I also won’t be raked over with fees next year.. Normally I do them.. Path screwed over the people and helped these prep agencies.
I think its bs.. I was also told apply for a job because I’d be good at it.. Starting to think these preparers use it on us who don’t believe they are worth the money. To try and distract us.. Didn’t work considering I didn’t think what I got was fair or worth the money.
I also needed the advance and to get it got taken for $473.. Yeah f#(#ing ridiculous.
The whole time I don’t know how you could put all these w2s on your return yourself. They really didn’t help you with this one. You’ll need a schedule c.. Next year will be cheaper because your stuff is on file… Its not hard to follow directions and type things in. For most people with basic returns.. They are blatantly ripping people off.
Ha! Next year.. No never again.
My sister paid $250. Because its hard to type in info for a w2 and socials for 3 people.

@nessa79 your return should be free, why would you pay almost $200???
They try to throw those import w2 things and have a tax expert look at your return wastes to get you to pay more, they are not needed!! -

@ sabrina what kind of Loan did you get? HR Block on offered the Refund Advance and it didnt cost anything. I have had my taxes completed there for years and I file, MFJ, Dep, AOTC, itemized deducitons, business expenses and my fees are $475. Just wondering why your fees are different.

I filed later than usual (2/5) thinking Ii needed to wait for a health care form but turns out I did not need it even though I bought health care through the market place. I was expecting not to see my return til March but Saturday it updated to 2/23. I still have not seen funds but also filed through Jackson Hewitt which I am seriously thinking of trying to prepare my own next year. Last year they checked a box in error which created a paper check instead of direct deposit and this year the lady forgot to process 3 of my student loan interest forms. I had to remind her when she was done and I did not see the deductions on my 1040 and she was all “oh, it does not make much difference anyway.” Well, I made her go back in and add them and turns out it made a $500 difference between my two and my husband’s one which covered their ridiculous $397 preparation fee plus the $42.95 fee their bank (Republic) charges for the service of transferring your return. H&R Block is not much better and fell silent a few years back when I got audited because they improperly prepared my return. I ended up having to get a tax advocate and did not see my return until May. All of these places are a rip off and of no assistance at all in the event you have an issue.

@sabrina @me I got a job offer at HRblock while I was filing this year. Because I was showing the lady she was doing it wrong and honestly, I wanted to climb over the desk and just do it myself! I always prepare myself but with PATH I needed the advance. SO wasn’t worth it though. 500 advance, 300 in fees to prepare WTF. Turbo tax PREMIUM costs me less than 100 every year. NEVER AGAIN!

Yes, I received My money last night in a very vivid dream I was having. When I woke up I immediately called my card and was quickly disappointed that it wasn’t there. Wish I could go back to sleep.

I used H&R block for years. It cost me $150-$200 every year and it would go up a little more every year. Last time it was over $300. My return is simple, w2 1040EZ. I tried turbo tax for the first time last year. I figured why not? Its free. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! I got my refund faster than I ever had before and I saved myself the advance fee and their fee. Its Turbo Tax for me FOREVER!
Getting off the subject of the topic. DDD 2/23 for me. No funds yet but I suspect it will come anywhere between Tues-Thurs. I’ll be sure to post when I get my deposit. Have a nice holiday all! -

That company pulls anyone off the street to do taxes. I’m no tax expert but when I use to use them I had to correct the person on a few occasions and I had the branch manager ask me if I wanted a job lol they are unqualified (not all but most) I’m glad the tax software out there makes it so much easier.

@me exactly why I do my own taxes.. nobody can take me for a fool. What was funny was the whole time the HR Block Rep was doing my taxes I’m right there basically telling her what to do. At 1st she tried to play me as a fool. Telling me “How I should be filing ” or what I can and can’t do. I flat out told her look I’m only here for the advance. I’m not stupid. So yes I want you to go the long way around. Lol

The federal reserve, which is where irs transfers from, is not open today. so no deposits will be received today unless they were transmitted by Friday afternoon. Deposits will start to show up tomorrow! Its crazy everyone freaking out who has a ddd of 2/23 that they don’t have funds yet. They told us not to expect refunds until week of 27th so the fact that we are getting ddd for this week is a bonus! Hang on a few days folks you will have your money 😊

Nothing. I filed in office with HR Block. Only bcuz I needed the advance. Normally I do my taxes myself & put on my netspend card and get 2-3 days early. This year HR Block put on thier Emerald Card. It costed me almost $500 to do my taxes then another $500 for the loan.. never again. I didn’t need the money that bad. Now from what I’m hearing emerald card NEVER releases early. I’m like grrrr… but the 23rd isn’t far. I just need my money now! Lol 😝

Nope. I used TT with fees, so waiting on SBBT and then another wait to my traditional bank! Hoping to see movement later today (if SBBT is open and releasing funds) and then not expecting it until 2/23 from my local bank. They NEVER release earlier than the date specified.
