    So Confused

My NYS refund was offset for unemployment overpayment. Now my Fed return says it’s being adjusted for the same offset? How can they both be taking money for same thing, the NYS adjustment covered the full amount. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! 😭

That happened to me 2 years ago. I also live in NYS. Federal took $1125 and state took the same amount. I called federal to refund me for double dipping but they said “we sent what we took to NYS so they have to refund you”

Long story short I called NYS everyday about this. Took about 9 weeks but they sent me a check in the mail for $1125

Hound them everyday and take names!!!

You should get the difference mailed to you via check. They place a hold and whichever comes first will take the offset

When I called the offset number and press option 1 it states no offsets so I called back and press option 2 for consumer debt and I have a offset from unemployment overpayment. I called unemployment because they already took my state taxes. She said they placed an offset on both federal and state. Federal will take the whole amount then they will refund me the difference in 4 to 6 weeks.:(
