So I checked my refund, and the bars disappeared and there was a paragraph saying to check back after Feb 15th for your personalized status.
So they are cracking down indeed.

So does being able to order your transcripts mean anything?

I filed and was accepted on Jan 30th my bars disappeared on Feb 2nd with the Path Act message but I was able to order my return transcripts on Feb 6th . I had to do id verify thing last year and it took forever to get my refund I just hope I do not have to do it again

so…
this is what I have gathered…
I did my taxes and was accepted 23rd of Jan
both federal and state of WIsat on one bar with tax topic 152
claimed only ACTC
today (4th of Feb) updated to check back on the 15th…also was able to order both return and account transcripts. (never checked that before reading about it)
but I am estimating that mine is done and just waiting for a direct deposit date after the 15th…
if it sits on one bar and then disappears with the “still processing” garble, then it is an ID verify or review where they are asking info…
if it sits on one bar then disappears and goes to the path act message, it means you are awaiting a date of direct deposit.
am I understanding it correctly?
also if you can order your refund transcripts, it means that year is done….?

@WillBeas Then I misread your message, I seen family of 4 and wife and took it as 4 children and wife, then of course yourself making 6. I skimmed instead of thoroughly reading. My apologies. Unfortunately, we do not qualify food stamps either. However, a person who does have a family of 6 at that income would. And trust me, qualifying for FS (if you could) is definitely not a good enough reason to move to SC! EVERYTHING IS SO FAR BEHIND HERE. Technology, schools, modern day policies are not in play here, we still work with laws from the dang 1800’s! I didn’t, and still don’t, have an attitude. I’m sorry if you took that way. And no, indulging in drama is not on my list of things to do. Maybe a good wine or a nice quarter though! ;)

I have 2 dependents and I filled hoh as well. $48393 and I had to pay taxes last year..period point blank. I make damn good money though. If you can get food stamps with making damn near 50k a yr, I need to move to your State because my family could definitely utilize at times. I’m The most drama free person you probably would ever know but based on your instant attitude I’m sure you would prefer to endulge in drama

@WillBeas — I dont see how I’m getting folks anxious by stating our situations just like everyone else has done here. What is here for me to earn by giving incorrect information? Makes no sense. I’m sorry that you made 48K and still had to pay taxes, not everybody’s works out the same, especially when itemized deductions and filing status’ and tax brackets are different for everyone. Do you not allow your employer to take taxes out of your paycheck? That is low income (like Foodstamps eligible low) for a family of 6. I think your taxes we not done properly, but that’s my opinion and you have yours. I grossed $49,855 alone and have 3 children, filing single, HOH and still get $7,700 back, combined FED and SC. So for you to earn less, be married and have one additional child to claim and still pay taxes? Something doesn’t add up. I would get a new accountant to do your taxes if I were you. Nevertheless, people like you are why I usually just troll. Because there is always someone out there that you have PROVE crap to or that believes only their own personal experiences. Or just flat out like drama. Its ridiculous.
Moving On — As an FYI to the rest of you “anxious folks” it was the Child Tax Credit that he claimed for his 1 child. It was reduced, marginally, by $150 due to his income. In the end he received his $3300 refund yesterday! And I’m still with the PATH message and no DDD. Oh well, it’ll get here when it gets here I guess. Good Luck and Happy Tax Season Y’all!!

@willbeas No kidding huh lol. I am just like “whatever” at this point. Whatever happens happens…not sure there is a method to the madness.

@lauren
I’m confused at this point Lauren because she just told me the exact opposite on early filers -
February 2, 2017 at 11:51 am #4157091
@johnnyblaze
Just called her bro, she told me I misunderstood her. She stated only early filers. Its to check for false wages and withholdings. These are her words, she has only been with the IRS for a yr but she says she knows her stuff. Glad I waited till today to file -
February 2, 2017 at 11:50 am #4157087Lauren
@Willbeas there is a thread I just responded to where people with EIC and ACTC have the refund pending in their account already. they filed pretty early though.
-
February 2, 2017 at 11:38 am #4157068
@willbeas did they speak to how the PATH ACT actually works? Like I understand it is to crack down on fraud but how so?
-
February 2, 2017 at 11:32 am #4157065
I have several relatives whom work for IRS in different aspects. They all are telling me this 02/15 is set in stone. So I’m confused at folks with EIC or the other credit that’s rec’d a DDD.
@notsopatient, please stop getting folks anxious. I made 48k last year and had to pay back taxes and I had a family of 4 and my wife was stay at home, sooooooo 70k+ I doubt if there is any credit that could possibly get dude any type of refund.
-
February 2, 2017 at 9:47 am #4156985gRACE
It is most likely still being verified and processed. I don’t understand how hard it was to ask us to upload birth certificates if fraud is what they are cracking down. It is the most inefficient way to do this crap when majority of us is relying on this fund to support our babies…and pay for the damn $900 monthly daycare expenses. This is my first year because I just had a baby and I am getting screwed. My coworker who has claimed Child Care tax credit in the previous years said he’s already gotten an approved status. Not sure if that’s true…

