I am looking for anyone who has filed the injured spouse form in previous years. I had to file it this year for the 1st time and I’m just trying to find out if it takes the whole 11-12 weeks for processing like they state? any help will be appreciated.

I’m curious how you guys are accessing your transcripts & getting codes!! This was our first Yr filing an IS ~ we e-filed on Feb 19th ~ then 10days later were informed of our offset ~ I filed the 8379 form right away & received out state refund within 8wks but are still waiting on our Fed refund ~ I’ve called the line with extension I originally called and now it says due to high call volume they’re not accepting calls at this time & hangs up.
FRUSTRATED!!

HAVE ANY OF YOU FILED INJURED SPOUSE IN STATE OF CA? I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DOING SO HOWEVER I WAS INFORMED THAT BECAUSE IT WAS A COMMUNITY PROPERTY STATE THAT THERE IS A CHANCE THAT THEY MAY STILL KEP OUR REFUND. THE LOANS WERE MINE FOR STUDENT LOANS AND MY HUSBAND MAKES 100% OF OUR INCOME DUE TO MY DISABILITY. I AM JUST CURIOUS IF ITS A GIVEN THAT THEY WONT RETURN ANYTIHING OR WHAT KINDS OF EXPERIENCES OTHERS HAVE HAD. BTW WE WERE MARRIED WHEN I TOOK OUT THE LOANS.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!
ALSO FOR ANY OF YOU WHO HAVE HAD YOUR TAX REFUND TAKEN DUE TO STUDENT LOANS THERE IS A WAY TO GET IT BACK. YOU MUST MEET CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS THOUGH. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME AND IT WAS RETUNED, IF YOU NEED HELP WITH THIS PLEASE ASK!
THANK YOU.

We included the IS form because of previous years with offsets from student loans. This year we are not on the offset list, but an IRS person suggested we include it for good measure…bad idea. We now have a 570 code for no reason, and our money is delayed. All this because they saw the form…didn’t even check the offset list yet. How much sense does that make? We are cycle 20150805. Is there a chance that we will process early this year? Last year we did the same exact thing with no problems. I’m so frustrated.

What phone number do you call for updates? My transcript now shows the date the 8379 form was received, but nothing else. What codes should follow if I will get my refund back?

There taking there time called today was told that it was sent to review on Feb 12 I was accept on Jan 30th. Said I have tell April 30th to see my refund. It seems like the smart thing to do is file without this form then send it in and it would be a short time.

Forgot to say that after the IRS has finished they have to transfer it to the FMS so they can see how much is being taken out. If it’s for back due childsupport they have to notify the childsupport office 60 days in advance of n offset.

Last year I had to contact a tax payer advocate because after 16 weeks they hadn’t even touched it. I called several days after contacting them and the IRS finished our refund over the phone. It does not matter what state you live in but it does matter how you file the form. If you e-filed it with your return it takes 11 weeks, if you mailed it in with your return it takes 14, and if you mailed the form in (by itself) after e-filling or mailing in your return then it takes 8 weeks to process. This year we e-filed both together on 2/08 and I ordered a transcript (which means the IRS is done processing our return). WMR states that my return has been accepted and a refund date will be provided when available.

This was my first year filing Injured Spouse. I was accepted on 1/28. I’m the only income earner, have no personal offsets, spouse does. This morning I wake up to code 290, Cycle Date 20150805 03-16-2015 $0.00, But the next code is 846 Refund Issued Date 03-16-2015.
I’m thinking I’m getting my DDD on 3/5 now, but the code 290 is throwing me off. And there’s no 571 to release the 570, etc. Crossing my fingers the rest of you see the 846 soon as well.

Going on 4 weeks with the 570 code on transcript. I really hope it’s not going to take 11 weeks to get my money.

I efiled 1/22, then on 1/30, WMR updated w/ offset due to husband’s debt. I immediately mailed in the injured spouse form. Not until 2/20, did my transcript update, now showing the injured spouse form was received 2/4/15. WMR has not changed, & SBBT has not yet received a deposit.
Historically – when the transcript is updated with injured spouse, how quickly does a refund follow?

I have filed injured spouse several times and it has taken the maximum amount of time to process it every time. It’s frustrating and I swear I always thought that it took so long simply because they can take that long. So glad I don’t have to do so anymore.

Be filing for 6 years and it alway has taken 10 to 12 weeks. So if you read that it will be sooner. They must be the lucky few.

I filed the Injured spouse this year on January 30th and it was accepted 2/2. I called today and they stated my projected refund date is 4/20/15.

No it usually doesn’t take the full 11 weeks to process. Last year I had to wait a little longer because it took them forever to finalize the form. I filed this yr with the form on the 26th and should be getting my return this week or next, so it’s only been a little over 21 days that I have been waiting.

I have been electronically filing with form 8379 for the past 5 years. I have been filing right around the Feb 1 and getting the direct deposit between 4/14-4/25. Right around 10-12 weeks. Nothing on the Where’s my Refund status changes until the direct deposit has been sent.

I’ve filed IS 3 times, in 2010, 2011 and this year. One took months, one took less than 10 days and this year… I don’t know yet. I posted about calling yesterday, my post is on the IS forum but basically I was told that my return and IS form have been processed but refund has not been released and no date set for a release.
I filed and was accepted 1/28, have a receive date of 2/2.
I would plan on the 11 weeks and hope for a nice surprise. -
