Again, believe what you want. I’m not raining on anyones parade. Nor am I mad… my money is already in my account. If you wanna live in a fallacy, be my guest. I’m being realistic, your returns needs to be cross referenced with your employer and against anyone who may also claim your dependants, that is why there is a delay.
Personally, I think the law is stupid and it’s just the IRS holding your money longer so they can play with it and cash in on interest for a bit longer.
But that law is the law and nothing you say, no one you pray to or no one you know is going to remove that holding period for you.

I seriously doubt the IRS is only holding returns filed before the 23rd. Like I said in another post, I think it’s more likely that, with that statement, they’re targeting those of us who normally would’ve received our refunds before the 15th.
I don’t believe it means that anyone who filed after the 23rd isn’t affected, if that’s one anyone is trying to say. It’s just illogical.

Funny how people are so mad that others want their money faster and are curious if they might get it earlier. this thread is for people who got theirs earlier not for people to come rain on the parade we all know what the Law says damn let us dream damn!

@lauren
You can believe what ever you want… but the fact is, and it’s been repeated and confirmed by various people who work in and with the IRS… one being a relative of mine.
It is impossible, if your return makes you eligible for these credits, it is locked out until Feb. 15. End of story.
The people saying they got DDD’s or better yet their money already are either NOT eligible for those credits or are lying.
It is the law, there are no exceptions.

@willbeas what I pasted came from IRS.gov. I hope that is true regarding early filers. I just read on the igotmyrefund FB page that there is no DDD to show up on where’s my refund if you get the PATH message, We shall see….

I believe sir, you misinterpreted the early filing warning from the IRS. Let’s look at this literally.
Possible Refund Delay for Some Early Filers:
The PATH Act mandates that the IRS not issue a refund on tax returns claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit until Feb. 15. The additional time helps the IRS stop fraudulent refunds from being issued to identity thieves and fraudulent claims with fabricated wages and withholdings.
1. The title of the section firstly say “possible”, and is not implied as a certainty.
2. The mandate for the path act stated on the opening statement reflects the law that is imposed on everyone, and not just early filers.
3. The additional time they need to protect us from fraud is clearly stated under the understanding they are talking about those who file early, since that’s typically (not always) when fraud occurs during tax season. It’s a simple ‘catch em early’ stategy based on their statistical analysis.
In short, this clearly applies to all, but they are just acknowledging if you are used to filing early, due to the law, you should be advised at how the law may or may not affect you.
*I am a path act recipient, and annual early filer (1/7) and show no bias in trying to explain this. Good luck all.

@tom it doesn’t make sense for people to lie about it though unless to just troll but I don’t see the point in that.
I have seen 2 people in this forum say their deposit is in their bank with the ACTC and/or EIC. -

If you all read the law properly it is for early filers. It states early filers every time you see the 02/15 hold being mentioned. I advise you all utilize IRS.gov please.
So I’m assuming this is only for “early filers” because that’s the only language used when mentioning the 02/15 hold. They heck for fradulant withholding and income because folks are using last paystubs and other nonsense.

Where’s My Refund? on both IRS.gov and the IRS2Go mobile app will be updated with projected deposit dates for early EITC and ACTC refund filers a few days after Feb. 15. Taxpayers claiming EITC or ACTC will not see a refund date on Where’s My Refund? or through their software package until then. The IRS, tax preparers and tax software will not have additional information on refund dates.
The IRS cautions taxpayers that these refunds likely will not start arriving in bank accounts or on debit cards until the week of Feb. 27 — if there are no processing issues with the tax return and the taxpayer chose direct deposit. This additional period is due to several factors, including banking and financial systems needing time to process deposits. -

I just read that people with the PATH message will NOT get a DDD 😒 Which is so dumb! So we just have to wait!

No DDD. I filed 1/17 and accepted 1/19. My status changed to the PATH message last Saturday. I was a weekly cycler the last few years so I was shocked to see mine processed that quickly. I guess I was moved back to daily this year.

@Tom
Think you mean EITC or ACTC. CTC isn’t held up.
Just clarifying for any passersby…

No one, and I mean no one, who qualify for either EITC and/or CTC have gotten a DDD. I don’t care what you were told or who says what, the system literally locks your status until Feb. 15. There is no way around it, there are no exceptions, no test batches…
Until I see proof, it’s all a bunch of BS… and no one claiming they have has shown any proof.

i filed Jan 3rd accepted Jan 13th in what call a test batch, i do have EIC and ACTC – i had one bar up until about the 27th and now its the path act disclaimer to check back FEB 15th — last year filled Around Jan 23rd and received FEB 12th– so to me its really the same delay as last year(just few days longer)
Hope this helps—

-
February 1, 2017 at 12:43 pm #4156465
No one will get a DDD if you claimed either one of those credits. It’s federal law. They have to follow it