February 2, 2017 at 3:19 am #4156853Karen
Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available? What does this mean when the I was accepted on 1/23 and the bar was there on WMR until tuesday morning 1/31 and then this message above appeared and the bars are completely gone. I’ve read this has happened to some people this year but they are getting the message due to the new law please check back after February 15? I am not however and yes I did claim actc and eic credits. Does this mean something is wrong or I’m being audited ? It’s been this way for 3 days now and no letters from the IRS ? Anyone please help I’m worried
-
February 2, 2017 at 2:26 am #4156841Karen
I filed and was accepted 1/23 had one bar (accepted ) from 1/24 until Tuesday 1/31. Now bars disappeared and I’m getting the message filed both credits . Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available??? A little worried I’m not getting the pat message or check back February 15 for a personised deposit date? Does this mean I am being audited or something is wrong with them?
-
February 1, 2017 at 4:26 pm #4156618Matt
Filed 1/16
Accepted 1/17
WMR: 1 bar but went missing ever since 1/23
Single, no EIC or CTC.
Cannot log-in to see if transcripts are available.Called IRS, keeps repeating, “must wait 21 days”. smh.
Some people say means pulled for review, some say, glitch in system, some say just still processing. But who knows?
WRM: No bars, says, “your return is still processing etc”.
-
February 1, 2017 at 9:42 am #4156354lezlie
my tax provider said some people who file earned income credit did get their refund early because the IRS ran some early to see if they system worked properly
-
February 1, 2017 at 9:34 am #4156346Joshy

February 1, 2017 at 1:22 am #4156201Kat
Yeah, 75k is definitely outside of EITC/ACTC range.
-
February 1, 2017 at 1:17 am #4156196Lexi
@notsopatient
I don’t think he qualifies for the EIC in my opinion. He makes too much money. Everyone I have seen getting deposits by Feb 1st didn’t have the two credits
-
January 31, 2017 at 10:18 pm #4156131
so according to the Irs Website they will start releasing some on the 15th but may not see a change on wmr untill a few days later.
-
January 31, 2017 at 10:16 pm #4156128cheryl e kendrick
Under this change, required by the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS must hold the entire refund — even the portion not associated with the EITC and ACTC. This change helps ensure that taxpayers get the refund they are owed by giving the IRS more time to help detect and prevent fraud. Taxpayers should file as usual, and tax return preparers should submit returns as they normally do. Beginning a few days after Feb. 15, affected taxpayers can check the status of their refund by visiting IRS.gov/Refunds and clicking on Where’s My Refund? Or using the IRS2Go mobile app.
-
January 31, 2017 at 9:14 pm #4156092mhaynes215
I checked on my refund yesterday and bars and tax topic had disappeared. Just said my refund was still processing and when there’s an issue date it will show up.
Because there’s not a tax topic, is that bad? I called and without even asking for my ss# they said if there was an issue I would know. Would it appear on the WMR site or would I just get a letter? Can I just call and verify?? This is never happened before! -
January 31, 2017 at 4:45 pm #4155966Not So Patient
@johnnyblaze I’m honestly not sure. He has one child and makes decent (75K) money plus has two rental properties for additional income if that helps determine which credit he received.
-
January 31, 2017 at 4:45 pm #4155964KELLY
@notsopatient–
yes im curious too, did he file both child credits?? Im hoping for a miracle tomorrow morning
-
January 31, 2017 at 4:28 pm #4155952
@notsopatient Did he claim CTC or ACTC? CTC isn’t affected by PATH act
-
January 31, 2017 at 4:20 pm #4155946Not So Patient
I filed on 1/5, accepted on 1/12. Had the same 1 orange bar then the PATH message about the 15th showed up a few days ago. I have all of my transcripts. Claiming both child credits. My transcript shows processing date 2/13/17, cycle 20170405. I looked at last years transcripts, last year it stated my processing date was 2/22/16, cycle 20160505. I received my refund last year on 2/10. 12 days before the processing date. My fiance filed and accepted 1/20. He doesn’t check transcripts or WMR, hes just patient and waits. He claimed the child credit also, last night his account was showing it pending for deposit on 2/1 into his credit union bank account. NO BULLSHIT! I’m with BBT, they never post anything early and I don’t have anything pending. So we looked at his transcripts from 2016, he also had a processing date of 2/22 and received on 2/10, this years showed process date 2/13 but now pending for deposit 2/1, again 12 days difference. Maybe there is something to the 12 days thing. I haven’t had anyone else’s to compare this to, but maybe its worth a look for some of y’all too. As for my SC state taxes, accepted but no movement. Even the state website says they do not have refund in process at this time. But given SC’s backwoods ways, I never get an update on their website until AFTER I’ve received my state refund.

