I called to see if I had an offset before I filed, it said I did not. I have applied for student loan forgiveness and they are not supposed to collect while waiting on decision. The irs where’s my refund said it was sent to my bank the 22nd, it never showed up. I checked irs the 24th and it said my refund was taken for an offset. However, I call the offset line again and still says I have no offset. ?!?!?

I’m not sure I understand your situation. Student Loan Forgiveness typically requires forgiving loans after 10 years of public service, during which you would have been paying your loans. ended that program last year. The only way I know of to stop collections on student loans is to rehabilitate them for at least 9 months or to apply for consolidation. Until you have a payment plan in place and meet all terms, they will take everything. There are a lot of student loan scams out there. Make sure you work directly with the government for any federal student loan issues.
