As we all know and as my personal experience can tell you, it does depend on who you get on the phone that will make the difference of what information you can get. This is unfortunate as we are all tax paying citizens and deserve information in regards to our returns. I attempted to call the IRS as I filed on 1/27/16 and have only 1 bar and no codes. The first call got me the 21 day message that makes no sense to any of us. I find that members of the same sex tend to be unhelpful (I know this sounds sexist but its true), as a male I decided to call back as many times as it took to get a woman on the phone. And wouldn’t you know it she looked at my refund for me. Didn’t have any useful information for me besides they had not even gotten to my refund yet and to keep checking wmr and it should be there next week. This was Monday. So if anyone else has had any positive and informative call please post here as I am sure a lot of us are in the same boat.

I just got off the phone with a very helpful lady with the IRS. I filed and was accepted on 1/30 via turbo tax. I have been watching this forum and seeing some get returns while others still was empty handed. At first she was unable to find my return, but when she looked into the unpostable/incomplete returns she was able to locate my return. I have to send in a form 1095a. I had created an account on healthcare.gov but didn’t actually buy in, but because I created the account I have to send in this form. So I was able to speak to someone before my 21 days was up and I’m so thankful that the lady I spoke to didn’t brush me off and actually helped me. Hope everyone can get their returns sorted so we can get our hard earned money back.

I just called the tax advocate line. The IRS agents are useless and they lie half the time. I had 2 tell me I didn’t even have a return for 2015. I filed 1/25 so my 21 days aren’t up yet. Yesterday I called a tax advocate they told me there’s nothing wrong with my return it’s still processing but behind a week.

My situation is similar. I filed 1/24 and accepted an hour later. I had one bar then it disappeared and nothing in the WMR except topic 152.

I’m still within 21 days. I called, finally spoke w a nice agent. He told me to call the Tax Payer Protection Program, nothing else.

Needless to say, my return processing had stopped due to needing to verify my identity.

I’d call the number and tell whomever you speak to, that you called whatever that it’s no. Is and they told you to call them. Those people can actually see your return.

The rep at that no. Told me it was a good thing I called bc no telling when I would have gotten a letter in the mail telling me I needed to verify my ID. So now my return has went back into processing bc successfully verified myself with random questions asked.
I hope this helps.. I’d call the no. first.