January 31, 2017 at 12:51 pm #4155846Mommaof5
How long does the PATH message stays up on where’s my refund before you get a DDD?
-
January 31, 2017 at 12:51 pm #4155844
So does that mean that on the 15th we get our deposit? I now have no bars and the PATH comment on mine as well stating check back on the 15th.
-
January 30, 2017 at 10:54 pm #4155491Jack
I got the Path Act message but was able to request my transcripts. So does that mean on the 15th I will be good?
-
January 30, 2017 at 10:44 pm #4155489Laura
@erin
Starting this year we (employers) have to have our W2s sent to the IRS by Jan 31st. Not April like in the past. The moved up the deadline for the purpose of being able to cross reference the W2s we submit to what the taxpayer filed.
So they can crackdown on fraud. -
January 30, 2017 at 9:23 pm #4155458Candy30
I did mine on Jan. 9th the next day the first bar was there. I haven’t check since then into tonight and now I have no bars and the massage to check back after the 15th of Feb. Is this a bad thing ugh growing aggregated.

By law, employees must receive W2s by January 31st, so I doubt many employers are waiting that long.
-
January 30, 2017 at 1:55 pm #4155272Erin
For some of you that are saying they are waiting to cross reference W2’s…..some companies don’t even supply W2’s for employees to the IRS until late March, so there is no cross referencing of W2’s. I filed on the 23rd and up till yesterday I had one bar and Tax Topic. Now everything is gone. I have filed the same damn way for the last 20 years. Last year same thing happened and I had to verify identity…ended up getting refund months late. They won’t even talk to you until 21 days have elapsed since you filed. Last year I had a 9001 error, but this year nothing. I have no idea what to think. I don’t know if I should just call and verify again or what but it really sucks knowing that my situation has not change….my address…my job….my filing status all the same since i can remember, and they chose last year and this year to mess with me.
-
January 28, 2017 at 11:59 pm #4154425ktie
@ shannon is this true with people who got this message means they are done and they have accepted the funds just have to wait til the middle of february? I just ordered my transcripts from the irs so does this mean im all done and just patiently wait??
-
January 28, 2017 at 11:04 pm #4154413Gracie
Yeah. I got the same message too. No bar. I freaked out too but what else can you do? These people don’t give a rat’s A55 about people who need this money to pay for the outrageous daycare expenses for their newborn so they can go back to work when the 4C denies free daycare because I make too much money and yet daycare for a month for my one child costs 60-70% of my entire month’s pay. SMH. I think these lawmakers are just POS. Sorry.

Filed Jan 23rs accepted within minutes same day…claiming eitc an ATC…updated to the PATH MSG!!…REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE (IRS)….THEY CAN DO BETTER AN IF THEY ENFORCING ALL NEW CHANGES TO THERE COMPUTERS…(EVIDIDENTLY FOR ME TO PROCESSED IN 5 DAYS)…STILL DNT UNDERSTAND THEIR ANTICIPATION… I NEED MY MONEY
-
January 28, 2017 at 2:29 pm #4154240cheryl kendrick
Per what it says on the message no it will not move to two bars until after the 15th.
Where’s My Refund on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go mobile app remains the best way to check the status of a refund. Where’s My Refund will be updated with projected deposit dates for early EITC and ACTC refund filers a few days after Feb. 15. Taxpayers will not see a refund date on Where’s My Refund or through their software packages until then. The IRS, tax preparers and tax software will not have additional information on refund dates, so taxpayers should not contact or call them about refunds before the end of February.
-
January 28, 2017 at 12:18 pm #4154185Ellabella92
Last night during the update when most our status changed on WMR, there was a woman who had both credits and A DDD of 2/1. She copy and pasted to show it was real. As for me personally, I believe us with PATH message are not approved yet. They are waiting to cross reference our W2s before the funds officially approve or release after the 15th. FYI, I ordered both transcripts and have both credits.
-
January 28, 2017 at 11:09 am #4154154Aaron s
Nik.. it’s against federal law for them to release EITC OR ACTC returns prior to February 15th. It’s is not a guideline. It’s a law passed by Congress and signed by Obama in 2015. I think you either are confused as to how you filed or aren’t being honest.
-
January 28, 2017 at 10:12 am #4154122Jennifer Echols
@Nik, the PATH Act is a LAW not a guideline, and it is definitely being enforced on everyone.. You ain’t got to lie Craig…
-

