Bank error, now waiting on a paper check

I filed on 1/26, accepted by irs within the hour. I opened a brand new account over a month ago specifically for my refund, so… I haven’t used it (big mistake) I put all the new account info when I filed and got a letter this week from the bank that my checking and savings accounts were closed. Irs says it’ll get rejected and they’ll send a paper check. Great :/ I can already order both transcripts as of 2/6 and I claimed eic and actc. Anyone heard of this happening, or have any input, or guesstimations as to when I might get this paper check via snail Mail? Tia

Depending when what day of the week you deposit enters the banks ach system and tries to access your account the banks system will then ping the deposit back to the sender. Takes about 5 business days.

The hold up usually is on the IRS side. They automatically send a check. Some folks have tried to get them to resend an ach. They only attempt once.

Your bank should be able to tell you what day it was pinged back. I would call the IRS 5 days after that to make sure they rcvd it back.

New accounts must be funded in 30 days or they close.

This actually happens frequently. I am thinking this year it will happen a lot with the hold up on deposits.

Same thing happened to my sister Friday 2/10 she call irs and they told her that she will get a paper check in about a week

@Ten1seven, that totally sucks. It usually takes about a week to get put back into the cycle for them to issue you a paper check with the next batch, which could take another week or so beyond that. Hopefully it won’t be too long of a wait. I’m sorry this is happening to you.

Happened to me last year. Accountant added a number to the account number for DD and it was rejected. Once they said it was mailed it took less than a week to show up.
