So this morning my bars disappeared and went to Your Tax Return is Still Being Processed. A refund Date will be Provided When Available and still have Topic 152.
I see that a lot of others have gotten this as well, so I am hopeful it is just the updating pattern this year.
I am wondering IF I am being audited or need more information, how long does it take to get to me? Do they mail out notices fairly quickly? I don’t have anything different this year, but want to be prepared. -

@shawnad: Get in line, we are all here suffering. I’m sure you will get one of those 4464c letters like many of us did. I filed/accepted 2/9. 3/19 processing date on transcripts w/ 570 code. received 4464c 3/15. Watch the video I posted in the 4464c letter thread. Your just supposed to sit back and wait unless you get a request to send it something.

I filed on 2/23. I had the bar for like 10 days but, then it disappeared. I called and said I had to call back 21 days after the file date. I called back 23 days later and was told everything was ok that I was randomly selected for quality control for their systems and that it would be spit back out in 8 days. I called 10 days later and was told I am now in Air-review and that though it doesn’t show I need to send anything as of yet that I will have to wait 6 weeks and still nothing then call back. This is Crazy, I just want to cry.

Filed 2/28, according to irs it was entered in the system 3/9…I checked wmr on 3/19 and all bars are gone just tax topic 152. Called irs on 3/20 for them to say I’m under review. Smh, hoping I somehow get refund before April.

I filled Feb/21/2018 and my bar like every one else disappeared a few days ago.
Today I eventually got hold of some one and he after asking a few questions regarding the source of my income and verifying the names and SS numbers for me and my husband, he said ” the computer randomly picked up our application for more review. The review will start on March 19/2018 and it’ll take 45 days and if you haven’t hear anything back from us than give us a call back”.So I think this means they are going to review everything. If there is a question than it’s better to resolve now instead of 5 years after.

Filed via TurboTax on 2/14
Accepted on 2/14
Had the “being processed message”
3/5 WMR updates to “still processing” with 152 and no bars. Transcript said “No Return Filed”
As of 3/9, WMR “still processing” but all transcripts available and DDD 3/14. -

Filed via TurboTax on 2/4 and was accepted on 2/4. I was getting the status bar for return accepted and after 10 days the status bar disappeared with a message that says your tax return is under currently being processed. After 3/1 called the IRS hotline and both times they could not find anything wrong but told me to wait. One would think at the IRS would have better answers other than wait.
On 3/5, contacted the TaxPayer Advocate Services only to be told they cannot find a reason for the hold up. Only to be told l have to 8 weeks before l can call back, meant April 1st. So at this point l’m now being told to wait, again, now for another month and l still don’t have an answer !
This alone is just frustrating because you wouldn’t know if there is an issue with my taxes or l’m being audited, you would have no idea since the IRS is not providing any at all.

Filed 2/8 said accepted! My bars disappeared 2 weeks ago. Called and the guy told me that my taxes were actually not accepted until 2/12, but WMR said they were accepted when I checked on 2/9. Called back today like the guy said and was told that mine were under review that my refund is on hold! Said reviews will not begin till 3/19 and that I have a 45 day wait from 3/19 before I can call back. Said my refund could be let go before the 45 day review limit! I was told that if you lose your bars for more than 3 days and it is after your 21 days to call! The bars leaving means they cannot guarantee your refund limit of 21 days!

I filed on 2/6/18 and was accepted same day. As of 2/25 WMF bar disappeared. If refund was Incorrect I read that they would adjust and issue refund is that correct ? If I am under review what should I expect as far as time line ?

Filed 1/30, return was received on 1/30. On 2/16, my bars disappeared. Called them today 2/23, said I was under review. Could take up to 45 days. Yeah it’s not like I have rent to pay or anything. With three kids, I never depend on this time of year. 🙄 Why do they do this to people with children? We shouldn’t have to wait like this 😖

Filed and accepted 2-6. Status bars went away 2-8 and said just processing, will give date when available, tax topic 152 etc etc… checked every day and today 2-17 the refund Approved and bars reappeared with a DD date of 2-22. Hope this helps everyone.
We did get a letter from IL DOR asking us to prove some things on the return but the IRS sent us along no problem
My first year filing married joint as well -

Great News about the processing message. I paper filed on 1-30. Been checking WMR daily. On 2-14 I got the 1 bar accepted. Checked on 2-15 and there were no bars with the processing message and i was like oh no. Was going to check it again on 2-16 but I got a text this afternoon that my refund was direct deposited so I checked and the money was there. So I went from accepted to deposited in 1 day. I did not have PATH or any special credits.

I pulled my transcripts online and it is blank but it says Processing date 2/19/2018. My bars are gone and mine just says it is being processed with tax code 152. I CALLED the irs he couldnt give me info until 21 days and that date is the 19th. As of now no letters have gone out. so i guess its a waiting game

Ok, I called and was able to speak with someone. I filled 1/22 and my bars went missing 1/27 and have been since. Called (800) 829-0582 ext. 652 and was put right through to a person. Said I received code 1542 (that was a lie). She reviewed my account.
Said I was selected for further review and that I should receive a letter or update on WMR by 2/19. I am currently in Chapter 13 bankruptcy and she did mention that it usually goes to that department before the refund is released, so I’m hoping THAT’S the only further review she is referring to. I’m stressing ya’ll!