Yep, my bar disappeared, ordered transcripts yesterday. So they’re done, we just have to wait two more weeks y’all…

Oh yea and I can order both transcripts under my new address….yaaaaaay. that’s good news!!!
-
January 28, 2017 at 9:23 am #4154084Tble
Mine says the same. I had one bar up until this morning and now I have no bars just the message to check after 02/15 for refund update….hopefully, like @Shandon says, pple who have gotten this are done and just being held until the refund date….fingers crossed
-
January 28, 2017 at 8:39 am #4154067Nik
I checked my WMR status this morning and have a Refund Approved status and a DD date of 2/1. I filed on 1/19 and was approved within 24 hours. I also claim the ACTC and EITC credits. Looks like the PATH act law is just a guideline and not being enforced for everyone.
-
January 28, 2017 at 8:24 am #4154052Shannon
Anyone with this message is done being processed and will recieve their refund between feb 15th-27th.

-
January 27, 2017 at 8:01 pm #4153876MsJones
I was able to order both transcripts last night (1/26/17). This morning both bars had disappeared and I now have this message (1/27/17).
Refund Status Results
According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue refunds before February 15 for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits.

January 27, 2017 at 12:49 am #4153330
I filed Jan 17th, accepted 18th, One bar now filed with all the bells and whistled for the delay in Feb, but just have normal 152. I know some people already got the bar disappear and the delay message. Maybe I slipped through with early batch, hahahahahaha Anyone else like me?

Refund was eflied and accepted on WMR page yesterday it had one bar now today I checked to see if had been approved and its giving me this message :We cannot provide any information about your refund. You must wait at least 24 hours after you get the acknowledgement e-mail that your tax return was received by the IRS
-
January 26, 2017 at 2:23 pm #4153150asnyder
hey I usually don’t ever post I just read to get info on where everyone’s at and whats going on but this is my situation, I filed on Jan 13th was accepted on the 17th had one bar on wheres my refund then yesterday the statement to check back after the 15th came up, so I thought hey let me check my transcripts and it let me order both return and account, the day before it wouldn’t let me at all.
So here’s what I think (its just a guess) if you received that notice on wheres my refund and you can order your transcripts you will probably see something the week of the 15th hopefully, but I’m no expert.
-
January 26, 2017 at 12:39 pm #4153105
I wouldn’t be expecting things right on the 15th. The IRS has said for those that are held until the 15th. To not expect your return in your acct. until the week of the 27th. So probably not until the 1st week in March.
-
January 26, 2017 at 12:21 pm #4153097Kacee
I’m wondering even though we have to wait for our deposits to be released on Feb 15th, will our status at least move to approved with 2 bars?
-
January 26, 2017 at 10:52 am #4153042Kelly
I filed and 1/13 and accepted on 1/17. Filed both child credits. Just tried to check my. Transcript and nothing for 2016 on there. 🙁
When I click on website it’s shows one bar and tax topic 152 -
January 26, 2017 at 10:09 am #4153022Aaron S
I filed on 1/23. Was accepted five minutes later.
I still have one bar on WMR.
Filed EITC (completely by accident, HR block kinda through it in there and I could not opt out) for 16 dollars.. lol., and Education credit.
Can’t order transcripts yet, so I’m guessing mine still has not be processed.
-
January 26, 2017 at 10:01 am #4153014Gradylady
I qualified for both child tax credits an I have one bar it’s says my refund will be deposited within21 days I was accepted on the 23rd
-
January 26, 2017 at 9:26 am #4153000Patrick
Everyone who filed an Earned Income Tax Credit or Child Credit has to wait until the 15th
-
January 25, 2017 at 9:11 pm #4152835Paul
I filed 1/19 accepted the same day.
-
January 25, 2017 at 8:33 pm #4152824Brad
People, everyone that efiled gets Topic 152. It’s a generic topic to tell you what to expect on all scenarios. I had Topic 152 the second after it was accepted. I do not have EIC or ACTC.
-
January 25, 2017 at 8:31 pm #4152820
Me, too. I am being optimistic and looking at it as a DD close to the 15th.
