Under typical circumstances, I would agree with you, completely.. but I did see that they truly aren’t able to input any W2’s manually into the SSA system until the April 1st deadline has passed. I read it on the reps computer. She was doing her darndest to help me. I will say, however, that there is a lot of uncertainty as to who transmits what to who.. and when.

Lol it’s hard to believe anything you here even from ssa or irs. Some have said what you see or dont see on ssa has nothing to do with your tax return. Then some say it needs to be there for the irs to match up your wages and all. I’ll believe when I can see a dddate.

I got it from a number different representatives, one of which said it to me in person, and then showed me when she attempted to override the system. It was redlined, and the system stated that nothing could be input prior to the 1st of April. I was not the only one.. we had another thread where a few others had the same said to them by SSA reps. -

where did you get that information from? because when we talked to tax advocate and SSA they never said anything about that and weve asked multiple people multiple times

GoFigure,
Call your local TA until you get an answer, and if that is too time consuming, leave a message and let them know that you are extremely concerned and are seeking direction and advice. Prayerfully you will get a helpful TA who will answer your questions and give you greater insight.

I called for a TA, got some four digit code and he transferred me but my daughters bus came, and I put the phone down to hug, wave, see her off and I was disconnected. Didn’t try back, because there’s no hardship…just would like to get it timely so I can maneuver some finances around without stress.

I am sorry to hear That ;(. Have you tried the Taxpayer Advocate line? (Your local TA)? Even to see what’s going on? -

@Jeremy

After all the personal info you have to use to view them online. You would think having a phone in your name wouldn’t be required. I’ve been using pre paid for awhile now.

Are you still waiting on ssa to update with your wages?

Your information will be in there after April 1st. They cannot override the system prior to that date for manual input.

Sounds like it just depends on when they get to it. Mine updated this past saturday. It just made me wander if mine was there all week or it just went into the system saturday.either way hopefully it gets things to moving in a good direction.

we took in a copy of w2 in person to SSA and they said it will take 30 to 60 days to get it in the system but it could be sooner,. this is crazy,.

-
March 5, 2020 at 2:01 pm #4389162Jeremy
Can ssa update online any day of the week or is it on saturday? Mine updated this past saturday and I’ve seen lots of other ppl who also updated then. I’m just wandering trying to see how fast they update it once they process your employers info

March 4, 2020 at 10:00 pm #4388897Gofigure
Oh, and no mail yet from IRS
-
March 4, 2020 at 9:59 pm #4388896Gofigure
@Jeremt
Nope, just my self employment…on 2/12 was posted. Still waiting on w2. But I called SSA twice after I faxed w2 and employer faxed to SSA (which he sent in January as well) and they said it’s reflecting .but website doesn’t show it. I’m hoping this weekend or next for IRS wmr to post some news…some good news. Lol -
March 4, 2020 at 9:32 pm #4388889Jeremy
Well hopefully they get to it quickly and we all update.
-
March 4, 2020 at 8:52 pm #4388883MsEncore12
I just read on the IGMF that the IRS reports to SSA so that means they have our info. We’re getting a date Friday morning! I’m putting it in the atmosphere!

@gofigure
Are your earnings posted on ssa yet?
-
March 4, 2020 at 7:42 pm #4388854Gofigure
@Jeremy
At least my state tax refund deposited today. Makes me feel a wee bit better. Lol -
March 4, 2020 at 6:51 pm #4388835Jeremy
Hopefully once your wages are reported they have a process to find out they are pretty quick instead of letting it sit there forever. Like a soft process to check for it once a week or something.
-
March 4, 2020 at 5:55 pm #4388813Jeremy
Yeah that sounds about right. I’m hoping to get a dddate and lol put this tax season behind.
-
March 4, 2020 at 5:53 pm #4388812Gofigure
I usually file later..and I will resume next year with my old ways. This has been a lesson well learned. Let all the glitches subside and then file, that’s my mantra. 😃
-
March 4, 2020 at 5:52 pm #4388811Gofigure
It’s definitely good news. I have to add that I believe there has been a major hiccup the IRS hasn’t divulged this year…too many people hemmed up. Exposure of incompetentacy would be too much for them, so they are rattling off reviews, etc to taxpayers to cover their butts. That’s my theory anyway. Lol
-
March 4, 2020 at 5:37 pm #4388809Jeremy
@gofigure
Yeah I’ve tried researching it the best I can. But still really cant be %100.Im not sure if they process it and add it to the master earnings file before the irs is done or not. I’m seeing alot of ppl who have some of thier wages posted on there but are still waiting on another w2 to come in.So it seems like they are updating it pretty quick. Hopefully it does mean good news when its reported. -
March 4, 2020 at 5:24 pm #4388800Gofigure
@Jeremy
Ssa in the past didn’t reflect earnings immediately unless it was self employment. There’s a frequently asked questions on this website from the moderators a couple years ago that explains the process. But this year seems different. Who knows..but I have a hunch YOU will get a DDDate posted on Friday nights update/Saturday morning wmr update 🤗 -
March 4, 2020 at 2:27 pm #4388708
I checked every year and my wages never add up exactly with my return and I’ve still never had this issue. Since this bs I have checked previous years of the same filing status and children every year and still get my refund on time so idkwtf

Mine updated a few days ago on ssa. Some ppl are saying that doesnt matter because they sometimes dont update till summer. Then some are saying you need to be able to see them as reported on there. I’ve seen where ppl had thier employer resend thier info efiled and it update on ssa by the end of the week. Anyone know if it is important and good that its showing as reported or does it even matter?

My SSA finally updated last week, matches my refund AGI. Still no update on WMR or Tax Transcripts. I ID verified on 2/13, called on 3/2, my online ID Verify did not work, verified 3/2.

What is the Internal Revenue Service/Social Security Administration (IRS/SSA) Reconciliation Process?
“Earnings report data and tax report data, are submitted to SSA and IRS by employers, their representatives, third parties, and agents. If wage data processed by SSA is less than the amount reported to IRS, we assume that the processed earnings are incorrect.”
-
March 4, 2020 at 8:20 am #4388513Gofigure
Your numbers on SSA.gov should be exactly what your W2’s add up to. Or self-employment and W-2 added up.
-
March 4, 2020 at 7:18 am #4388488
@ValerieOK my numbers are a little off as well but I don’t think it’s anything we did. I gave my tax preparer EXACTLY everything that I had so idk😑
-
March 4, 2020 at 7:17 am #4388487
Mine have updated I’m just now checking it though. I filed January 29th so I’m not sure when it updated. What does it have to do with anything? Help me understand….

Mine updated on the SSA website a couple weeks ago, but I just noticed the numbers seem off. Ugh.

@DeeDee
Hi !! Still nothing on SSA.gov for me besides my selfemployment (which IRS put on there)…still waiting on the w2 earnings to post on SSA.gov. But in the past, it wouldn’t update w2 earning til summertime.
