I see a lot of people on here stressing about when they’ll receive their refund. Myself included. I would like to take a step back and see if anyone has good news that’s not refund related. Just trying to be positive.

Dude,
You inspired me! I’m sorry if it offended you. I only picked you because you seemed like you could take a joke.
I won’t mess with you no more. -

@Deep freeze
Thats awesome! Also running on space heaters over here.
Not because my furnace is still busted, oh no. Bought a brand spankin’ new one and have already paid for it’s installation. It’s because stupid cousin in law is an HVAC guy and has been putting off installing the new one because he can get away with doing so cuz ‘family understands’.
Am about to lose my mind. Like dude, any discounts you may have given us have been more than eaten by my electric bill. Get this damn thing installed.
Lesson friggin’ learned.

So my furnace has not been working right since November. I was laid off the week before it started having problems then my daughter went into the hospital for a long term stay with nuroligical Issues, my Unemployment was delayed & then Christmas. My daughters health has gradually improved & luckily I always shop ahead for Christmas so we were able to squeak through the end of the year but I held off on the furnace repair & was trying to get through till my tax return came to fix it. We have been using an eadenpure & small forced air space heaters in the bedrooms. As my luck would have it this is the coldest winter in 40 years in my state so my electric bill shot through the roof, pipes have frozen twice but we were able to thaw them ourselves with no problems. Fast forward to yesterday morning-Out of the blue an outlet in my living room started making a crackeling noise. I unplugged the cord that was there & the both the plug & the outlet were literally black & melted. It was the plug the eadenpure had been plugged in to-of course.
(I promise there is some good news so stay with me)
I turned off the breaker that outlet is on & Called a family friend who was kind enough to come over yesterday with a new outlet & fuse for the breaker. Turns out there was a loose wire connection in the wall to the back of the outlet… could have burned down my house if I hadn’t caught it as quickly as I did. The family friend wouldn’t take any money & he gave me the number for a furnace guy. I decided to call Thinking it could be a week before he could come. I explained that I couldn’t afford a major repair bill till next week when I got my tax return but I could afford a service call charge before that. He was at my house yesterday afternoon. Turns out it was a dirty sensor. He took it out and cleaned it & the dang thing has worked perfectly ever since. He got it running in less than 15 minutes. The best part-He only charged me $30!!! I feel so stupid for not calling sooner. For letting my electric bill go so high before I called… I wouldn’t doubt that running the space heaters played a part in the breaker & outlet failing. Sometimes when you’re trying to save money & get by it ends up costing more in the end-Lesson Learned!! So my furnace is working, my electrical problems are fixed, my federal return is scheduled to deposit 2/22 AND I’m no longer laid off.
Life is good. -

@Courtney Joy
like yea, the money would be good, but meh. We’re pretty okay anyway.
Husband didn’t know my phone bill was due today so took kids to dinner last night.
Oops, that won’t get paid, but it’s Straight talk. I won’t have any issues just staying on wifi for a few days and paying it whenever money appears or on payday. I don’t call people anyway, so it’s not worth pulling from savings or credit. Kids are healthy, happy, obnoxious heathens. Their butts are covered, their shoes fit, there’s pork for tacos in the crock-pot.Basically, we’re doing pretty damned good for us at tax season. I kinda like feeling stable enough to not be losing my mind about tax refunds :)

Is there really supposed to be an update tonight? I managed to check too many times already today 🤦 I’ve been following these threads for a while now and finally figured out how to reply lol although some guy named Larry accused me of being some guy named Mike and blowing smoke up people’s “arse” and to get a life 😂 to be fair.. It was my very first reply on here where I put my claims and my expected refund and the next time I check it I’m arse smoke blowing Mike

So this isn’t GOOD news, but it’s freaking FUNNY!
I have been fighting a cold all weekend and it finally hit me when I woke up this morning :( So I am sitting at my desk at work…I am an accountant…in a very quiet office. I sneeze…loud…VERY LOUD! And…
PEED at the same time!!! OMG!!! Not a ton, but enough that I felt it!
Have kids they said…it will be an amazing experience they said…you will be a great mom they said…you will also pee your pants when you sneeze they DIDN’T say!!
HAHA…Happy Tuesday! :)

@Jdthatsme no problem!! I just want everyone to stay positive. We’re all in a situation we can’t really control and of course it’s not fair. I just want to be that little ray of hope for someone 🤣❤️

February 18, 2019 at 7:53 pm #4279552
Mine is kinda tax related, but not OMG STRESS FREAK OUT.
I have confirmed that our refund finishes paying off the house. We weren’t sure where we were exactly with interest and a couple late payment penalties, but it will be enough to payoff and have a little bit of cash still left. Won’t be able to prepay our stuff like normal, but losing the house payment seems 100% worth it.
Am EXCITED!

