      Got an offset message today. Desposit date 2/24 with offset. So I go from path message for weeks to received processing then go this refund approve with some offset message. Well the offset is a lot less than my refund. So wonder how long refund will be delayed. It says on offset number they already took out the money. Always something. More drama to come

          So I call the offset line so it says no debt at this moment then I hit two for details says you have two offsets 1st was March 17 2021 for 1999. Which I know they took out the second is February 24 2022 but it hasn’t been the 24th yet. Then after says you have no tax debts. So my refund was much larger than the 3069 it’s taking for my offset. So will the rest of my amount still hit tomorrow or do you think it will be delayed?

            Call the offset number and select option 2 to hear if your offset has already been paid with your refund. Google the IRS offset #.

              I left out the verbiage of non irs tax debt with code 898. Have you seen a student debt offset code? If so, please share.

                  @anthony It is worth noting that there are different offset codes. Student Loan offset codes are not 898. Don’t want anyone getting confused thinking that there is only one code for an offset as there are several circumstances with several codes given.

                    Hi Jon,

                    Yes, 2/24 should be the date of your DD after any offset.
                    The offset has been reduced already on the backend in preparation for your DD to arrive on 2/24.

                    Glad I could assist.

                        I filed 1/31 and had a DDD for 2/22 per transcript with an offset to unemployment for 2k. I just received my refund this morning with traditional bank, Texas Regional Bank. My WMR had gone from offset message with full refund amount due by Feb 27th until this morning with updated message Ddd 2/22 and reduced amount. Called the offset hotline and sure enough it showed no tax obligation due meaning unemployment had already received their portion. Checked my bank and BAM it was there. Yay!!!!

                            @Jon

                            Code 898 is the code for an offset and usually appears on transcript 11 days after code 846 refund date.

                            If you search offsets on this site, you will see people asking the same question in years 2019, 2020, 2021. From how people answered, the offset and release of the remainder of your refund happens on the same day your supposed to receive your direct deposit. Most people answered no delays. Hope that helps you a little.
