Woke up to YOUR REFUND HAS BEEN DELAYED DUE TO INDICATION OF BANKRUPTCY ON YOUR ACCOUNT.

971 notice issued on transcript. Anyone knows if I’ll still get my refund and how long it will take? My lawyer said that it wouldn’t be affected but they may take what I owe them.

Or, no wait time at all. Your return will be adjusted, YOU will receive remainder.

@Tasha, did you read my other comment? It is a process. Your refund shouldn’t take much longer than it would, had you been given a ddd. Whatever that might’ve been, I’d imagine a week up to 3 weeks!

Wait for the letter, there will be more information in it. Sorry I cannot offer more. Every case is different, all we’re doing is guesstimate. Hopefully you’ll get answers soon.

I do have the 971 code and no 846. Does anyone know how long it takes? I don’t understand why bgg they didn’t take theirs and go ahead and send me the rest.

I was under the impression Student loans, government and state debts are not eliminated regardless of bankruptcy.

No, just student loans have been forgiven on this years. If you owed on a previous years, it’ll still be taken out. Now state debts could only be taken out of your state return. Not your federal. There’s a federal offset number you can call but I saw reports it was down.

That 971 will most likely be and “intercepted” letter. Explaining debt, and the new refund amount. It’ll be released w code 571 afterwards. Which should eventually reflect in your transcripts and WMR/IRS2GO .. w a ddd to follow.

I work for Government, also owe. State portion is subtracted what I owe, rest is deposited in my account. Latest I recieved State was 18, March. Normally it is end of Feb. Not sure why so long last yr! I’ve payment arrangements w them so first yr offset, my deposit was 2/28. Not so bad. Not sure what happens in a bankruptcy case. As long as you don’t contest/dispute, nor your attorney on your behalf, you shouldn’t have to wait long for dd. Look for code 571

                        All the best🙏🏽

Oh, you’ll get the rest. We’re there any codes besides 971?

I owe the irs but that debt is included in my chapter 13 case. I’m confused as to why they didn’t send me the rest.

Whom do you owe? @DeepAlms is right. That’s why it is much better to settle w the government/ irs if that’s who you owe? Trying to get my youngest son to understand this, before they start taking what you owe!

But will they release the remaining to me? Why didn’t they just get what I owe and send me the rest?

Filing bankruptcy doesn’t eliminate debt to government. So if you owed money to the IRS, they’ll still get it.