Tornadoes. Hurricanes. Tsunamis. Hunger. Volcanoes. Wild Fires. Pain. Suffering. Diseases. Homelessness. Unemployment. Wait… oh, oh, oh. Good news. Hmmm…
Can’t think of any at the moment.

My expensive call girl named Sally called earlier and told me her herpies outbreak should be cleared up by the time I get my refund. However, she also informed me if I’m needing serviced and can only pay $5.00-$15.00 that her mother came outta retirement.
So I have my options open now anyway.

My 1 year old just popped out a LEGO and my 8 and 6 year old are fanning her poor red butt with a clean diaper. I love when my kids come together and find a solution without arguing or blaming one another! 😂 I want to throw the damn LEGO’s out the window. Maybe if I get them a hover board, they will forget about the LEGO’s for awhile. Life is a crazy fun rollercoaster every day. I can’t complain. I have a roof over our heads, food to eat and no one has hurt one another or told me they hate me today!! ☺️ This thread has made my whole night. Happy to hear everyone’s good news.

See I was afraid people would yell at me for making this thread but I’m actually surprised. I’m stressed right now about receiving my refund and hearing positive things are helping me stay calm and think about the fact that things could be 100% worse! @momjess that’s great! I hope you enjoy your stay!! @Jv exactly it’s important to stay positive in times of stress even when it seems impossible. @positivepatty THANK YOU!! I just wanted to spread some positivity. I came on here to get answers and see if someone was experiencing the same issues as me and I saw a lot of stress and I felt this post would help people calm down by thinking about the good things. @denny you’re so lucky. We’re freezing up here!! @Jennifer I need a hangover after the week I’m having lol @Gottalovetaxseason I can relate to you 100% oh my goodness!! @WaitingPatiently god bless you and may the blessings keep rolling in!

I have good news! I was going to wait until my dd hit to reserve our hotel for a weekend in May for a concert we’re going to. But I met a woman the other night and we got to talking and she’s a hotel manager in the city we’re going to and she sent me an employee discount link which saved me $150 on the hotel. So it’s all booked and ready and now we can use that extra $ to do other things during our stay.

Well my first born is away at his first year of college. He’s doing great, seems to love it there, is getting a great education, and is living his dream of playing college football! All good things :) Except now he has a girlfriend (first serious one he’s had). I know, good for him! But I won’t lie, this momma is stressing because I haven’t met her yet. I don’t know which is more stressful right now, thinking about that or thinking about my taxes lol! (Yes I know, not much comparison, just trying to lighten the mood a little!)

Well, like so many in this forum, I am stuck in limbo, waiting for an income tax refund that seems like it will never show up but I am blessed today and everyday. My family and I have a roof over our heads, we have an income that is lower than some and more than some but either way, it’s an income that provides for all of our needs and a few of our wants. We are basically healthy, live in a somewhat free country, and to top it all off, I just saved a bunch of money by switching my car insurance to Gieco!😂

I’m feeling great! The sun is so bright today and it’s soothing. I still have my home, car, and a fridge full of food. Ive worked 100 hours so that means I have 20 hours of OT. My checks have been so nice since I got a promotion to supervisor. I live in an amazing area that is surrounded by horses and farms. The quiet life.
Thanks for making this post. It’s a nice break from the “when, where, when, and how” I’ll get my money. (Which I still want😅)
You all are doing so well. Not too much more of a wait. We got this!

She said yes. It’s official….October 13th is the date.

I turn 50 in April and ready to enjoy the Gray years.

I woke up, have shelter, food and a car. My kids are healthy and I truly feel I can’t complain. W could live somewhere that forces us to pay into the government without getting a dollar back. Everytime I get frustrated I think of my friends in Lagos in a village and how they are living. It coul be worse waiting is better then nothing at all

I’m doing well. Good news .. well .. nothing too notable. Feeling happy at home with the wife and little ones. I took a week off work in anticipation for my return (so it better get here next week lol). Trying to catch up on home projects and playing with my kids. Cleaned my guns today – Sunday gun day!

Honestly? No
For the first time in my life, I bet everything on getting this return in a timely fashion.
Now I’m about to delay a mortgage payment, delay a car payment, delay a cc payment, and not be able to cover several bills.
I used to say NEVER do this…but I did
Being recently laid off, the IRS has no idea how bad I actually need this money.
Bad timing all around
