I got a call from the IRS and I called them back. I had to pay the typical fee with my Amazon card, and they told me my refund should be here today. Does this seem right? My dad told me I got scammed, but it sounded like the IRS.

Do you read the irs website? They will never contact you by phone or email. You just got got. Cancel that account immediately.

Yea you definitely got scammed….I would close out that account IMMEDIATELY, if you paid they now have access to your account to withdraw any monies and will be watching for your refund…IRS NEVER makes calls they communicate through certified mail

scam…the IRS will NEVER call you. They will either post a code on your account telling you to call THEM or send you a letter in the mail. THEY NEVER CALL.

I’m so sorry. But that was more than likely a scam, it’s horrible people have to worry about that…..you can always call the IRS using the phone number Google provides to confirm whether or not that money went to them.
Might want to report it so other people know, there might be a place on irs.gov that will let you report scams. Maybe not but worth a shot to see to help protect the next person. I hope they get caught 😡

Totally a scam. They do not call, they send letters and the only people who charge fees are the tax websites, if you choose to use the pay for version, and even then they ask you if you want to pay for the fee upfront when you submit your return or if you want it taken out of your refund.
