund related questions.

Do they do that? Pull your return for review after it has already been approved and a refund date provided? Is it possible that the CP05 was sent out automatically while WMR bars were down? WMR still says my refund will be deposited today.

UPDATE: This morning I called the irs to see if I could get any information on what was going on. The guy confirmed that my refund was released for deposit on 3/2and the CP05 notice was generated when the WMR bars went missing in FEb. As of yet I still have no pending balance with my bank but I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I keep updating just in case someone else has this issue and comes looking for answers.

As of 12am est , WMR states that my refund was sent to my bank on 3/2. My bank has no record and nothing pending. I checked Abby but there is no account there because I did not pay any fees, free file. This is so frustrating. I have not had a simple refund since I was the victim of identity theft 5 years ago. I hope the person who started all of this crap is still sitting in prison.

@Christina I am having sort of the same problem but I haven’t received a letter. My ddd is today but nothing is in my account. Im hoping they don’t need to do further review. Why would they give out dates and say it is approved if they want to do further review. The irs is making sick this year. It already took forever to get approved. Not its my ddd and still no money in my bank nor sbtpg. I hope it’s nothing to worry about because I read a few other people didn’t get theirs yet so I have hope.

Hopefully everything works out for you. I would say try call the irs again to see if you can get a different person. Last year I had to go to the main office to get things settled out. That made them move faster than me not harassing them. lol Just ask if you need to prove your identity. Hopefully it’s nothing major but keep us posted.

Yes, it is possible. It happened to a lot of 2/10 DDD. You can look back through the 2/10 topics to see what happened to those filers.