I filed 2/20..rejected 2/21 because I honestly didn’t feel like looking for my correct AGI and had to resubmit 2/22
Accepted 2/24
Had one bar along with Tax topic 152 up until ten minutes ago.Now I just see the “your refund is still being processed. A date will be posted when available blah blah blah”
And now I have no bars.
What the hell is going on?

@Jordana where’s my refund is unavailable on sunday’s From 12am-7pm so there’s no way your boyfriend’s status changed today. It may have changed yesterday. Or if it changed today he may just be locked out for checking to many times.

My boyfriend filed on 1/25/18 and today it updated with no bars and says still processing with no available date yet it’s weird he claimed our daughter and me. I’m hoping it isn’t going to be an issue because we are using our mine for moving expenses so I’m very worried. But his did the no bar thing today on 02/11/18

I filed my return on 01/29.
Rejected 01/30. I corrected the problem same day and refiled(efile).
Return accepted 02/02.
I owe money buy will still be due a refund so i called 02/08. They told me not to worry that the money will be taken from the refund and that i wouldn’t even notice because it will not cause delay and that thevrefund is processing.
02/09 I check wmr and it says this:According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue refunds before mid-February for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits.
Check Where’s My Refund in mid- to late February for your personalized refund status. It’s updated once a day and remains the best way to check the status of your refund.02/10 it still says the same thing. However, my refund amount and personal info still appears.

Just speaking from my own experience this year and last year I lost my bars and I woke up this morning to a ddd of 2/14. So losing your bars doesn’t necessarily mean something bad.
-
February 10, 2018 at 7:36 am #4212245
@Kristi, mine updated to that this morning. Personally, I’m guessing that they’ve been approved, and they aren’t going to flat out say it until after roughly the 14th which would be mid February.

Lost my bars last year too. Went from 1 bar, to path message, to no bars. Once PATH wait was over I went to a take action message. Turns out I was pulled for ID verify. Went from submitting return 29 January to receiving return mid-March.

I asked my mother-in-law who, works at *** about this again tonight and this is what she stated: 99% of the reasons……{1} At the time you file your return, your employer may had not submitted their copy of your w-2….(2),,,doing the year you may have had reported your id lost or stolen…{3} You made have information on your tax return that need corrected such as a misspelled name, forgotten number, etc……{4} self employment claim. She stated that all but self employment claim is no problem and you should see and update to 2 bars without the Path !

I just watched this on youTube. If your bars disappear their is definitely something going on & IRS will either notify you or if it’s something they can verify without notifying you they will fix it then your bars will reappear but search this topic on YouTube.

Had thia happen to me for tax year ending for 2015. Turned out I had to wait until after the 21 days I’d failed my tax return and the date it was accepted to call and speak to a representative in order for them to ID verify me. I claimed my 2 children that year and my child’s father claimed one of them as well which delayed my tax return until the middle of May! They make you wait for awhile unless you have a tax representative send over proof of you needing help for housing expenses, bills, etc.. I’m pretty sure getting this message means something is wrong with your return and you will NOT see an update until they find the problem and correct it. Good luck!

The same thing is happening to me, I was accepted by the IRS on the 2/2 and today I checked it 2/6 and the bars on WMR disappeared and so did my refund amount… I get they have to do certain things with our returns but; this is frustrating and i don’t think it’s ok that we get such vague messages… Someone help? Lol.

My mother-in- law works for ***. For job security reason, i wont got into full depts. . The computer process returns on a cross matching systems ( W-2…LAST YEAR RETURNS…ADRESSS…DEPENDENTS….ECT..) If your return is unable to be process by computer due to changes for last return, then it will be did manually . In most cases, it warrant an ID VERIF. also, self employment credits will warrant that message! Im not an tax expert, just passing among what she said over the dinner table.

This happened to me last year. It was for ID verification. Had to wait the 21 days to call and find out because they won’t tell you anything before that. The rep sent out the letter when I was on the phone with her it took 10 days to get it. I then had to call the number listed on the paper and make an appointment to go in and verify. I filed 1/23 last year and didn’t get my refund until mid March. Some people can verify over the phone it just depends on whether or not there is enough info on your credit report that they can ask you questions. Hope this helps!

I had same thing happen. I called the irs and supposedly those of us w/EITC will be subject to this message until 2/15 because of the new law. The agent was very broad w her explanation and said the irs won’t look into my situation further until after 2/15 because I have EITC. sounded like BS to me so we’ll c….

According to the IRS, the agency attempts to audit tax returns as soon as possible after they are filed
-
February 5, 2018 at 5:12 pm #4206434Bagel
Bars wouldn’t disappear if you’re being audited, that’s a completely separate process/department and happens further along in the year actually. Your refund wouldn’t be affected by that.
Take this as good news lol
