@Bishwhett, in my humorous attempt to explain Path, One of the more important reasons was Identity theft. Mentioned below, but also actual theft, someone stole my daughter and son’s social security CARDS many yrs ago when they were wee tots, and filed them on their taxes! We later found out when we went to do so. Clearly these thieves filed early. Btw, that’s another “small redflag” and this is from IRS, early filers are closely examined. That’s why some early filers end up waiting longer! If you were on some bs, when would you file? As soon as possible, right?! The IRS is aware of this. And if one parent tries to quick file before the other, the path act promises to solve this.
Lol. @OP, sorry for hijacking your post.
Hoping for the best for everyone tonight!

@whitney mine updated to that this morning as well with a date at the top that says March 2nd. I’m hoping that the real update is still tomorrow Morning for us weeklies. I’m guessing they processed the returns but because the other transcripts haven’t been updated that’s maybe why it says “ no returned filed” I’m just guessing but I would think that.

@Bishwhett. Also, people claiming deceased folks. I mean, how dumb can one be! 😂
‘The Wait’ catches it ALL.
The IRS lost 5.8 billion during
those glory yrs.So, who to be mad at over the Path Act?! The Government? Squealers or, FRAUDSTERS????
-
February 14, 2020 at 2:11 am #4349517Target
And this is what “the PATH wait ” is all about. Part of it is to catch duplicate socials used on different returns. TurboTax asked if I had an agreement w the other parent to file. I of course do.
-
February 14, 2020 at 2:03 am #4349510Target
@Bish, well it all started w people claiming dependants (typically someone else kids), they had no right to claim. The Government got wind of this, when agreements to split monies went unmet, when one parent squealed on the other for letting her neighbors use the kids, his Grandma use the kids, when one parent found out the ex let the new gf file the kids, when she’s only been around for 5 mths, and the kids lived w dad all 12. The IRS began getting calls of all these fraudulent activity from – the ones left high & dry when the other ran off w all the winnings (in some instances the fraudsters themselves called), parents that had the legal right to claim. Thus – The ‘PATH ACT’ was born!
Now, just imagine if the IRS decided to audit everyone…. oooowwweeee!

You never know. It could show one.
Good luck! -
February 13, 2020 at 8:15 pm #4349171
I filed 2/1 morning and was accepted within an hour. I am on processing/1 bar. No credits to delay my refund. I have been a daily for several years. Can’t view the transcript of my primary filer because he doesn’t have a phone associated with his name. What are the chances of getting a DDD Saturday?
