I signed up for the American Express Serve card because it stated that I can receive my refund 2 days sooner than a direct deposit to my bank account.

I was reading the tax refund info on serve.com and it says

It will take 24-48 hours for your funds to be available on Serve after your refund has been released by the IRS. You will receive an email from Serve once the refund has posted to your Account.

Now that does not sound like 2 days early. It sounds like 2 days late.

God I hope its wrong somehow or im misreading it or misunderstanding what theyare stating.

Someone asked them about that on their FB page, this was their reply:

“Hi Andy, Federal and state tax refunds will post to your account once we receive notification of a pending tax refund deposit, which may be up to 2 days before the official deposit but should be no later than noon ET on the official deposit date. Please check your account again today to see if your refund has been posted. For the status of your refund, please visit the IRS Where’s My Refund? tool, IRS2Go App, or by calling the IRS at 800-829-1954. Enjoy your afternoon.”

I have Amex Bluebird, which is basically the same as Serve. I got my refund a day early last year ( but mine had to go to SBBT first) and I aleays get my paycheck 2 days early. So be hopeful!

But if you didn’t pay your tax fees up front the tax preparer has to release the funds as well to THEIR bank so they can get their fees… then to your bank. The faster turnaround I’d when you pay your fees upfront and use a prepaid card like you mentioned

No that’s not what it means….THE IRS typically releases funds up to 4 days before the DDD. They do so to compensate for bank holds transient time if your fees are taken out etc… Prepaid cards advertise this because they don’t hold the funds as a typical bank does, they at released immediately
